35 Chapter 35 - I'm a Fucking Gladiator Now? [3]

As the man dragged his giant body towards me, the ground trembled. I looked around to look for something, anything but it was to no avail. The wall behind me had been shattered.

If I hadn't moved my body slightly to change where his attack landed, I'd probably have been crippled by that attack.

"I really didn't want to resort to this... but if you're gonna push me this far then I really don't have a choice now do I?"

I took a deep breath, for a few seconds I focused on my breathing. I then began to use Demon's Breath. I instantly felt the overwhelming stress it applied on my body. My time limit in this state was probably less than 20 or so seconds.

"But... that's more than enough..."

I stood up, I tensed my muscles, I could hear cracks for in my bones from the amount of power my muscles were producing. My muscles were also starting to shred themselves with the Shards of bone and their own overwhelming ferocity.

But to me, this was nothing. I've gone through worse. Something of this level couldn't get so much as a flinch from me.

I then dashed forward, the man's eyes widened in confusion. I probably dissapeared from his sight with how fast I was going. I didn't waste a single second as I stabbed my Rapier into his Jugular Vein 30 or so times in around 6 seconds. The behemoth finally came to a halt, he then fell to the ground, back first.

My speed wasn't anything compared to the me before I got captured. I had gotten weaker. But that didn't change anything, because no matter what...

"Ordinary people can't beat me, even if I'm in a state as pitiful as this. People like you shouldn't bother trying to fight me. The only thing you'll end up with is death."

I suddenly heard the crowd cheer, as my time limit finally drew closer I could feel myself losing strength. I 'looked' down at the man. He was still alive, I estimated he had around 7 or 8 seconds of life left over.

I placed my foot against his face. And for the first time in my life I basked in the glory of my victory. I 'gazed' at the crowd with a look of pride plastered across my face.

Or that's what should've happened. That's what ordinary people would've felt. But I felt nothing. Even when my life was in the line, even when my body was destroying itself. I felt nothing, I didn't even feel boredom.

As the man's heart bevan beat it's last, a group of what I assumed were healing mages rushed towards us, donned in their white uniforms. I 'looked' at my body, it was in a state of utter shambles. Blood was dribbling out from my mouth, fragments of bone were sticking out of my body. And there were lumps of my shredded muscle beneath my skin.

Suddenly... my mind began to go dark. The last thing I 'saw' was a group of healing mages place me onto a stretcher.

Irene Pendragon POV:

I was currently in a campsite, the war effort had gone on for far longer than anyone could've expected. My mentor, Claire had decided that this war would be an opportunity for me to accrue experience. Today is the first time I've been allowed to take part in a battle. I'm currently on the border between our country, and Britannia. The enemy.

I saw Claire come out of a tent, she had a mug in each hand.

"Irene. I brought us coffee. It's not the kind that you have back at home, but we can't do much about it."

Claire handed me a mug and we walked over to a campfire and sat down nearby it for warmth. Claire's long black hair swayed in the wind, we watched the fire crackle for a little bit before she broke the silence looming over us. She gazed upon the full moon and began to speak.

"Irene. Honestly, you shouldn't be here. You should be far away from a place like this. Ordinarily, someone like you shouldn't be in a battlefield. But, the person you're trying to kill isn't ordinary. To take down someone like him, you'll have to take a step past the line of humanity and venture into the realm of people like them. Of people like me."

I nodded my head, I wanted to kill the man who taken my family away from me. It's been the only thing on my mind for the past 1 and a half years. I've trained my mind and body all for the sake of taking him down. I've become proficient in several forms of sword play, the current me would probably be able to take down the Valier from before in a single attack.

A soldier came running to us and bowed before speaking.

"Lady Sword Saint, and Lady Irene. We are making our move in the next 10 minutes."

Once the 10 minutes passed, Claire commanded our 1000 or so elite troops to prepare themselves. She was going to lead us into battle. We marched into battle wearing some light weight body armour, we all wore black armour so we were better hidden within the darkness of the night. Me and Claire both wielded Katanas, the Katana I was using was a gift from Claire.

I looked behind us and saw our knights, they were all heavily armed. Some used western blades while some bore Eastern swords similar to my own. Some were equipped with things like morning stars, axes and bows. Some wore lighter armour while others wore what could only be described as huge chunks of metal that had been welded together to slightly resemble armour.

We then saw a group of enemy soldiers from Britannia. They were being lead by an old man, he wore silver armour that beautifully reflected the moonlight. Our gazes met, and suddenly my throat tightened, I was struggling to breath under this pressure.

I began to circulate Mana throughout my body, and the effects of his pressure began to alleviate.

"Knights of The Imperial order, do not leave a single one of them alive."

Claire commanded them, she raised her sword above her head and pointed it at the enemy. Our soldiers began to rush at the enemy.

I looked at Claire's sword, this time it had a blade unlike the time before. She told me that when she was told to come help us, she had already been weakened significantly and her sword had broken. And she was also low on Mana which was why she couldn't cast any actual spells.

She apologised, although it didn't make things any better. To make up for her blunder, she became my mentor.

I drew my own Katana, I took a deep breath before I leapt into the air. I formed a spike of ice near my foot, I then kicked it and sent it flying at an enemy soldier who parried it. As I crashed into the ground, I placed my sword back in its sheath and when I was close to the ground, I quickly drew my sword and aimed an attack at his neck.

"You'll be my first kill."
