2 Chapter 2

First-Person Narrative

Zelcul City High School

Have you ever just wondered in your entire lifespan, just wondered why we went to school. I mean it's so pointless, anything after 5th grade was completely useless. We just wake up every day in every morning, came to this school building, study and learn sh*t that we're just gonna forget the next day, and make friends that'll just backstab us later on. Yet here I was sitting in History Class with 20 other students with me. Some taking notes, others sleeping, a few throwing paper balls around, and most not even listening to the teacher in front of us, giving a lecture. As I looked sideways to the classroom window, I dozed off, thinking about what we had for lunch today.

That's when I felt someone tapping me on the shoulder multiple times to get my attention. When I turned sideways, I saw Kyle whispering to me.

"Mrs. Renndel has been calling you multiple times, you ok?"

I turned to see Mrs. Rendell gave me a raised eye with her crossed together, while the whole class was staring at me confused.

"Ms. Yandell thank you for joining, please tell us which countries were allied by the triple entente?"

It was obviously Great Britain, France, and Russia, we learned this cr*p in Middle School reviewing stuff like this was stupid.

"I don't know," I said, putting my head down.

The class was quiet, and without even looking I knew Mrs. Rendell was furious.

"Tch," she said under her breath.

"Daphne, could you please answer the question," Mrs. Rendell asked.

Daphne, that name did not sound familiar. I put my head up to see a ginger-haired girl a few seats in front of me. I didn't know everyone's names in the class, but I could've sworn I've never seen her.

"The answer is Great Britain, France, and Russia," she said.

"Thank you, Daphne," Mrs. Rendell said.

I turned over to Kyle who was right next to me.

"Who's that girl?"

"Who, Daphne, I have never seen her,"

"That's cause you never pay attention in class, she transferred really late, maybe at the end of September, she's quite popular now, since she's smart and pretty," Kyle said looking at Daphne affectionately.

"Weirdo," I thought.

As I turned to face front, I saw her turn her head to stare at me, I somewhat quickly put my head down, when I looked back up she was already looking back in front.

Why the hell did she turn back, just to see me.

The first bell had rung, and everyone practically rushed out of the classroom.

Just a few more hours, and I can finally leave this hellhole, I thought.

Just a few more hours.

Third-Person Narrative

At the southside of Zelcul High School, stood the reconstruction area, and there lie three teenagers, sitting on a porch eating lunch. Ramin, Sina, and Daphne.

"Wait, so you went to a boarding school for your middle school years," Ramin asked while biting into his sandwich.

"Yeah, I was supposed to go this year, but I wanted to go to this High School instead, it caused a big thing with my family, because my father was the headmaster," Daphne said while sipping her soda can.

"Wow, you're smart, pretty, and you come from a rich family, geez I want to be you," Sina said, feeling depressed.

"There's nothing awesome about being me, to be honest, it's just a depressing life," Daphne said, taking a gulp of her soda.

Ramin and Sina looked at Daphne, somewhat a little confused.

"Oh by the way that girl, Risena, do you know anything about her,"

Ramin and Sina looked even more confused, why would she care about her.

"No, to be honest, she doesn't really talk to anyone besides Kyle, she's practically a loner, everyone including the teachers calls her Risa tho," Ramin said, taking another bite of his sandwich.

"Oh I see," Daphne muttered, kind of disappointed.

Sina playing a game on her phone, somewhat sparked up as if she had just remembered something, "Actually, I went to middle school with her, she was a lot different than she is now,"

"Really can you tell me in detail," Daphne said getting interested?

"Well, in 6th to 7th grade, she was the smartest in our class, and was super sociable and nice, but something happened during the summer, and when we came back for 8th grade, she was a changed person,"

"What happened,"

"I think it was...oh yeah...her mom had died somewhere in the alleyway, my friend's mom worked around the area and said, how awful she looked when she died, there was like this weird hole in her stomach or something," Sina said, making a disgusted look.

"Who is she with now,"

"One of her mom's friends, they live somewhere down The Outcrub, don't really know details to be honest,"

"I see, how did she change, Risa I mean,"

"Um well she stopped being friends with everyone except for Kyle, and her grades went under too, it's like she became the opposite person she used to be, why do you want to know anyway,"

"Oh um...I was just curious," Daphne said, taking the last gulp of her soda, she threw it in a nearby trashcan, landing it perfectly.

