“Evan?” Ryan was clearly confused. “What are you doing here?”

“You didn’t answer my question.” Evan replied to Ryan but his eyes were staring at Chloe, who was petrified.

She would not dare to glance at Mr. Bailey. Chloe was sure that anger was directed at her.

“Who do you think you are to disrupt my date like this, Evan?” Ryan got up angrily.

“Date?” Evan could not believe that. He looked at Ryan then at Chloe. “Are you on a date?” he pronounced the last word faintly.

“Do you also take care of your PA’s private life? It crosses the line!” Ryan stated sarcastically.

Evan turned his glance at Ryan while clenching his fists. He was clearly trying to control himself.

“Do you want to know who else is crossing the line here? You! Having a date with my fiancée!” Evan said dryly.

That statement shocked both Ryan and Chloe. She quickly looked at Evan, with her mouth half-open.

Ryan was staring from one to another, trying to figure that out. “Is that true, Chloe?”

Both men looked at her and she swallowed hard.

“Yes” Chloe simply said, feeling her heart tight. She lowered her head out of shame.

“This joke ends here.” Evan said while he grabbed Chloe’s arm. “You come with me. And you” he pointed to Ryan “I want to see you in my office right away. Let’s have a conversation.”

Evan left the restaurant pushing Chloe by her arm. When they reached the parking lot, she complained:

“Let me go, Evan! You’re hurting me!” he released her instantly.

“Get in the car now.” Evan said coldly.

She just did what he ordered. Chloe didn’t want to make a scene there.

“What were you thinking, Chloe? What the hell were you doing there?” he squeezed the steering wheel so hard that his knuckles were white.

“I thought I didn’t owe you any explanations.” She dared to say.

Evan glanced at her in discredit. “Yes, you do owe me explanations.”

“No, I don’t.” she gave a sarcastic smile. “We didn’t sign the contract yet.”

He sighed heavily and started the car. They made the way back to Bailey’s Industries quietly.

When they reached the elevator, it was empty which made Evan smile inside. Chloe became nervous and her hands started to sweat. When the doors closed, he waited a few seconds then grabbed her neck and attacked her lips quickly, in a very intense and angry kiss.

Evan pressed her to the metal wall as his hands roamed her body, squeezing her with urge. He went down the kiss to her neck, sucking and taking small bites.

“Just to remind you what it feels like.” he whispered in her ear and suddenly turned away from her.

The doors of the elevator opened and Evan left as that untouchable CEO while Chloe was still trying to compose herself from the kiss.

Chloe wondered how insane that situation was, but at the same time, it was exciting. She made her way to her office and thanked God Brianna was not around. She needed to come to herself before she was able to discuss those irrational feelings.

Evan was about to sign the first contract of the day when Ryan came in like a storm on summer days.

“What kind of game are you playing with her, Evan?” Ryan asked with anger.

The cold CEO lifted his eyes from the papers and looked at his cousin.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“If you think you’re gonna play with Chloe the same way you did with those gold diggers, you’re totally wrong! She doesn’t deserve it!” Ryan said nonstop.

“You better not threaten me, Ryan.” Evan stated while he was getting on his feet. “What do you know about Chloe?”

“Everything! We've been friends since high school and I know all the hell she went through to be where she is today!” Ryan said loud but he lowered his voice to complete: “She’s the most decent woman I’ve ever met.”

“Sounds like you have feelings for her.” Evan pointed, uncomfortable.

“I always admired her.” Ryan sat on the sofa and glanced at Evan. “She was my first love.”

Evan felt a heat coming through his body, the adrenaline burning his veins. What kind of feeling was that after all?

When Evan was about to reply, Ryan said quickly:

“If you have a heart, let her go. I can make Chloe happy, as she deserve. You don’t love her like I do.”

“She’s mine.” Mr. Bailey answered without thinking twice. “This conversation is over now.”

“I won’t give up on her!” Ryan spoke louder than necessary. “I will find out what is behind this marriage!”

“Get out of my office!” the untouchable CEO was losing his patience.

Ryan made his way towards the exit, but before he left, his cousin added:

“Ryan, for your safety, never touch her again.”
