The Change of the World! I acquired an S - Tier Talent!

"Wake up!" Yells Grayson, Jays friend. Grayson has been the only person the Jay has actually liked talking to since the death of his parents. "Today is the awakening ceremony!" The awakening ceremony is a yearly event held at every highschool for seniors to determine their awakening rank. "I know!" Groans Jay as he slowly rises from his bed. "I'm hoping for at least D - Tier, if I don't get better than that my parents will kill me!"

Humans can awaken tiers ranging from E to S tier with each tier being a lot stronger than the last. The world changed a lot when the first monsters invaded, blue , mysterious portals opened up in the sky and poured out monsters endlessly. It was when 5 cities already fell when humanity started to gain awakeners, only people over the age of 17 could awaken and they could not know when they would awaken.

"I just dont want to get E - Tier" Jay thought to himself while preparing breakfast. After pushing back the monsters did humanity discover that they could venture in to the portals that didnt close and kill the monsters before they made it to earth, the era of awakeners began, with billions of people awakening their powers and fighting off the monsters, most people were unlucky and awakened E - Tier talents which meant that they were fodder in the face of most monsters while the lucky few unlocked C - Tier and higher and could acquire great fortune hunting the monsters

Soon Jay and Grayson left for school to begin the ceremony. "I can't wait to find out my rank! I want to go to the chaos world and fight the real monsters!" Jay only looked solemnly ahead thinking about his parents, "would they ever be proud of me?" he wondered while heading to his class.

Most students ignored Jay as he always held his head low and always stayed quiet but there was 1 group of boys that always had it in for him, "Look, it's the loser Jay!" a voice crowed from down the hallways. It was Damon, the only son of the governor. He has always been bullying Jay for having no parents and being weak but he stood away from Grayson as he was also the son of a reputable family and was rich.

"Shut it Damon" Grayson called back, Jay didnt even know why Grayson was even his friend, Grayson was very popular and nice to everyone while Jay always tried to stay in the background. Soon the duo arrived at the class and took their seats, the teacher soon greeted them with a cheerful "Hello class! I'm guessing we all know what's going to happen today!" Today was the day that all the students got to assess their ranks from Tiers E to S. "Now that everyone is here we can finally begin the ceremony, it is very simple, you have to place your hand on the awakening crystal and the color it glows determines your rank.

"I will go first," Jay said, wanting to get things over with. He slowly walked over and carefully placed his hand on the crystal. Sensing his hand, the crystal began to glow a gray color and slowly fade. "Ha! Jay can't even awaken an ability!" Damon laughed. Grayson looked over at Jay solemn eyes and tried to give him an assuring smile. "Well that's unfortunate that you didnt awaken a talent" His teacher smiled at him, "I'm sure you will find a way to be a good member of society" and with that she ushered Jay to his seat.
