1 The Ceremony - Chapter 1

In the world of Itteghar I was born. I had everything I could've ask for, a loving family, a warm home, plenty of space to run and play, and finally, a responsibility to my father to protect my mother while he was gone.

My father was gone a lot but I didn't mind for I had my little brother, Darwin, and my new baby sister, Alia, I was the oldest out of us three. While my dad was gone doing work in the capital, Venia City, us three and my mom would take care of the house and the shop. While walking the streets of Kucan, my home town, I'd love to see the magic people were able to use and hoped one day I would be able to manifest such an awesome power. I would always ask my mom, "When would I be able to use magic?!"

Which she would respond with, "In due time. You need to wait a while longer before you have the dream."

The dream according to my mom was, "The moment you knew you can wield magic," and "When you get to travel to Venia City with your father and take the ceremony."

She told me the ceremony was when you figure out which affinity you have. I always wanted earth but there is also fire, water, wind, light, and dark. I heard from people passing by the shop that dark magic was not only the strongest but the rarest with there only being three people in the Sopan Kingdom that had the affinity and only eight people in the world had the affinity of the dark magic.

...

Four years have past and I'm now 14 and have trained my body to not only fight hand-to-hand but with swords and archery but to wield magic. To wield magic I needed to be physically strong and mentally. Going out with my father to hunt gave me a lot of useful tips. I learned to shoot an arrow, track prey, mask my presents from unsuspecting prey or predators, and to survive in the wilderness. My father was very proud of me because at the age of 12 I killed my first wolf, at 13 I killed my first demonetized deer which was said to be as strong as a pack of wolves, and recently I killed my first goblin, but with my fathers help. I would study with my mom after dinner to gain more knowledge that she deemed useful or things I just wanted to know.

This went on for several months without fail. One night my mother sent me bed earlier than normal and as I fell into a deep sleep I was suddenly walking. I knew I was dreaming but I had no control and I just walked. It felt like an eternity walking a black void of nothingness until I saw a small light. As I continued walking towards the strange light it back expanding, growing larger, and got brighter than the sun as i shielded my face from its rays of light, it consumed me. The light had a strange sense of warmth and security to it. I slowly dropped my hands from my face reviling a large room. A room I've never seen before, the room was largest room I've ever seen. With a massive fountain in the middle of the room with a singular crystal orb floating above a pedestal. I looked around cautiously before approaching the mysterious, flouting orb. Something in me told me to touch the orb and when I did I felt a wave of mystery, chaos, anger, and pride come over me, yet the orb didn't change. I was confused pulling my hand away and turned to run as fast as possible in the opposite direction of that feeling and orb. I ran becoming enveloped in darkness still feeling that feeling and was met by a shadow, rather a pair of glowing eyes that looked straight to my soul and mind. We sat staring at each other for a moment until I broke free of its gazing eyes. I continued to run until I jumped awake and with sweat streaming down my face I looked around seeing the room I've always woke up to, gave me a sense of comfort and put my mind at ease. I heard what sounded like a wooden door opening and closing and I rushed to investigate. Turning the corner I saw my mother making breakfast with the same smile that she always wears. She turned saying, "Good morning, alien."

As she saw my flustered face and my sweating body she asked if I was alright and I started to feel my lip quiver and the tears rolled down my face like an endless waterfall. I bailing running towards her and hugging her I cried, "I never want to go back to that place!" Confused she asked where as my father came in. I explained everything to them my mother said it was a bad dream while my father said that I just had the "dream". I looked at him in disbelief, my mother not being able to use magic was shocked that the "dream" could be so bad and asked, "So what does that mean?"

My father responding with, "I'm unsure. For me the orb glowed a faint red and got a hotter the longer I touched it implying I had the affinity for fire but I've never heard of something like this before."

With concern in her eyes, "Would you be able to go to the capital and find out the answer to why his was so horrible?"

"I do believe I can" he responded comforting us both with a hug and kiss on the forehead.

He left right have breakfast and told us he'd be back in three days and with the answer to the dream. I did everything I could to get over it but it felt like it was burned into my mind. Four days passed and we all started to worry. After dinner there came a loud knocking who I answered and to my surprise was my father and he looked just as excited to see us as we were to see him. My mother sent the two younger ones to bed while I watched my father eat with great intent, once my mother came back down he stood and proclaimed that, "Alien would have to come to the capital with me to get a better understanding on the dream and to get his affinity checked at the ceremony for he had the 'dream' and was now obligating to do so." I agreed and in 2 months I would go and get the ceremony done with.

I trained harder than ever before and making the workouts extremely difficult, I often fell asleep listening to my mother talk. The two months had passed and I was to excited and nervous to begin my start to the capital to finally get magic.

"Are you ready?" asked my father while I was looking out the front door.

"More than ever before!" In which I responded before taking a step the door but this wasn't any type of step. I would come back a mage.
