31 Aloof Heart

"Sir, the security team you have requested is already briefed. About Arya's family; we are moving according to the plan and so far I think that the third party is not aware of anything yet." Chen reported.

Then, his assistant scratched his head, as if he was hesitant to report something.

"What is it?" He asked with a creased forehead.

"Sir, there's a problem. We are actually having a hard time searching for a lead. Everything was executed anonymously and every trace was cleaned up professionally. We can clearly assume that it was well planned. I just can't understand why someone will do something like this."

Ryu's face darkened. There's just one suspect-the Go Family, which he turned down for an arranged marriage. They keep blaming him in their daughter-Laila's several suicide attempts.

"Sir, the Go family is quiet, but we will continue monitoring them discreetly. So far it seems that they have nothing to do with this incident." Chen commented.

He was working with the CEO for a long time already, and with a simple expression of his, Chen could easily determine what was his Boss thinking.

Laila was a childhood friend for his CEO, while the latter grew up, thinking she was destined to be his wife. She was very obsessed with their CEO. If he was the one to assess their situation, his Boss definitely treated her just like a little sister from the start.

His thought was interrupted by the CEO's voice. "Make sure that no one from Arya's family will get hurt. Stay concealed as much as possible."

Chen nodded and sighed as he looked at his Boss, who walked back inside his private room. Something was bugging Chen, he had a hunch, but he couldn't voice it out yet, as he had no evidence whatsoever.

Besides, his Boss probably would just laugh at him if he shared his theory with his Boss. He decided to keep his assumptions to himself until he got solid evidence. But of course, he hoped that he was wrong. If he was right, then it would be a very tragic situation to his Boss to bear.

Ryu stared at Arya, who had fallen asleep during the travel. They used his private plane and the flight would take them, at least, an hour to reach their destination.

He had bought an island last year and had built a mansion there. It was supposed to be a hidden house for him if he wanted some seclusion. It must have been the place where he could be alone and no one to disturb him, including his family.

He saw Arya wrinkle her forehead during her sleep. He put his index finger between her brows and said, "Are you having a bad dream? Don't worry, I will take care of everything."

Then, his face became serious as he remembered every word he had heard from Arya, who was talking on the phone last night in her room.

He was awakened because of the urge to pee. Arya was not by his side. He was looking for her when he suddenly heard her voice coming from her room. The door to her room was slightly open, so he could hear her talking on the phone. He didn't plan on eavesdropping at all, but he heard how her voice was shaking when she started with the words: "I am scared. I don't know what to do."

Then, he listened intently to every word, without missing anything at all.

When he heard enough, he quickly walked back to the sofa but bumped into something because of the dim light.

At first, he couldn't believe that meeting her was planned from the beginning. So, as soon as Arya was fast asleep, he left and asked his assistant to get her profile and investigate every tiny detail about her and her family.

At that morning, everything was confirmed. There's no way Arya and her family could survive their unfortunate situation unless there's a big help from someone. And it was confirmed that the help they had got was not from any relative or family friend.

Right now, he had mixed emotions. He was mad at the person, who was trying to mess with him by using a woman. But at the same time, he was thankful to that person. If it was not for this incident he would have not met this incredible woman: the only woman who was able to capture his aloof heart.
