15 CHAPTER 14

Regret filled me the day I talked to my boss about not being able to come to work on time. At the university, I come out at 2 pm and go straight to work but now that I got an internship, I am going to be late for 2 hours and that time is when the customers start coming in. After a few more pleas, he gave up. Now, my only problem is how to live my life after adding another headache.

Why did I even accept the internship after hearing the company name? Tsk.

After settling everything, I am now good to go. But later that night, I slept late thinking about denying the internship which I could never do again. If I could've thought about it more that time, I couldn't have given myself more trouble.

After thinking about it too much, I had trouble sleeping. I stood up from my bed and went outside for some fresh air. It's not late. I thought of sleeping a little earlier because today, Monday, is the day that I start coming to Wong's company building and learning about business. But from what I think, I could learn more at school than in the internship.

I went out of the building and stood next to the light post. I put my hands inside the pockets of my hoodie and stared at the few cars that are driving past the silent street.

If this internship could have come sooner, I wonder if things would change.

As much as I want to forget about it is as much as I think about it every day. It doesn't even feel like that world's existence sunk into me but I think about it so much that I am going crazy. If these things could have ended up as a dream. I would be living happily and peacefully.

My eyes dropped to the leaves which fell off the tree nearby. After a few moments of just staring at it, doing nothing, I changed my gaze and saw a man standing in front of me but on the other side of the street. He looks so close but I couldn't come to him easily. I was about to take a step toward him but suddenly, my alarm started ringing.

"AAARRGGHH!!!!" I immediately extended my hand to reach the darn noisy clock and put it off. I went back to laying myself on the bed. I looked at the clock and it was still 6:30 am so I decided to lay back but then, I suddenly remembered that the ride to Wong's Company building is an hour and a half away and I still have lots to do. I immediately went up from bed and started with my day.

Curling my hair took me almost an hour and the most annoying part is that I couldn't even make it successful so I had to just tie my hair back and proceed to go out without breakfast.

I rode a cab on the way and I did my make-up inside the cab with the driver glancing at me every now and then. What's so wrong with doing your make-up inside public transportation?

The traffic made me think I wouldn't be able to get there but luckily, I did 10 minutes before the meeting time.

I was about to pass the street but then, A car drove past me. I knew I was the right one. It's a red light for cars but this car really had the guts to drive past me. My eyes widened and I almost went out of breath because of the sudden shock. "WHAT THE HELL?!" I yelled at the driver though I'm not sure if he could hear me. I looked at the glass window and it's open revealing a guy with thick eyebrows and playful eyes. Looking at him, I could almost say he was hot because of the situation. I called him, "BASTARD!!" I called him, so loud that I am sure it reached the bastard's ears.

Suddenly, the car stopped and his gaze went to me. "What did you just call me, pretty lady?" he asked me. I rolled my eyes because of how he said the 'pretty lady' part. Judging from the look on his face AND how he said those words, he's a playful bastard thinking I'll allow him to call me that.

"A BASTARD!!" I repeated but louder. I gripped my bag and immediately left the road.

Leigh was standing at the entrance when I got there. "Why do you look like that?" she asked me.

"Nothing," I said as I try to calm myself down. I immediately saw the huge mark on her back. A brand that I never had.

I felt very insecure when I saw how she dressed. She's pretty, she has fair skin, unlike mine that looks very pale. Her face looks like she uses milk to wash it every night and morning. She uses branded bags, clothes, and shoes and some of them cost like one year to pay for my rent.

I avoided scanning her and focused on her face which makes me less insecure because I know that I'm quite pretty too. (A//N: Yaasss Queennn)

"How long have you been here?" I asked her. I saw how worried her face was.

"A couple of minutes ago. We need to hurry. We're almost late." she said and as usual, she dragged me along with her again. But luckily, this time, she's not running. "What took you so long?" she asked me.

"Traffic." I lied. Most parts of it were actually because I tried doing my hair. "Sorry." I apologized.

"It's okay. Let's just hope Liam Wong doesn't come in before the meeting time. It doesn't matter if we wait there. Let's just pray that we're there first." she said. We got in the elevator and went to the highest floor. From what I know, Liam Wong owns the building and his office is on the highest floor although their company floor is on the 32nd floor.

