11 Chapter 11 - The Princess' Birthday

Valier Pendragon POV:

I headed over to the main hall where the party was being held, I was rather impressed. That child had a bodyguard at the ready, the body guard was just outside of the room, ready to kill me if necessary. I could sense her presence, but they of course didn't know that. As a warrior I will likely surpass them, but I'd probably get destroyed if I fought the body guard in my current state.

'This exchange has made me realise that I need my own group, a group of warriors who can act as my hunting dogs. People who can act my swords and as my shadows. An order of Knights that can act as my black ops squad. A Black Order.'

The rest of the party went by smoothly with nothing else really happening, I wasn't able to get acquainted with any nobles as my standing was that of an illegitimate child. And many assumed that the late Archduke didn't approve of me due to my existence being hidden, so they decided to completel ignore my existence. Which was fine, I don't care if I'm forgotten, I just want to live in peace.

I sat myself down on the far corner of the venue and simply munched on some of the foodstuffs that were on offer.

'I'm going to search that room from before, If there's any more of that drug... then I think I'll use it. This is just a feeling but, if I take a dosage or two more of that drug then I think it'll catalyse the awakening of my two bloodline abilities. This is simply based on my intuition though, but the drug doesn't seem to have any long term side effects considering my current bodily condition.'

As I was eating, a young boy walked over to me. The boy had blonde hair and blue eyes, he looked relatively handsome. He had a nice complexion, and nice clothes.

'He must have grown up with a roof over his head and good food in his stomach. Although me and Valier are different people, we have both experienced life's worst places. I can't remember much of my past life but I do remember the cold, the hungry days, the days where I'd eat rats and insects to get by. Tsk, I wish those memories hadn't been awakened.'

When Angelica brought up the drugs, not only did Valier's memories flow into my mind but some of my own did.

I looked apathetically at the boy, if my guess was right he was going to ask for a fight, you know the usual 'How dare you... infront of this young master from the... family.'

"Do you want something?"

I spat out venomous at the boy, I wasn't interested in talking to someone like him.

"You might be wondering 'Why is this overly good looking gentlenan talking to me?' Well, I've heard some of the nobles talking about you, they're calling you dirty, unwanted and some other mean stuff. But, I didn't want to make any assumptions so I decided that It would be best to talk to you and see what all the fuss is about."

I sighed at the boy.

"Well, Mr 'Good Looking Gentleman' you'll find out that I'm not dirty, perhaps unwanted, but a large amount of the things they're talking about are incorrect. Now, would you mind introducing yourself?"

I ended off with a sharper and slightly harsher tone than what I should've used, but this guy was way too annoying.

"Ah, my bad, my name is Leon Gladius, I'm the heir to the Gladius Duchy. I'm a pretty famous guy so you may have heard of me."

My facial expression didn't change bit I was a bit surprised, Leon Gladius. A side character, he was one of the most talented members in our generation. He was proficient with the Spear, he was the protagonists best friend until he died to me. Or rather, the original Valier.

He died a fair bit into the story, during the final year of the Academy. His death made the protagonist hunt me down for weeks on end. And when Valier initially got away, the protagonist went on a rampage for days on end. According to some other characters, If anyone annoyed him during that period of time they'd have been wiped off the face of this world.

He was very intelligent, he could use Wind Magic, he would use it to enhance his spear throws to their absolute limit. But honestly, if he had learnt a spear art more suited to his body he would have done more than being some long ranged spear man.

"I can tell from looking the Mana leaking out of your body that you're a Mage. This is just a guess from my part, but you're strong aren't you? Stronger than I am at the very least."

When he said that, I unintentionally directed some bloodlust at him but I didn't bother saying anything about it. I looked at him, brads of sweat were rolling down his forehead as I stared at him apathetically When I realised just how scared he was, I thought it'd be best to apologise in case he took it the wrong way, I had no need for more enemies after all.

"My bad, I'm not good at controlling myself."

And with that I started happily sipping on some coffee while waiting for him to leave. Surprisingly enough, he sat beside me and someone brought him some hot chocolate.

"You drink coffee? Ewww, it's so bitter, seriously, are you and adult or something?"

I sipped my coffee a few more times before setting it to the side. Then, I heard around three pairs footsteps, just by the sound of the footsteps I could tell who they were. I looked around and saw my two 'sisters' and Angelica.

The first to speak was Irene, my 'older' 'sister', she seemed rather happy for a reason unbeknownst to me but I didn't particularly care to ask why.

"My word Valier, you've made a friend already? Kinda surprising considering how quiet you usually are at home, but I'm happy that you've got someone to talk to. I'm also bit jealous that you won't talk to me nearly as much as you've talked with hi- Uh I mean, I'm hoping that you make some more new friends even after this."

The other two girls giggled as they seemingky found amusement in Irene's oh so bitter torment. The next speak was Iris.

"Well, big brother, although I've not talked to you as much as anyone else here. I do hope we get along, I hope we can get closer at some point but that can wait."

Then, Angelica looked at me and smiled, I almost vomited in absolute horror. But I didn't do it, as I didn't want to risk offending her. She was one of the more notable threats. She possessed Light Magic and Holy Magic, Holy Magic is something only some people can actually use. It purifies all, annihilating all that is unholy.

As of now, my Demonic Bloodline hasn't fully awakened so I won't take too much damage from it, but when it fully awakens I'm going to be in a hell of a lot of pain if I get by it. Holy Magic can also heal.

Every Mage, aside from myself, can heal themselves. They do this by using Healing Magic, simple enough right? Bearers of the Holy Attribute can do the same but they do it with the Holy Attribute. They can simply heal at a far faster rate, out of the protagonist's harem she was the one who awakened it the earliest and was one of the most proficient with it. Unfortunately for me, every single girl in the harem awakened it at some point.

Meaning that if I don't become a strong enough Demon Blood, I'd die to them in a few shots.

If I didn't have my 'Heavenly Restriction' I'd probably be able to heal myself to an extent from Holy Magic attacks. But like I've said before, If I become a strong enough Demon Blood I'll get rid of that weakness. Of course I'll still be able to get killed, it's just that I won't get one shot by Holy Magic based attacks.

Angelica spoke in a fairly relaxed tone.

"Valier, you're a very interesting man you know? I hope we can get along both now and when we arrive at Babbylon Academy."

I simply smiled and nodded at her words.
