14 Unpredictable Nora

Everything seemed like it was floating, so light. Every step she took, it seemed she was flying. Nora had snuck out of the room, when the shouting began. She now headed down the stairs, one step at a time. She bumped into something, but ignored it, "Hey you brat." A voice came from behind, but she continued with her flying. And then came a hand, which grabbed her wrist.

"Let go." She managed to speak, trying her best to keep her balance and eyes open.

"You think, you can leave just like that." The man shouted.

"Let me go!" She shouted.

"Hey man, easy there." Somebody came, it was too blurry.

There was an exchange of some heated words. Finally the grip loosened.

"Come with me Nora." The voice said, she finally made out who he was, Luke. "Luke! You're here too." She said excitedly.

"Yeas I am." He held her close and made his way out of the restaurant.

Once out, he took her into the parking lot, "Nora, I'm gonna take you back to your dorm now. Okay?" He said calmly. Nora burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?" He asked confused. She didn't answer but laughed some more. "Come on tell me Nora."

"There's no one there, it's closed. No keys too!" She said throwing her hands up, she lost her balance and fell down with a thud.

"Careful! Are you okay?" Luke said helping her up but she refused to stand up, he sighed.

"Where's Tina?"

"Tina...." She said tapping her finger on her chin. "With Nick, I have nowhere to go." She looked up at him. "I have nowhere to go." She repeated again, looking at Luke with disappointment in her eyes.

"Okay. I'll take you home. Now get up." He said reaching out to her. "Home?" She muttered, then shook her head.

"Get up Nora." He said frustrated.

"No." She was adamant.

"Fine." He held her under her arms and picked her up. "Ow!" She screamed, which made a few heads turn.

"Now what?" He looked down, "Your foot?" She nodded.

He shook his head and scooped her into his arms at once. Nora squeaked. "Put me down you asshole!" She shouted.

"Nora! Don't." Luke said firmly. She looked at him, surprised and then giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck. He started walking towards the car, while Nora kept staring at him.

"What?" He finally said.

"You are... so... beautiful, for a jerk." She said happily.

"What?"

"Yesh... So beautiful." She put her hands on his cheeks and pulled herself up, and looked him in the eye, "Perfect!" She said, "Blue eyes, I like it." She bit her lower lip and started laughing.

"Just stay still. Will you?!" Luke said, breaking free from her hold.

Once at the car, he lowered her to her feet. Her head barely reached his shoulders, and his body was big enough to hide her completely. He opened the door and she got in reluctantly, he fastened the seat belt and shut the door. He sighed, "Damn Rachel, what have you done?" He reached on the other side and opened the door.

He got in and turned to look at Nora, she was asleep, sleeping peacefully without any worries. He smiled at her and relaxed.

The ride to his house was peaceful, Nora woke up occasionally, looked around her and went back to sleep.

His phone rang, an unknown number, "Hello."

"Hey Luke, how's Nora?" Joseph was on the other side.

"Yeah she's fine. Sorry man I forgot about you in the midst of the chaos."

"Never mind. I saw everything, just wanted to know how you guys were. I'll hang up then. Take care."

"Yeah. Thanks." He hung up.

They reached his house, he parked the car in the underground garage and got out. He went to the other side and opened the door, Nora was still fast asleep. He unfastened the belt, then slid one hand under her knees while the other supported her back and once again she was in his arms, this time without any fight.

"Jerry lock the car and send over the keys." He said to a man who was walking towards him.

"Yes sir." The man replied.

He got into the elevator and pressed the button to the top floor. After what seemed like a few floors, Nora woke up and looked up at him in a daze. He smiled, "Good morning, or should I say good night."

Nora smiled and straightened herself, she wrapped her hands around his neck, her hands cold against his warm skin. She closed in and rested her forehead against his, breathing heavily.

Luke stilled, she had caught him off guard. She looked directly into his eyes, her eyes shimmering, she smiled, "Gotcha." She closed her eyes and fell back asleep.

"Fuck." Luke murmured.

The rest of the elevator ride, he just stared at Nora, waiting for her to wake up again, she didn't. His attention diverted when the elevator doors opened. He stepped out and moved towards his door, trying his best not to wake her up.
