7 Ch7.Let's aim for the monkey!

I have been thinking of what types of powers I want before I become a human, there is so much to consider!! I don't want too many abilities to start off, as I don't want to bite off more than I can chew... I mean of course I want to quickly take over hundreds of OP animals and gain their powers, but realistically now, how will I be able to accomplish that? I could in theory slowly work my way up the food chain and slowly aim for Magical Beasts slightly more powerful than the last until I am the most powerful out there and I know all their abilities, but there are a few problems with this.

Firstly, what if I die mid way, or some accident happens and I accidently take over a weaker Magical Beast or a normal animal instead of my next target… If that happens I will pretty much need to start over again, sure with some boosts but still. I don't think it is worth all that time and effort at this point, I may try that later in life, but now I need to think small.

Secondly, I am going into this knowing nothing about these Magical Beasts or their abilities. Who knows if I will be able to use them in a different Magical Beast, animal and human. What if there are any limitations to the use and gain mastery of said abilities?

So I came to the conclusion that it would be best to aim for five basic abilities. I have thought about this for quite a while and I think I need some ability that improves my comprehension or something that will let me learn this world's language fast. I have no idea where to even start looking for this, so I will probably aim for this ability last.

Next I need an ability to disguise myself, I have seen in many novels how useful this ability can be and how it has saved the lives of countless protagonists in their earlier lives. I can also think of many different utilizations where I can use the art of disguise. This ability needs to be able to change both my size and looks, so I am counting it as two abilities for now. It may be hard to find an appropriate target that can do both, but I think I have an idea as to where to start looking.

I will need a way to escape when needed, something that will get out of any sticky situation that I may find myself in. I am thinking something like teleportation or being able to run through walls or even something like sinking into the ground to get away.

Lastly I need an Inventory!! I have always wanted to have one of those storage rings or wield space magic that can hold whatever I want in a different space. I don't know if this world has anything like that, but it is probably a safe choice to aim for an ability that is capable of this. I mean being able to always carry your valuables around without worrying about it getting stolen is a literal dream come true.

I know that I am probably getting ahead of myself on this ability, space magic based powers have always been ranked at the top of the power lists in almost every Novel, Film or Anime, and to take over something with that power will be almost impossible. I still need to have a look though, It doesn't hurt to dream.

Now that I have some goals in mind, I will need to aim for my first Magical Beast. Ever since I saw that small monkey suddenly turn into a giant ape, I have been craving that power. It will fulfill part of my disguise criteria and will definitely be helpful in future battles when trying to gain better bodies. The best part about choosing it as my fist target is that the base form of the M-Beast is a small little monkey, about the size of an adult males head, I would say about 30cm in height. If I can find the perfect opportunity, it isn't impossible to kill it.

So first things first, I should explain what body I currently have, I am a snake. I am not too big, about 1.5m long and 10cm wide +-. The best part about my current body is that I am very poisonous, I have great stealth, since my scales are a muddy brown color, I can gain basic camouflage in both trees and dirt and my speed when striking is pretty insane. I am definitely a match for weaker Magical Beasts.

Now I just need to find an opportunity to kill that little dude, preferable when he is tired and unsuspecting. I have been tailing and tracking him for the last few days, trying to understand his habits. After following him for a while I was able to find where he lives, he lives in a small clearing surrounded by strange large trees.

They all live in what seems to be naturally formed grooves in these trees, it looks like the trees just suddenly go hollow in certain parts of the trunk, each tree has about 3 - 7 hollow grooves depending on their size. Quite a large group of monkeys live in this area, about 20-30 I would say.

They all kind of look the same, their sizes are all basically the same which is strange, It would seem after they are born they quickly become fully grown. This kind of makes sense since their ability is to grow larger, therefore I assume they evolved to quickly grow after birth and then use their ability if there's a need to be bigger. Their colorings are slightly different from each other, ranging from a yellowy brown all the way to a deep dark brown, this seems to be how they tell age apart, as they age, their hair turns darker.

After finding this area I have been tracking certain monkeys' habits. What he usually does in the morning is just swinging around from tree to tree, looking for some fruits to eat, after having some fruit snacks he will then have a small nap. After that he goes out to explore, usually running into another M-Beast's territory causing a fight to break out. After fighting he will go find a tree to lie down and rest, in order to recover his energy. This is when I will strike, I just need to wait for the perfect moment, when he is unsuspecting and I can get within striking distance of him before he wakes up.
