16 He isn't a jerk

"Master, first step completed." The woman said.

He smiled, "You aren't useless like the last one."

She nodded, "Giving a glimpse of a made up reality is a good way to weaken her barriers. It will take some time, but once we're in, our work will be much easier." She said.

"I understand." He said.

"Continue working on it, I need results and I need them fast."

The woman nodded.

The doorbell woke up Luke, he climbed down the stairs and went at the door and looked at the screen, it was Jerry. He opened the door, "Sir, your keys." Jerry handed over the car keys to him. "Thank you."

"Anything else, sir." He asked.

"Not now. I'll call you if I want anything." Luke said.

"I'll take my leave sir." Jerry turned to leave and Luke closed the door. He put the keys in the tray and went straight to the guest room.

Nora was still fast asleep, completely unaffected by the doorbell, she was curled up in the middle of the bed hugging a pillow, while the blanket was kicked down to the corner of the bed. He stood at the door for a moment, taking the scene in.

He moved toward the bed and reached for the blanket and her foot caught his eye, it was better now, at least it was back to its original size. He covered her up and left the room, his mind was already in a complete mess and he didn't wish for any more incidents.

He went back into his room, it was already past ten and there was no point in going back to sleep, he went straight into the shower.

"Mmm" Nora woke up, she blinked a few times to clear her vision and looked up at the ceiling, it was unfamiliar. She bolted upright and swung around a little, she looked around, "Where the heck am I?" She muttered. She removed the blanket and got out of the bed and stood up, a sharp pain jolted through her foot and she stumbled back onto the bed.

She looked down, it was her left foot, it was all bandaged up, quite professionally though. She looked at it confused, then slowly stood up and limped her way out of the room.

She couldn't believe what she saw next, the house was more than just a house, it was enormous. She limped her way and entered the living room, it was subtle but luxuriously designed. It had a fireplace above which was a big flat screen TV. She felt a throbbing pain in her foot and started towards the couch but something caught her attention from the corner of her eye, the house had floor-to-ceiling windows which offered a panoramic view of the city skyline, it was beautiful. She moved towards it and watched in awe the picturesque view in front of her. The view was alluring, the sun was out and it made the scenery breathtaking.

"You're up." Nora was pulled back to reality. She looked in the direction of the voice to spot Luke. He stood at the first level in a pair of faded jeans and a white t-shirt. His copper brown hair, looked damp and fell beautifully on his forehead, his blue eyes shone like tiny blue sapphires under the sunlight coming through the windows. For a moment, Nora thought he looked godly.

"Stared enough?" He said with a smirk. Nora jerked, she didn't realize she was staring at him. Her face was turning hot due to embarrassment.

"I... You..." She stammered.

"Wait there." He said moving towards the stairs and descended down, Nora unconsciously followed each of his movements.

Within seconds he was in front of her, and now the light accentuated his features even more. He towered over her, his body was lean and muscular but not bulky. His arms thick and muscular, face chiseled to perfection and with that ever so charming smile he looked like a heavenly species.

"Nora, you fine?" He said touching her forehead, "You're flushed."

"Yeah, I'm fine." She said pushing his hand away. She gathered her thoughts and finally managed to speak, "What am I doing here, and my foot, what happened?"

"You don't remember?" He said raising an eyebrow. "Never mind, I didn't expect you to. Come have a seat I'll tell you." He said motioning to the couch. "You can walk?" He asked.

Nora nodded and made her way to the couch limping. She settled down on the couch and was surprised to see how soft it was, it felt good. Luke took a seat on the other end of the couch.

"So where do I start?" He said with shrug.

"We went to Big Joe's, had a good time, then I had that drink. The rest is quite blurry."

"So-"

Nora cut him off, "Wait that drink." Her eyes wide open, she looked at Luke questioningly. He nodded, "Damn it! It was Rachel. Did she spike my drink?" She mumbled. He nodded again, "Fuck. Why would she do that?"

He shrugged, "Damn it! Speak something, will you?!" She said annoyed.

"You are figuring out everything yourself, didn't think my assistance was needed."

"Damn her. She's dead, I'll make that sure." She was about to blow up.

"Hey easy there, calm down."

"Calm down?! You want me to calm down after what she did?"

"No that's not what I meant, I meant no killing." He said with a smile. Nora gave him a cold stare.

"Never mind. What happened to my foot?" She said moving it upwards.

"You sprained it."

"How?"

"You fell down."

"Where?"

"Parking lot."

"Can't you answer me properly!" She was furious. She looked up at him, his face was devoid of the expression he had a few moments ago, his face was now stern.

He shifted in his place and moved closer to her. "I will answer each of your questions but first you have to answer mine." He said, his tone serious.
