9 You’re The Girlfriend

"Why are you so worried about being noticed with me?" Ryu asked with an irritated tone as soon as Arya entered his car.

He received a message from Arya, instructing him to wait inside the car and that she would just follow him there soon, otherwise, she would not go with him.

It didn't bother him at all if he was seen with her by other people. He didn't care and yet she was the one bothered by it.

It was the first time that he felt rejected and he couldn't help but feel annoyed. She was the first woman ever, who had the nerve to threaten him.

He was Ryu Ken, almost all the girls were trying hard just to be close to him.

'How come she is an exception?' He thought inwardly and still felt dejected.

"Aren't you afraid of being involved in a scandal with me? Most of the models there instantly recognized you. You know how fast gossips spread out and most of the time it's not even the real thing. I'm just worried about your reputation." explained Arya.

Ryu sighed. They were alone, inside his car. This time he wanted to pick-up Arya on his own, so he dismissed his driver.

He turned around and leaned forward to Arya. They were so close that he could almost kiss her.

"What are you doing?" Arya asked, with her eyes wide opened.

"Are you married?" He asked, looking straight into her eyes as he pulled the seatbelt for Arya.

She just shook her head as an answer. Arya's heartbeat almost stopped at that closeness. She could only smell his masculine scent and wasn't able to talk.

"So, what kind of scandal are you referring to? You are single and so am I." She heard him add.

She didn't know what was going on with her. Just a while ago her heartbeat stopped, then suddenly accelerated.

"Why are you so close? I can't breathe," That were the only words Arya could whisper, as their eyes locked.

She saw his lips curve into a wicked smile, as he answered, "I am fastening your seatbelt for safe driving."

Then, she heard a click, as the seatbelt was locked. Arya blew some air on her forehead as soon as Ryu went back to his position to drive.

'That was close.' She thought inwardly.

"Where are we going?" She asked to break the silence inside the car.

"Lunch," he answered simply.

Arya creased her forehead. She looked at her phone, to check his schedule for that day.

"I thought you had a lunch meeting? Was it canceled?" She asked.

"Nope, I just want you to accompany me," Ryu answered, smiling.

"What? Am I your assistant or your secretary now?" She hissed.

"Nope, you're the girlfriend." Ryu was grinning as he said that words.

Arya narrowed her eyes as she stared at him. 'Wait, is he serious?' She asked inwardly while she waited for him to explain further, with her questioning gaze on him.

Ryu chuckled and said, "Relax. I'm not finished with my words yet. I need a girlfriend to accompany me, so Mr. Yamato won't pester me to date his daughter. He's been trying to hook me up with his only daughter for some time now, and it's already getting bothersome."

"Just be my girlfriend for a day, okay?" Ryu continued.

Arya just sighed deeply in response. She should have been feeling happy because she was not exerting any hard efforts at all to get his trust and make him fall in love with her, but it was more the other way around. He was the one, who seemed to be exerting efforts to be closer to her.

With the current progress of the situation, Arya didn't feel even a slight of happiness as she was moving forward on her mission. 'Should I warn him to be cautious little by little?' She thought to herself.

'Don't forget that you signed a contract with Rita, Arya,' she scolded herself.

Ryu waved his hand in front of her eyes. "Why are you in deep thoughts? Is it that hard to be my girlfriend for a while?" he asked in a sulky tone.

Arya quickly answered, "Alright, we will just pretend for today." Then, she winked at him to lift his mood back. She leaned on her sit and looked outside through the car window.

"If I were you, I wouldn't even waste time to like someone like me.", Ryu heard her suddenly spoke.

He laughed and asked. "Why not?"

"Just don't like or fall for me, okay? I am a bad person. Anyway, who would even fall for someone at such an early stage? Just an idiot will do." She murmured, as her lips twitched.

Ryu creased his forehead and did not bother to give an answer to her words. He just assumed that Arya was quite bitter at that moment, regarding relationships, because of the asshole that had been bothering her on the phone before.

He suddenly got curious and said, "Not all guys are assholes like your unknown caller. Oh, right I answered his call when you were sleeping in my room. I hope, he's not bothering you anymore?"

Arya just shook her head as an answer. She was also shocked that Jim was no longer pestering her. She did not bother to ask Ryu what he had told Jim, what mattered was that Jim no longer troubled her.

She was peeking at Ryu, who was now focused on the road as he drove.

'Can you at least act bad or don't act nice to me at all?' How she wanted to voice out loud that inner thought of hers.
