Jake dumbfoundedly stared at Violet, his hand trembling slightly.

"Vee, how did you get the contact of the private investigator I hired on Daniel's behalf?" 

When Daniel was in a state of deep paranoia regarding his suspicion that Emma might have had a hand in the one-night stand and the strange financial losses his company had incurred immediately after, he suggested that Daniel hire a private investigator who could not only thoroughly investigate Emma's past but also monitor her activities to gather more information.

Jake himself had taken the initiative to find a suitable investigator on the internet before passing on the details to Daniel. However, when he saw the same investigator conversing with his sister, with whom he had not even discussed the matter with, it stirred up a complex mix of emotions within him.
