Chapter 29 - The Sword Saint

Valier POV:

Everything went dark, I couldn't see a thing. My eyes were completely enshrouded in darkness. I fully understood what had happened, I had gone blind. Due to me being blinded by a Cursed Attribute, I likely wouldn't gain my eye sight back anytime soon. I then felt my body drop to the ground, it was then a presence that made even me want to run away.

I couldn't even fully comprehend the sheer power of whatever the fuck had just arrived. I honestly started to consider praying that whatever had just descended would be on our side. But I then remembered that I despised the notion of prayer, allowing yourself to submit to something and begging it so save you wasn't something I'd do any time soon.

"It seems I'm a bit late, and I'm sorry about that. But from this point on, I won't let anyone die."

Irene Pendragon POV:

I tried to move my arms, but I couldn't feel them. There was also a lack of sensation in my legs, It was then that I finally looked at the source of that monstrous pressure that had arrived a moment ago.

I looked in interest at the black haired woman infront of us, she was beautiful, the moonlight served to enhance her already gallant look. She had long black hair and beautiful amethyst coloured eyes. Despite her young appearance, she had a rather feminine body with a rather large chest and butt.

On her hip there was a plain black Katana, she then dissapeared from sight and appeared beside me. She brought a potion to my mouth and helped me drink it. I felt it's effects almost immediately, but I knew that I'd need a powerful healing oriented mage if I ever wanted to walk again.

"The potion will keep you alive, I have a group of healers on the way."

She then turned around and glared, suddenly a truly indomitable intent flowed from out of her body. I could tell she was holding back for my sake but even then, even when her killing intent wasn't directed at me; I couldn't help but tremble in fear. Even the fear I felt when that man shattered my limbs wasn't comparable to this dread.

"Irene Pendragon, I know you must want revenge. Unfortunately you're not strong enough to get it."

The woman then gripped her Katana, and a pressure even more powerful than the last was released. And just like that, the storms that the man created had been dispelled immediately. Only a harsh silence enshrouded the land around me.

The woman then dissapeared from sight and appeared behind the man, she seemed to have noticed Valier's presence. His bones had been reduced to rubble, his muscles had been torn to oblivion, he likely had several cranial fractures and shards of bones were visibly jutting out of his arms, legs and stomach and blood was pouring from his eyes. He wasn't a mage capable of healing magic, so his condition was honestly way worse than mine.

Then I saw that the man was standing a few meters away from them, he clutched his shoulder and a crimson liquid poured out from within it.

Blood.

She had managed to wound the man who Valier couldn't even crease the clothes of. She was strong, probably stronger than the man infront of us. But her appearance told me that to get to us she had fought many opponents, some of them may have been just as strong as the man infront of us. She seemed to somewhat tired. But even then, it was clear that she was hopelessly stronger than the man.

She once again dissapeared from sight and appeared behind the man, this time she placed one of her delicate and slender hands on the back of his head. Then, she lifted him off the ground and slammed his face back down to earth, the ground around us trembled. It was clear that she was holding back quite significantly.

"You disguist me, you're pretty tough, but you're using that strength against mere children? How pitifully pathetic."

Then, I saw her draw and sheathe her sword, instantly one of the man's hands was sliced off.

I looked up and saw the skies had parted, she didn't seem to have used anything beyond physical enhancement. Yet she had split the skies, even when I enhanced my sight, I couldn't see a single cloud. There probably weren't any clouds for any cities nearby.

She then drew her blade and that's when I noticed something... she hadn't used a blade this entire time. She had been swinging a handle this entire time yet she was still able to toy with that man?

The man then stood up and sent a wave of his pale black flames at the woman, she casually dodged it by sidestepping. She then appeared infront of the man and reeled her arm back before slamming her fist into him, he was able block her attack but was still sent flying. A few moments later, he was able to get up.

He looked at her incredulously before blood poured out of his mouth, he clenched his core and glared at her. He coughed vigorously before finally speaking.

"You're the Sword Saint, aren't you? You're one of this Empire's monsters. To think they sent you here, have the imperials finally decided to get serious?"

My eyes widened, she was the Sword Saint. Now everything finally made sense, that overwhelming power truly could only belong to one of our generals. The Sword Saint was a title bestowed upon a woman who went by the name 'Claire Bladeheart.' She was one of the most powerful beings within the Empire.

The man extended his hand out and then a blast of fire so large that it seemed to touch the sky itself shot out of his hand. Claire swung the hilt she was holding onto vertically, and the blast of fire which could have easily annihilated a city dissapeared without a trace.

"What? What kind of monster are you?"

I understood that Claire had not used any form of magic or trickery to do that, she had used pure strength to make the attack dissapear.

"I'll handle your torture later, for now, just go down quietly."

Then she once again dissapeared from sight and appeared behind him.
