14 Diary 14: The Explorer Guild

"I am very thankful for your help great warriors!" Luna beams at the two gentlemen. "Now if you excuse me, I will have to fix the measurements for the clothes".

Sarah also bids her farewell, bowing her head politely as she made her exits. She tells the two men that their fees are already deposited to the union.

Min Soo's eyes brightened, sensing the enthusiasm in Min Soo's reaction the blonde-haired man tells the man to hurry home. Min Soo and David heads home with the horses they borrowed from the Union facilities.

After they arrive at the Union, the administrator in charge of the fee admission gave their share. The fee is quite small, but the sense of accomplishment the Idol feels is tremendous. The fees are not much, it's only two hundred sheels. Sheel is Sanctus Luminera's money currency, the fee is enough for the Idol to get some food.

After getting the fees, they moved to the guild commission next. Hansel is ready at the counter, David tells Hansel to choose the easiest quest for Min Soo to starts. The administrator walks the two of them to the quest board. Hansel chose the low-ranked quest, the same as before which is the D-ranked quest.

Their job is far from done, Min Soo had to choose between the guild and Union. David tells him that the Union or Guild might be able to help Min Soo to return to his home.

Not to mention, Min Soo is homeless without the help of David King. Min Soo had to repay David's kindness for him, the man already offers him a nice place to stay for free after all.

Even though David insists that Min Soo can stay there permanently, the Idol doesn't want to owe anything to the man. He remembers the time where his parents always ask him to return what he owed, it is his traumatic experience for trusting the wrong people in his life. Min Soo remembers how much people are hypocrites.

Surely, this includes David who asks him to stay in his mansion. Min Soo still can't read David's intention, and the fact that he spiked his drink scares him. It would be best for Min Soo to find his place for a while and settle for a bit until he can find a way to return to Seoul his home.

"Don't doze off" Hansel realizes that Min Soo has been dozing off. "You're dozing off while I try to explain how the guild works".

"Right, sorry" Min Soo apologizes apologetically.

Hansel starts over from the beginning, it is more or less has the same system as Union except for some things. The guild does not provide lots of backups for facilities to the explorers, as Min Soo expected; the guild is less uptight than the Nightsbane Union.

The Explorer Guild like its name has a sole purpose to find the unknown and help others in need.

This makes the Idol thinks of how the Guild works freer than the Union, wages are more or less random depends on the difficulty of the quest. However, Union has more stable wages while the Guild wages can be unstable. You may get more wages from the guild but at the same time, you may get lower wages from the Union.

There's a members ranking system in the guild, but low-ranked explorers can apply for the high-tier quest as well. However, the guild won't take any responsibility for any property loss or damage by the explorers. The explorers will be the sole party who will be held accountable for the damages they caused.

While the Union takes a more strict approach than the guild. Property loss will be held accountable by the institution, but the bodyguard won't receive his wages for a week for the exchange of the damage he caused. Min Soo thinks about it for a while, while he processes the information Hansel explains.

"Do you understand Mr. Min Soo?" Hansel asks the pink-haired man before him. "Before I forget, the guild will take thirty percent of your wages for the guild administration and facilities".

Another difference Min Soo spot from the Union, the Union takes more taxes which is around forty-five percent. Not to mention, the Nightsbane Union interior is more flashy and luxurious than the guild, perhaps the tax differences are the reason why the Union looked more elite.

The guild gives off the 'freelancer' job type, as in the explorer have the freedom to choose his path. Judging by the quests that are posted on the commission board, most of them are easier to handle than the Union job. The quest administration is not as uptight as the Union one, but the job variants itself classified to ordinary citizens.

Even if there are nobles who posted their quest on the board, it's a rare sight for the explorers. If one of the nobles posted on the board, the explorers would usually fight the others to the point of breakdown. They want high-paying jobs from the nobles since it's a rare sight to see in the Explorer Guild.

"Well, let's see here" Hansel scans the commission board for the quest. "Well, this one looks good".

Hansel pointed toward the brown-ish piece of paper on the board, judging from the dirt on the paper it's already quite old. No one seems to take interest in the commission, hence Hansel gives the job to Min Soo and David.

"David is an S-rank explorer, he knows what he's doing so you can count on him" Hansel winks at Min Soo.

"He's a what?" Min Soo gaped his mouth open.

David sighs as he glares at Hansel who seems to spill his secrets out of the blue, not wanting to create more confusion; David explains his situation to Min Soo.

"I am the owner of the Union but also an Explorer you see" David explains. "I took two jobs for my living expenses, I hope it doesn't surprise you".

Min Soo is more infatuated now that he knows David is a serious man who works toward his ambition, he grows some respect toward him; still not forgetting the incident where he spiked his drinks though.

"Alright, enough about me" David coughs awkwardly. "What's our next job?".

It seems that the next job is to find a lost old relics, the requester is a client with the name Joey.

"Are you accepting my quest for real?" a sound of a boy surprised the gentlemen. Min Soo turns around only to see a boy wearing a hat and a brown cloak. Joey seems to be in a good mood after he sees the piece of paper in Hansel's hand.

"I know that my fee is not that much, but I seriously need to find that lost relic! It's my grandfather keepsake!".

Seeing how the young boy is in turmoil waiting for someone to accept his quest, Min Soo decides to harden his will to help the boy no matter what.
