The Recovery

As morning approaches the light flickers on instantly waking me up. I open my eyes and saw both the Dr and Alice coming in through the door. As quickly as I could I sit up on the bed.

"Morning, don't mind us Mr. Nesser. We are just here as promised to start running some tests and get you moving again." The Dr said with enthusiasm. Alice on the other hand seemed a little distanced and not looking my way at all.

"Morning you two. So what are these tests you very briefly mentioned last night?" I asked with hopes of getting a straight answers. The Dr didn't seemed phased cause then he started to ask me way more questions. Like what was my favorite foods, color, what was I involved in school, etc. and etc.

During this time Alice took some blood and other simples from my body. Then checking my vitals right after. After a few hours I finally had my first meal since waking up. But it wasn't to appealing. At least it didn't taste bad.

Later that day, I got to leave my room and went to a few other rooms where they did other tests. This went on for about a week as far as I can tell. After a full week of tests Dr A122 came to my room one afternoon with 2 other 'people'.

"Felix, I just want to thank you for your cooperation these past days. I have some good news and some bad news as well." As he was saying that one of the two 'people' walks up to me. He look like a werewolf like from the horror movies I use to watch. He towers over the doc and was very muscular too.

"So this is the mysterious human I have heard so much about, hmm." He said in a surprisingly clear and dignified tone. Not at all of what I imagine. "My name is Commander Julius Silver and I am the commanding officer of this colony class ship. It's great news to know you have waken up and mostly recover." Dr A122 walks to the other side of the bed and let out a slight cough.

"Now Sir, I really need to explain the results to Felix here." He says but the commander gave him a bone chilling stare. But only for a moment and that was all it took for the doc. "Sir my apologies but we need to tell him about what we uncovered."

"You are correct Dr. I just had to introduce myself to this young man." The commander expression change almost instantly and took a breath. "Now Felix we will explain a few things and give you a choice on what you will do after this." The other person walks to the center end of the bed. Just like the fantasy novels it was looked like a lizard person. The person scale color were like an amber and yellowish tone.

"Hello human my name is Jean Rockskin. I am second in command." She said in a sweet but raspy voice. "We have a lot to explain but please bare with it." She then looked at the Dr and give him a nod to proceed.

"Right so as I saying we have some good news and some bad news." I started to brace myself to hear what he was about to tell me. "With all the tests we performed on you; they were negative for any abnormalities. However we did could not identify the reason for your long and unusual sleep. I know I have already asked this past week but what do you remember just before you woke up."

"I don't remember anything except for it was a ordinary day and I went to sleep like I have always did." As I was recalling what happened this past week. The funny thing is I remember everything that happened before my sleep. The Dr looks at me and taped on his tablet again.

"I see, well other than that we did found one thing that was very strange in your DNA. It was discovered that you had a mutation and you actually have a extra chromosome. We also found that there was no deterioration in your cells or DNA. When you went to sleep your body literally stop all function except for the very bare minimum to survive. It was as if you only slept for a night when you woke up a week ago." I was taken back of what was being said. Right before he continued I interrupted him.

"So what beside a thing with my DNA you and all your futuristic machines couldn't find out why I have been asleep for over 2 thousand years! So what I'll be like this forever like a damn vampire!" As I scream out in frustration the dr and the commander grabbed my shoulder.

"I understand the frustration and anger right now but please I have more to explain." The dr said in a calming tone. "Now when you woke up your body resume all normal function again. This is why it's so mysterious to us. Like I said before there has never been a written case like this before. Now if your up to it I want to introduce to you the leader of the research group that found you. If you are up to it that is." I quickly calm down and took a few breaths. I told them I'll need sometime to think by myself.

They look at each other and nodded. Commander and doc release me. The vice commander turns around and left the room. The Commander soon followed. The doc stood there for a moment longer then turns to the door and started to walk out.

"Take your time to think about what you want or don't want. Now the choice is yours." He said as he left the room. Now in the room alone I was staring to think. What do I want? Who do I want to be now? How can I live here and now? All these questions started to pop in my mind suddenly. With no clear answers what is there for me here. Suddenly I saw Alice walks in and come to my side.

"Are you ok?" She asked with a very concern face. I nodded at her and grabbed her hand. To my surprise she grasp it with no hesitation. "I know it's a lot to take in but know we will support you on what you decide." She then leans in and gave me a quick kiss on the forehead. I was taken back with the kiss since I thought I screw up really bad a week again.

"I know, it's just so much is unknown to me now. I just don't know what to do now. Do you have any suggestions Alice?" I asked her while still holding her hand.

"You could just stay here.... with me?" She said as she smile. She is now looking at me with a look I haven't seen her do yet. I couldn't help but to think if I didn't do it now I'll regret later. So I pulled her towards me and kiss her on the lips. She didn't resist if anything she returned my feelings and kiss me back. "What took you so long?" She said and kiss me again.

For that night we were inseparable and made love to each other. The next morning I woke up with her still beside me and in my arms. Looking at her I couldn't help but to think I want to be here for her. She wakes up after a few minutes with a big smile on her face.

"Morning" I said to her and kissed her forehead. She snuggle her head against my chest and looked into my eyes.

"Morning" she said in a very sweet tone. "So have you decided on anything?" As she ran her fingers across my bare chest.

"I think I have but I just need to confirm a few things with your father and everyone else who is involve with this." She looked confuse and sit up slightly. "Now, now don't look at me like that. I just need to find out if my idea will work out. If it does I want you to come with me if possible." She smiles and hugs me tightly.

"Of course I will!" She says happily. At that moment the door opens and Dr A122 walks in.

"Aww so here you are Alice. You had me worried when you didn't return last night. So glad you two getting along so well. But if you please get dress we have some work to do." With both of us embarrassed now she slides out of bed and quickly got dressed. She then left the room past her father with bear red face.

"Well wasn't that interesting." He said jokingly. "Did you figure out a few things since yesterday, Mr Nesser?" I could tell that now he was being serious.

"I have but I do want to confirm a few things first though."

"What's that?" He asked with his full attention towards me. " what do you want to confirm?"

"First I want to talk to the research leader that found me and secondly I want to leave here and go on journey with Alice." The doctor is now looking at me as if I taken away his toy.

"The first request is fine but why do you want to bring my daughter with you." He asked in a slight threatening tone. "You do know she is very precious to me right?"

"I understand that but I want to be with her since she the only one besides you who understand my situation. I also care for her very much." Going red in the face as I was saying this.

A few more days past and I was told that the group leader will be available to talk the day after the next. When the day arrived I was in a conference style room. I'm with Alice and Dr A122 sitting beside me. Soon I may get what I'm looking for. While holding Alice hand the door opened and 3 walk through the door.