"We should get to class before the bell ri-," before Daphne can finish her sentence she felt a buzz in her pocket.

When she pulled it out, it was her phone, she saw a message notification.

(Unknown):

I'm at the backside alleyway of

The school building meet me

There, now.

"Tch," Daphne muttered under her breathe.

"What happened?" Ramin asked, taking the last bite of his sandwich.

"It's nothing you two go ahead without me, I need to be somewhere, see you next period," Daphne said, running off.

As Daphne ran off, Ramin and Sinha looked at each other dumbfounded.

"She's so weird, you know," Sina said.

"Yeah, well she's hot," Ramin said, only to make Sina look at him slightly disgusted.

As Daphne walked around the back alley of the construction area, she heard a deep crashing noise, coming from the trash area. She took a few steps back to see a male figure standing in the darkness. He had red fuzzy hair covering his eyes, with a black robe on him, covering the rest of his body.

"Did you find anything on the girl,?" he asked.

"A little, her mother died, and she lives with some else now, no one really knows much about her, I befriended the only person who went to the same Middle School as her, but she didn't give me much info,"

"You've been here for a month, and that's all you have, the first semester at the academy starts in 2 days," He said, greeting his teeth, and getting quite angry.

He had an awful dark aura around him, with a frightening voice, making Daphne yelp.

"If you just give me more time I can ju-,"

Before Daphne can finish, he cuts her off.

"Forget it, Sebastian already found her location, your time here on this mission is done,"

"Seven, you can't do that," Daphne pleaded.

"You had enough time, today's your last day, your father put you on this mission to test you and clearly you failed, no wonder you're a disgrace to the academy," he professed, before walking into the darkness.

Daphne stood there stunned, biting her lip, and getting frustrated. She tried to maintain her composure but she was surely about to go mad.

"Dammit," she muttered.

"DAMMIT!,"

First-Person Narrative

It was finally over, my day in the hellhole was finally over.

"Kyle, do you wanna go to the cafe shop, " I asked, almost getting pushed by the hundreds of students leaving the school gate.

"Can't me, Lizzie, and her friends are going to hang at the park, wanna join,"

"Oh it's fine, I prefer not to hang with a lot of people,"

Kyle gave me a disappointed look.

"You sure, you can make friends,"

Kyle always wanted me to open up to people, I was popular in school as the girl whose mother died. Many people pitied me, some laughed at me, and some even offered to help me just due to the fact that I was an orphan. But that was the thing. I didn't need help. I was happy being by myself, and I'm glad that I don't have to open myself up to people. Because if I did, id just scares them away, just like I scared away countless people I considered friends.

"No really, I prefer it this way," I said, giving him a forced smile.

"Ok, well see you tomorrow," and with that he ran off to the parking lot, leaving me surrounded with teenagers from every corner leaving the building.

I checked my phone, to see any messages.

There I saw Nana's unread message.

Nana

Risa, I'll be back late

I'll bring takeout, so don't eat dinner

And if you're not doing anything

Important come straight home

I didn't feel like going home and study, so I wrote a lie.

Risa

I'm going to the cafe

With kyle, I'll be home before 9

Don't worry about me

Nana

You better be there

When I get home, have fun tho

Don't drink, smoke, or party

See you later, love you

Risa

Yeah, you too,

And with that, I shut my phone off. It was currently 5:15. I had a couple of hours to get home, and I had to be there before Nana since the door was still open.

That's when I thought had come to my head, it was Friday, thus it was the same day...THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AT THE BOOKSHOP.

Scratching my head, I quickly turned around, and ran to a nearby train station, bumping into multiple people and not even saying sorry.

The bookshop was owned by a certain lady that knew my mother, in return to know some secrets my mother kept from me, I helped her out in her store.

I was able to get into the train, almost slipping my way in, as it had just started moving.

I'll get there in time I thought.

***

As I skipped steps up the stairs of the train station, the moment my feet hit the mainland, I ran past the many people walking by me.

Turning around different corners, to find the orange building that was lumped to the side like a half triangle. Unlike all the tall buildings next to it, this orange building had only 2 stores so it stood out pretty well.

The Owner called it "The BookWorld".