We made it to the last floor. When the doors opened, we saw a woman standing at a post desk. "Good morning, ma'am. How may I help you?" she asked politely.

Leigh and I looked at each other before answering. "We are the interns from Wisteria University. The meeting place should be here." Leigh answered.

"Oh, I see. Please follow me. I'll lead you to the meeting room." she said and walked in front.

We won't actually need to interact with Liam Wong. Managers and other staffs were the ones who would intern us and teach us things not actually Lucas Wong himself. That is why I don't understand the point of coming here and meeting the actual CEO of the company.

"Is Mr. Liam Wong here yet?" I asked nervously. As Leigh said, It'd be better if we were here first.

"Not yet, ma'am," she answered politely. I heard how Leigh let out a big breath too. We both looked at each other and smiled in relief.

'thank God.'

"Mr. Wong will be coming any minute now. Please stay right here."

At first, we waited patiently. But as time went by, our patience started to grow thinner.

"I don't like this at all," Leigh whispered right to my ear.

"Yeah," I said impatiently waiting for the popular Liam Wong to enter the room. It's been an hour and a half since we got here. I started to think that I should've just let myself be late than waiting this long.

"Where is--" Leigh stopped talking when the door suddenly opened. Our gaze went in the door's direction. Suddenly, a man whom I didn't expect to see here, came in.

I looked at him as he walked toward the front of the room. I saw how Leigh glanced at me but I couldn't care less. I am so surprised to see the man here.

"So-- you're from Wisteria University," he said as he sit on the huge chair in front.

"Y-yes, sir," Leigh answered and glanced at me wondering why I am not talking.

"O-oh?" he said when he realized it was me. "You're that pretty lady in front of my building."

I have to hide!

My heart is beating loudly and I don't know where to put all my nervousness right now. I couldn't even look at him.

The famous Liam Wong owner of 3 huge companies, son of one of the biggest businessmen in the country. And I who's an infamous poor ass woman just called him a bastard?

Well, he really is. He continued driving despite being at the red light but-- I just can't believe that I did that to him. Not just once, I don't even want to remember how many times I called him a bastard.

"G-good morning, S-sir."

"Oh? Sir? Earlier, you just called me a bastard." he said and smirked. He's enjoying this. He knows that I am not feeling comfortable after what happened earlier. He really is a bastard. But I saw him when I was on the way to the building, how come he came in after an hour and a half making us wait like so?

I also saw how Leigh turned to me in surprise. She didn't know what happened to us earlier. She asked why I don't seem to be in the good mood but I told her to ignore it and said 'nothing'

He laughed. "I didn't notice it was you," he said. My gaze turned to him right away.

'Notice?'

"Well, It's me who chose the both of you to work here temporarily. For knowledge and experience," he said.

Judging from the way he talks, he seems to sound boastful. He's not even boasting about anything but I still think he's giving me the vibe. or is he just playful that is why he talks like that?

"W-why, sir?" Leigh asked.

"Nah, someone asked me to choose students and I chose you because you look prettier than the rest," he answered without a filter. Making me feel I wasn't chosen because I am a good student. "It's fine, you don't have to say 'thanks'."

We didn't. Both I and Leigh stayed silent after hearing what he said. As if we really are going to say 'thank you' after hearing those words coming from him. After knowing that we were not going to say anything, he cleared his throat.

"I forgive you about earlier--" he said making me look at him. "Well, I just wanted to see you here and say 'welcome'." he changed the topic right away. "I think I made the right choice of choosing you." we both looked at him again and I cannot believe that he is actually smirking at us right now. I heard that he whispered something and smiled widely.

Shivers went down my spine and I suddenly wanted to punch a hole in his face.

"My secretary will be escorting you. She's outside. Dismissed." he said. The way he said it was playful.

I expected a lot more mannered CEO but it turned out to be the opposite. The way those words went out of his mouth naturally means he has always been like that his whole life. We both went out of that office silently and met his secretary outside. That is when I let out a huge sigh. I looked at his secretary. I don't know how she managed to work for him despite his offensive mouth.

"This way, ladies." she led the way to the other floor where most staffs and workers work. I looked at Leigh and judging from her face, she seemed not to like meeting that NON-FILTERED GUY.
