1 Reincarnation

"It was a good match, Mr. Gregovich" a 16-year-old teen shook the hand of the 3rd ranked chess player in the world. The teen had jet black hair, and dark blue eyes. That teen was Jason Harris. Jason was a chess prodigy. By the age of 8, he already defeated professional chess players, and by the age of 12, he defeated the world champion, Ivan Pavlov. Aside from being a chess prodigy, Jason also received a score of 217 in an IQ test, making him a global genius. He won countless chess competitions and used the money to travel around the world, to find someone who can give him the thrill of an actual challenge.

"You say that, but it only took you 20 minutes to beat me. The teens of today are truly amazing..." the Russian man said with a small sad smile

"Don't feel bad. Only Pavlov had a longer game with me. As someone who played against both of them, I believe that you have a chance in defeating Thompson, and maybe even Pavlov. I'll look forward to our next match"

"So do I. You have a great talent, kid. Since you defeated me, I expect you to make your mark in the history of chess, though, you probably already did"

"Until the next time, Mr. Gregovich" said the teen, and walked out of the room. When he went out of the building, accompanied by security guards, he was swarmed by reporters.

"How was the match against Vladimir Gregovich???" asked one reporter

"Are you going to participate in the upcoming youth world chess championship???" asked a second reporter

"Where will you go next???" asked another one

"Everyone, back down!!! Mr. Harris needs to get to his flight, and doesn't have time for questions!!!" his agent, Mark Hill, shouted. Jason met Mark when he was 8 years old after he won his first game against a professional chess player. Since then, Mark worked diligently, to help Jason set up matches against professional chess players, and to participate in countless chess competitions.

"It's okay, Mark. I'll answer these three reporters and we'll go" Jason said and turned to the first reporter

"First of all, the match was quite splendid. It took me 20 minutes to win, which makes it the second-longest match I had in my life. As expected from the 3rd ranked chess player in the world, Mr. Gregovich is very talented" Jason said, and then turned to the second reporter

"Secondly, I will participate in the upcoming youth world chess championship that will occur in July. I look forward to facing against chess players of my age" He said, and finally turned to the last reporter

"And lastly, I'll be going to Japan next, to face the 6th ranked chess player, Yuu Hiroshima. Only after my trip to Japan, I'll return home, to prepare for the upcoming youth world chess championship"

After he answered the three reporters, the security guards started to make the reporters back down, so Jason could reach the car that is waiting to drive him to the airport. After two hours, Jason was finally in the air, flying to his next destination, Japan.

After half an hour, the plane's engine suddenly shut down, and the plane crashed to the sea and exploded, leaving no survivors.

The next time Jason opened his eyes, he was sitting in a lounge chair and saw in front of him a coffee table, which had a chessboard on it, and another lounge chair. Then, a blinding light lit up at the direction of the lounge chair, and when it faded, a man was sitting on the chair across him. Jason didn't have to be a genius, to realize the man's identity, even if he was an atheist.

"You're God, aren't you?" asked Jason

"As expected from a global genius, it didn't take a long time for you to figure who I am, and you also seem calm about it"

"There's no reason to be surprised. I knew that I'm going to die, judging by the speed which the plane crashed down. Is this the part where you decide whether I go to heaven or hell?"

"For most people it is, but you're a special case. You see, for people who I deem as worthy, and were very talented in their life, I give another option. The option to reincarnate in another world of their choosing"

"So you want me to choose a world to reincarnate into?"

"Exactly! You can choose any fictional world you know!"

"If that is the case, I would like you to choose a suitable world for me, where I'll find people as talented as me, who'll be able to give me thrill of challenge"

"Well, I know a world where there is a school for people like you. For teens who are prodigies in their field. However, there is a catch. In that world, the school will face a life or death situation, which the students will have to solve on their own. Are you willing to risk your new life, to find the thrill of a real challenge?"

"Well, as long as it's not a promised death, it's even more thrilling..."

"Well, then I guess we found the world which you want to reincarnate to! I wish you luck in your new world!"

~~~ Time Skip ~~~
Jason stood in front of a big building. He was already 16 years old and looked the same as he looked in his past life. His life until now was basically the same life he had in his former life until he finally received an invitation to Hope's Peak Academy.
Hope's Peak Academy was a government-sanctioned co-ed private high school with boarding facilities. Unlike a typical high school, the students did not have to participate in entrance exams but instead were scouted by the school itself as Ultimate experts in their field. The school was famous for nurturing the Ultimates' talents to its full potential, making it one of the famous schools not only in Japan but throughout the whole world. He was invited to this school as the Ultimate Chess Player, and today was finally his first day.
'I've waited 16 years for this day. The day which I'll meet my equals, and finally face the thrill of a real challenge. I'm also curious about that life or death situation God told me about. I read on the internet, but there was nothing that implied about something wrong with the academy. Well, let's meet the rest of these "Ultimates"...' Jason thought and took his first step into the school.
However, when he did that, his vision suddenly became warped, and before he managed to understand what's going on, he passed out
