1 Chapter 1

The train door opened, I stood on the yellow line waiting for the people to get off. When will the city government gonna change this train, it is so old, I thought.

Living in a small town where sometimes the government doesn't care. The train is old, the seats are in two columns that can fit two people each. I entered the train and tried looking for a vacant seat and it's on the far right end of the car where I am in. I walked and took the seat near the window, I was lost in my thought when I heard a baritone voice, "Hi, can I sit here?"

When I looked up I was greeted by a handsome guy that has strong facial features and tantalizing deep eyes. Being a commuter for years I've memorized almost every single face. I've encountered different kinds of people but that was the first time meeting someone who made me nervous even if he's not doing anything.

"Uhm, excuse me?" I was snapped out of my thoughts with his voice. "Y-yeah, of course" I stuttered. I immediately looked outside the window as he sat beside me.

Oh my goodness, did I just checked him out back there? I thought to myself. I closed my eyes in embarrassment. I heard the train door closed and the train started moving. We sat in silence until asked, "I've never seen you before"

"Yeah, I just moved in Eden last week" He answered. "Oh, that explains. I am a regular commuter that's why I… asked" I answered sheepishly. I am agitated the whole time because his presence is just so strong, it is making me nervous and uncomfortable. I seated with guys before but their presence did not affect me like this.

Another silence passed, "I'm Kevin, you are…?" He asked. I looked at his then answered, "Madie"

"Nice meeting you, Madie" He said then smiled. He looked more handsome when he smile, I averted my gaze as I felt my face heated up. I nodded, "Me too, K-Kevin"

"So where are you getting off?" He asked. "In 13 Avenue station" I answered. He nodded. "Oh, is your work around that area?"

"Yeah, a few minutes of walk. How about you? I asked. "I will be getting off two stations after you" He answered. "Hmm, may I ask you what do you do?" I asked.

He nodded, "I'm a writer"

"Really? Wow, that's cool" I exclaimed. He chuckled while scratching his eyebrow, "Well, not really."

"You write novels?" I asked. "Yeah, mostly romance novels" He answered. "Ohhh, I never expect you to be Mr. Romantic" I teased. He laughed, "Why, what do you expect me to be?" He asked while staring at me. I blinked, "Nothing!" I laughed awkwardly. Whew, that was some intense stare right there, I thought.

He grinned, "How about you, what do you do? He asked. "Ohh, I am office clerk in a company" He nodded, "What is the name of your company?"

"Brighton Inc." I answered. "I see, that's one good company" He said. "It is" I agreed.

"We are arriving at 13 Avenue station, please wait for the train to fully before getting off. Thank you"

I heard the intercom so I fixed myself. "It's my station" I said to him. "Oh yeah" He stood so I can get off the seat. "Thanks" I muttered. The train stopped and the people started getting off the train. "Till we meet again Madie" He said lowly, I looked at him and nodded.

I am the last one to walk off the train and I turn to see the train already moving. My eyes followed the train until I saw him looking at me, he was looking outside the window until the train is far from sight.

I turned around and started to walk out of the station.

Brighton Inc.

"Good morning Madie" I was greeted by my colleague while I was waiting for the elevator. I turned to my let and saw Emily. "Hi, good morning too Emily" I smiled. Emily has been my colleague for five years but she was already here in this company earlier before me.

"The boss is planning to launch a new project and he is giving this task to our department" She informed. "Really? When will be the launching" I asked. "I think it will be first week next month" She answered. "What? That's too early" I exclaimed. "Yes, another tiring day for us. I am already tired thinking about it" She said.

I frowned and sighed, the elevator door opened and we entered. I pressed 5, then the door closed and the elevator started going up. The elevator dinged and we walk off the elevator and I went straight to my cubicle.

"Talk to you later Madie" Emily tapped my shoulder as she walked to her cubicle. "Sure!" I said.

I took my seat then I started my work. While I was typing on my computer, Kevin's face flashed in my mind. The guy's seriously handsome, I tilted my head while thinking. I thought he will be cold but he is surprisingly nice and he has a nice voi—

"Madie!" I heard someone called me. "Yes!" I said loudly making my co-workers look at me. "Sorry" I said sheepishly. I looked at Emily who called me, "What are you thinking that you can't hear me huh?" She said while chuckling. "Nothing, you surprised me though. What is it? Why did you call me?" I asked.

"Oh, we're having a meeting. Come on" She said so I immediately grabbed my things and followed her to the conference room.

The meeting went on smoothly that I didn't notice it is already lunch time. Team leader Mark looked at his watch, "Okay, that would be all. You already got your job designation and if you have any more questions, just ask me. Okay? Adjourn."

We all got up to our seat and walk out of the conference room. Emily walked beside me, "Let's have lunch together Madie" She said. "Sure" I answered as we enter to the elevator to go to the cafeteria.

After eating I excused myself, "Emily, I am going to the wash room don't wait for me" I said. "You sure?" She asked. I nodded and started walking to the washroom, I entered a cubicle when I heard the other cubicles open.

"Hey, did you notice that girl Madie Gray from the planning department? I heard the girl said. "Yeah, what about her?" Another girl asked. "She feels off and she's kind of aloof" The first girl answered. "I even saw her talking to herself, at first I thought she was talking to someone because she sounded mad but when I looked closely there was no one there" She added. "That's creepy, I heard rumors about her that she is talking to herself but I never expected it was true" The other said. "I know right" The girl said then I heard them walk out of the washroom.

I fixed myself and opened my cubicle, I walk to the sink and washed my hands. I'll just pretend I did not hear that, some people really can't mind their own business. I thought to myself and walked out of the washroom.
