11 When The Devil Plays Fair

“Let’s go, Chloe!” Evan said coldly, grabbing her hand.

“Are you defending her? How long have you been together?” Jill was incredulous.

“It’s not your business!” he said and walked away, leaving an angry Jill behind.

He was so pissed at that moment. Who Jill thought she was to try to slap Chloe?

And there was Victor, that sarcastic idiot. Evan would take him down on business once and for all.

When they reached the parking lot, Evan realized he was still pulling Chloe’s hand.

“Are you ok?” he asked cautiously.

Chloe nodded in affirmation while she was trying to hold the laughter, what made him confused.

“What’s the matter?”

“Nothing… You look sexy when you’re angry.” She said shameless.

Evan narrowed his eyes and murmured:

“You’re drunk. I should have known it.” After a pause, he completed: “Let’s go! I’ll take you home.”

“No, I can’t leave Brianna here!” she complained.

“Yes, you can and you will. I’ll call Tyler and he’ll take care of her. No more excuses, Chloe. Get in the car.” He opened the door for her.

“Bossy!” she said low. He gave a little smile and turned around the car.

On their way to her apartment, Chloe realized she didn’t give her address to him.

“How come you know my address?”

“HR. Your employee record.” He simply said.

“Do you know the address of all your employees?” she asked sarcastically.

“No. Only those I want to marry.” he took his eyes off the track and winked at her quickly.

Chloe felt embarrassment so she decided to stay quiet during all the way. Her mind was a mess once more since Mr. Bailey was acting nice with her. She could never expected he choose her over Jill. Chloe didn’t know if it was the alcohol in her system or her tired mind, but she was about to sleep when he parked the car and said:

“We arrived.”

He glanced at her. She looked forward because she didn’t want to leave him, so it became one of those awkward moments.

“Chloe… Look at me.” Evan asked softly.

She slowly turned her head to find his blue eyes.

“Thank you. For, you know, helping me.”

Her eyes widened. He said “thank you” to her for the first time! Was she dreaming? It couldn’t be real. That cold and heartless CEO was thanking her because she played his girlfriend. Just because of it.

Chloe shook her head to ward off those thoughts and it was not a good idea, once she was drunk.

“You should take a rest. Do you need help to get into the apartment?”

“No, it’s fine.” She said dryly.

That moment was about to end and suddenly Chloe found herself irritated. She unlocked the seat belt slowly and took a quick glance at Evan. He was staring at her with those blue eyes. Chloe bit her lower lip because she felt excitement through his eyes.

Evan, in turn, grabbed her neck quickly and glued their lips together. His tongue invaded her mouth shameless, while his other hand was strolling over her back and waist.

Chloe responded the kiss with the same urge. She wanted that kiss since she saw Mr. Bailey in the VIP room.

Her hands were on his neck and shoulders, squeezing with intensity. When they were breathless, Evan went down to her neck and gave little bites on it. Chloe gasped while she gripped his head with her fingertips.

“I can’t stay away from you.” He confessed faintly.

“So don’t.” she murmured. “I accept.”

Evan stopped suddenly and looked at her.

“What did you just say?” his excitement turned into confusion.

“I accept the deal.” She repeated staring at him with her eyes on fire.

“Chloe, you’re drunk. We should stop now.” Evan gently removed her arms from his neck.

“Why? Is not what you wanted?” Chloe was confused and disappointed.

“Not this way. We can talk about it when you’re sober.” He was back at his initial position. “Have a good night, Chloe.” He didn’t look at her.

“Evan, I want it!” she affirmed nervously. “Are you having second thoughts?”

That question made Chloe tremble. Was he thinking about Jill?

“I just play fair.” He said coldly “We can meet tomorrow to discuss the deal if you want.”

“It’s fine by me. Pick me up at 8pm.” She left the car right away, angrily.

Evan sighed heavily. What the hell was going on with him? That question could not get out of his head during all the way home. Why that girl was messing with him so much? She awakened senses that Evan had never experienced and he couldn’t control it.

He could not get involved with her. If she accepted that agreement it would be proof that Chloe is only with him for money, which didn’t make her any different from Jill.

After that night, could he really compare Chloe to Jill?
