5 Trust Fund Baby

"What's wrong?" Theodore asked with concern.

"I think I left my student card at that crazy guy's place," I said as I began to frantically pat down my body for any signs of a card-shaped object.

"Get a replacement card? I know it opens your room door, but security can issue one for you downstairs and revoke access to the lost card in no time," he reassured.

"It's not that," I said wearily, "it's the fact that I have access to all the other people's rooms as a janitor, that's the main issue."

"I'm sure if we just went downstairs and asked security we can get a better answer than sitting here panicking, don't you think?" Theodore suggested, and gestured for us to head down to the main lobby.

"Fine..." I sighed, "but I doubt it would do anything, I should just tell Robert about this and resign like I'm supposed to."

"You don't know if you're getting fired yet," Theodore laughed as he walked down the stairs. His head turned back towards me every couple of seconds to make sure that I am following him. He really didn't have to be so considerate, it's not like I didn't know where the main lobby and security office is in my own building. But overall, it was a kind and thoughtful gesture from someone who I'd usually refer to as a stranger an hour ago.

As we passed the main lobby and reached the main security office, there seemed to be no one within the premises. There was a small sign on the front desk of the office that read 'On Patrol' hastily written over a piece of paper.

Confused and frustrated at the turn of events, I sighed deeply and turned to Theo. "I think fate is telling me I need to get fired today, I should just head to Robert's and end this, and hope I don't get in more trouble as is," I said.

"We should just wait for them to come back, don't give up yet," Theo encouraged.

"It's fine, you don't have to go out of your way to help me with this, I've stalled you from your errands long enough and it's already late," I refused.

"How else are you going to get into your room tonight without it?"

"My sister lives with, and Margaret, our floor's housekeeper, usually stays there and watches my sister until I come back," I explained, "I can probably just knock and borrow their access key until I get a new one."

"Ah, so you were looking for this," a familiar face approached us before Theodore and I could realize.

"Oh fuck," I said, almost immediately as I turned to him.

The rude top floor asshole was standing right in front of us. I panicked and unwillingly taking a few steps back as he got closer, almost crashing into Theo. The guy was clearly angry, and his irritated expression still evident on his face.

Was he going to take me to court over something so trivial?

Theo was utterly confused about this encounter, but he soon figured out the rest of the puzzle when he noticed my student card in the other guy's hand.

"You little sh-"

"I see you have found my card, I will take that!" I interrupted loudly, trying to grab my student card out of his hands. A distraction technique, I thought. It might help distract him from the real problem.

"Not so fast!" He grabbed and pulled my wrists towards him one-handed, causing me to stagger forward, off-balance. He then tucked my student card back into his pants pocket with his free hand.

"Kindly let go!" I said as I tried to free myself from his grasp, "this is assault!"

"Whitehall!" Theo said and stepped in, his hands on the arm of the egotistic jerk. "The lady said not to touch her."

"Oh involving me wasn't bad enough, you have to get him in your scheme too?" The guy sneered at me mockingly.

"Shut the fuck up, you know nothing," I spat back angrily. I had enough of this guy walking and talking like he owns the damn place. I was going to get fired anyway, so might as well teach this asshole a lesson when I still can.

"Damn it, Whitehall, we don't want any trouble," Theodore said as he walked towards the guy.

"We? Who's we? You better back off, Walker!" he warned, "this isn't your business."

Theo looked a little intimidated, but the jerk wasn't backing off one bit. Sighing at the extremely uncomfortable situation, Theo said, "let go of her first and we can settle this in a mature manner."

Without much convincing, the jerk forcefully dropped my wrists. At least he had common sense enough not to cause a ruckus near the main lobby.

"Well, full offense intended, since I'm getting fired anyways... But you have the personality of a pile of dung," I glared at the man while holding onto my own wrists that had already been bruised.

"Hey! You trespassed into my room!"

"I have fucking authorization to clean your room!" I yelled back, "my student card gives me access to your room, how the hell do you think I got in? Screaming 'Open Sesame' in front of your room and hoping for the best?!"

"That's a lie, you were trying to seduce me with this ridiculous outfit, it was definitely Dean's idea, wasn't it?" He pointed at my clothing and sneered.

That's when I snapped, I slapped him across the cheek and stomped on his foot immediately after, causing him to yell in pain and jump around like a fool. Theodore let out a small chuckle at the turn of events.

"What the hell was that for?" He shouted, "you stupid hooker, you're going to pay for this!"

"For the love of God, don't flatter yourself!" I sad annoyingly, "And who the fuck is Dean anyway? He sounds like a call girl's pimp!" I could feel my cheeks flaming red with anger by now, not only did this asshole bruise my wrist, he also humiliated me in public and private.

"Dean? Doesn't he manage the fucking school? The Dean?" The jerk barked back.

Oh my god, wait. I think he thought the school Dean's name is actually Dean.

Suddenly I broke into laughter. Clearly, this guy was a complete idiot; he was so sheltered that he didn't even know the difference between a title and a name. He was the epitome of all the rich kids at Valentino – literal babies that have never bothered to work for something they wanted a day in their lives.

"Listen, buddy," I finally said in between laughs, "the school Dean's name is not actually Dean, you trust fund baby, scumbag piece of shit excuse of a human being. You think your wealth and status will attract girls, but it will never attract the right kind of girls. Not every girl out there is trying to get into your pants."

I must have hit a nerve with him because his face suddenly turned into the face of hell, boiling hot and about to explode at any second.

Theo let out a silent chuckle as I made my sassy commentary but quickly patted on the jerk's shoulder to cheer him up. "Hayden, please calm down. Sienna isn't part of that thing, if she was I would have seen her name on the list."

So, his name was Hayden, I thought. It was definitely an uncommon name, but who was he really? If he was just rich, it was better than being rich and influential. God, do I even hear myself? Why do I even care?

"Listen, Hayden," I said," if you want to talk like adults about this then we can tomorrow, wherever you want. We can settle this once and for all. But right now, I'm sleepy and I don't want to deal with a child's tantrum, so back off. And, most importantly, I want my student card back," I said plainly.

"Hell no, we're settling this right now. You're coming with me!" Hayden said as he dragged me out of the cafeteria. Theo was quick to catch up, but Hayden's persistence was almost worthy of applause.

"Keep following us and you'll have to face your family, Walker," Hayden warned.

Theo stopped immediately looking surprised at his words, but he knew well that Hayden was capable of doing much worse if you were against his agenda. Eventually, Theo became a distant figure and I was being dragged by Hayden something to somewhere.

"Where are we going? Ugh!" I said while trying to shake off Hayden's grip on me.

"To find Robert you dingus," he replied blandly.

We reached the basement floor and he continuously dragged me to Robert's office, but all the lights have been shut off and there seemed to be nobody on the premises.

"He left," I said mockingly, "boo-hoo."

"Yeah," Hayden paused, "I fucking figured."

"Can you let go of m-"

"No," he tugged on my arm and grabbed it tighter within his grasp, "you're coming to my place if you want your student card back. I'm not letting you leave my sight, you're suspicious and I don't trust that you were telling the truth and I am going to find out tomorrow morning if I have to."

Wait, what?

"This is against the law! You can't just force people to stay in your rooms! This is kidnapping!" I screamed out.

"I'm fucking Hayden Whitehall, I can do whatever the fuck I want," he said.

And that's when I remembered that the Whitehalls were one of the most powerful and influential in the world.
