6 Chapter 6 - Awakening [2]

Valier POV:

I was lying down in bed, today had been eventful, I had awakened as a mage. I had also nearly died while doing so, unbeknownst to me, awakening could be a dangerous process. But thankfully, I survived, I've received check ups and whatnot and as of now. All I need is to rest for a few days and I'll back to normal.

After my awakening, I felt something, am urge of sorts. I believe its to do with me possessing a Demon's Bloodline. It's to find out my 'True Name.' A Demon finding out their true name grants them power, there's no real definite way to find it though. But, there's still plus sides to having the Demons Bloodline; I start off stronger than an average mage, have better potential than most mage and I have a better Mana pool

But, that's what anyone with a Demons' Bloodline, AKA a 'Demon Blood' has. But when I awakened, I felt the urge to find out my True Name and I felt a seed of sorts 'growing in me'. The seed is related to my Demon Bloodline, the more it grows the stronger I'll get. The only downside of possessing a Demon's Blood is that I'm weak to Holy Magic, it can even cripple me. But I'll be able to get over that weakness with time.

But, according to the Doctors I can't learn healing magic due to my constitution, but in return my offensive spells will be far stronger. It's called 'Heavenly Restriction', you give one thing in exchange for another thing. Most people can use healing magic to a certain extent, but I can't. It'll be rather annoying but I suppose I'll just kill someone before they can hit me. And although I can't learn healing magic I'm sure I can figure a way to work around it.

My Demonic Blood brought about a plethora of benefit, I possessed the potential to become the greatest offensive force within this continent. This world was actually only a continent in shape, but in terms of size it was huge. I didn't know the landmass of earth off by heart but I knew this world's was probably several times larger.

I was likely going to be receiving classes on magecraft, noble shit and other shit.

'How annoying, well I suppose I'll just have to get stronger and stronger.'

- A few Months Later -

Its been around half a year since I've reincarnated, I've gotten a fair bit stronger. I've worked under two instructors, one instructor for fire and lightning and another for Darkness. Of course I do have an academics teacher and an etiquette teacher, but I've made sure to only be average. I've gotten 50% on every single non combat based test, I don't want to get too involved with anything.

I'll make sure to get rid of my combat teachers so that information about me isn't leaked. I really don't want to be the center of attention, especially now that I have a chance to live a more comfortable life. Over the past half a year I've never left the mansion, not because I can't, but because I'm simply not interested in seeing what's beyond these walls.

Walking down the corridor I took a right and headed to the living room. There, Iris and Irene were both relaxing, a chess board had been set up. Me and Irene had a chess match once every second day, I 'lost' most of the time. But Irene occasionally let me win, of course I took those opportunities so I didn't seem like a complete morron.

I sat down on the chair opposite her, she was palying white, judging by how she was smiling she planned on letting me win today.

She moved the pawn infront of her King two squares forward. I moved the pawn infront of my queen forward two squares, she moved the knight on her right hand side behind her pawn...

After a series of turns, I had her in check mate.

She had 'let' me win, but I could've easily bested her if I wasn't trying to hide my capabilities.

"Tsk, you win this time."

She said while pouting, I smiled In absolute 'happiness.' She was probably smiling on the inside, her ability to hide her emotions was impressive considering her age. She truly had potential, she would've been a threat to the original Valier.

But I was not the original, I was better.

When the chess match was over I headed over to the training hall where my Fire and Lightning magic teacher was standing, his name was Trodius Flamesworth or something. I didn't bother remembering his name, he would have to die, sure I wasn't giving it my all. But I didn't want people to know that I could use Derivative Magic.

Derivative Magic is essentially deriving one element from another, lightning from fire. Ice from water etc.

Derivative Magic isn't something everyone has the affinity for. One could have the power to burn through a star but not have an affinity towards lightning magic. And as far as I know, there hasn't been a recorded case of someone being born with their Derivative Magic. Well, aside from me that is.

Trodius looked at me dead in the eye, he then released his killing intent, at the same time he released waves of Mana that nearly made me stumble over and fall. I blinked and then he was there facing me side on, one hand was behind his back and his white coat danced in the air due to the air being distorted.

He jabbed at me, I did my best to dodge but his blow grazed my cheek. I barrel rolled to the side and got up, I enhanced myself with Mana, at the same time I flowed lightning attribute Mana throughout my body. But before I could do that Trodius was infront of me, he had a trail of lightning behind him and a playful smile on his face.

"I was right. You really were pretending."
