2 The secret

Nora woke up to the ceiling of her dorm room. "Hey you okay?" Tina said, standing at the edge of the bed. "What did you see this time?" She asked.

Nora shifted in her bed, "I don't know, it just went black."

"Nora you got to tell uncle and aunt about this. It's the third time this week!"

"No I can't. They'll worry. I cannot worry them anymore. It's one of the reasons why I came all the way here, to attend this university."

"Fine I understand, but don't you think if somebody notices it, you might be discovered." Tina exclaimed.

"No! It can't happen, no one can know that I am one of them. Tina promise me you won't let it out." Nora pleaded with fear in her eyes.

"Hey, don't worry. No one will know and I have guarded your secret from the day we met. Just rest for the day, I've called in sick for you."

"But-"

"No buts, just sleep. I'll wake you up at dinner time" Tina said moving towards the door "Now sleep." With this she was gone. Nora was left alone in the room.

The wheels started turning in her head, thinking of every scenario that could have happened if Tina wasn't around. If somebody else would've found her she would've been taken to the infirmary, everyone would've known and everything would've been over, finished.

She put her arm on her eyes and tried to sleep, trying her very best to stop overthinking.

The secret of her being one of them, the Majestro, was something she had been hiding for as long as she could remember.

But she wasn't just a Majestro, she was a rare kind, a clairvoyant, she could look into the future. Her ability never proved to be a hindrance in her life, it was fun having a precognition. Until she realized the kind of the society she lived in, if anybody knew of her ability, her life would have been completely different, who knew what could have happened.

Until her parents came in, even though adopted, they treated her like their own and protected her from the dangerous world. They taught her how to hide her powers and lead a normal life, like everyone.

She tried her best to forget her abilities, be normal like everyone but all in vain, she had to live with it. She had foreseen a lot of things, good and bad. Being a clairvoyant was already mentally exhausting and now it was going out of control.

She lost her consciousness, not once but thrice. And every time she saw nothing, just pitch darkness and some muffled voices. She was afraid, but she couldn't ask for help. Tina was a human, she could only support her. Her parents, she didn't want them to worry, not anymore.

Nora pulled the blanket over her head. "It'll be fine, everything will be fine." She whispered to herself.

Time seemed to slow down, every second that passed, seemed like forever. And after what seemed like an eternity, sleep came and she dozed off.
