A Dangerous Deal

The burly man pulled out a pistol from its holder. Before Sol had any time to react he aimed and fired. Fortunately, the bullet hit Sol in his shoulder, making Sol clutch it. Oliver jumped out of his chair knocking the pistol from the man's hands. "Ian, what the hell are you doing?" Ian gestured to Sol, "He is a killer! And who invited him into the house."

"A killer? No way. Do you think a killer would save me from monsters?"

"My bullets are laced with a sedative. You can watch him confess." Ian looked at his father, "You too, Dad"

When Sol woke up all he could think about was his shoulder and the excruciating pain that came with it. Sol tried to get up but his hands were tied to a table in front of him. He was sitting in what looked like an interrogation room. In front of him was a shaded glass pane which Sol assumed to be a one-way mirror. On the table had a progress bar that was three-fourths complete.

The door open. Ian, with a glossy thin black card, walk to the chair on the other side of the table. Ian had a calm demeanour but Sol could see a trace of disgust in his eyes. Sol shouted, "Where the hell am I?", slamming the table in anger.

"You are under arrest for committing four murders and for kidnapping seven people. You have the right to stay silent or call a lawyer."

This was when Sol glanced at Ian's tier. "5-A" he muttered. Ian placed the card on the table and a white circle pulsed below it. "Recording Started", a monotone blatantly stated.

"What is your motive...Sol?", Ian questioned.

Sol leaned forward with a poker face, "Revenge."

The glint in Sol's eye gave Ian a feeling of fright. Ian was about to say something but then a chime from the table grabbed both their attention. The same mess of data that Sol edited a few hours ago appeared on Sol's comm was displayed on the table.

Sol growled, "How did you get this?"

"From your Comm. And…", the words faltered, "It has information that can solve hundreds of cases! How-"

"Let's make a deal. You let me free and remove me of all charges now and in the future and I will help you get more information."

Ian tried to avoid the question by asked Sol the reason for revenge.

Sol's expression turned to one of extreme grief and anger, "To avenge my father. Jake Turner."

Ian tapped on the table in quick succession and the death certificate of Jake Turner appeared.

"Death by murder? And the case is still unsolved..."

At that moment, the door burst open, startling Ian. A man wearing a black uniform walk in with two people who looked like bodyguards. The man had ruffled black hair and had sharp cheekbone. He had an excited face that lifted Sol's hopes.

"We accept your deal."

Ian turned around in surprise and said, "Lieutenant Dale, you don't have permission to do that and how do you know about the deal?"

"You are new here, aren't you. For the first 6 months of a detective's career, they will be under secret supervision. And I called the chief and sent the files, he told me to accept it."

Sol coughed, "You do know, I'm here, right?"

Lieutenant Dale turned to him and said, "Follow me, Sol. You can pick up your weapons on the way."

Sol got up and walked out of the room. As he walked outside, Sol saw Oliver get up and say, "So, you did kill him."

"I will do anything to avenge my father"

"Even if it means killing everyone?"

Sol looked into his eyes and said, "Yes." Sol walked before Oliver could say anything. Sol tried to forget what happened and walked into a room with the lieutenant. He was given his sword and a pale blue crystal.

A crystal is a form of a weapon that has a bounty restriction. If a person has a low bounty the weapon would shrink back into a crystal. The rare evolving weapons also have the crystal form, making it difficult to differentiate the types.

The crystal in Sol's hand turned into the small yet powerful gun that killed a few monsters with a single bullet. Sol looked at the lieutenant and saw his bounty. "4A.", Sol muttered under his breath. Lieutenant Dale also handed Sol his comm and said, "I saved the instructions on how to contact me on your comm. The data won't get intercepted so you don't have to worry about it."

Sol thanked the officer and walked out of the room and out into the corridor. He followed the signs and made it the reception. Sol stepped outside the building.

A flash of light was seen on the top of an adjacent building but no one noticed it. Sol stepped off the sidewalk. Then a bullet sliced through the air hitting Sol on the chest. Sol suddenly dropped with a pool of dark crimson blood spreading away from him. Sol vision went hazy and was tainted with a red colour. He saw a shadow of the man holding a gun that resembled like a sniper rifle on the roof of the building. Then his vision faded away.
