27 The new secretary

It was late at night. Uncle Jack, aunt Ning and Smith continued with their conversation as they sat at the dining table, having some snacks.

Smith hesitated a little, before he spoke out again. "Aunt Ning, I get your point. You plan to introduce a new girl in Wang's life. But, the question is - haven't you been trying this already from long now?" asked Smith, as he gave a pause to make sure that he didn't sound too impatient. "You've been setting up dates for Wang, which he has been very cleverly avoiding or spoiling," continued Smith.

Ning explained. "Smith, I appreciate your curiosity. I know that I've been trying a lot of girls till date. But, the new girl is different. She's is not going to be treated.. in the same manner.. that others were treated by Wang. Because, this time.. girl is of Wang's liking!" rejoiced Ning.

"What? A girl of Wang's liking? Must be belonging to a very rare species!" laughed Smith.

"Yes. This girl is of Wang's liking. All we need to do is to get the girl close to Wang. I'm sure Wang will fall in love with her," reassured Ning.

Smith listened with attention and was still not convinced. "Okay! So, what you are saying is.. We're going to get the girl of Wang's liking, and then put her in front of him.. and then Wang will fall in love with her.. and the marriage will happen," repeated Smith as he moved his head from side to side. "I'm sorry, but I'm not convinced." Smith smiled at the couple again. His eyes clearly expressed that this plan was going to fail, just like all other dates that they had set up for Wang.

"Oh my sweet innocent Smith!" giggled Ning as she stood up from her seat, walked near to Smith, and took a seat near him. "Wait! Let me convince you. I'm pretty sure that the girl is of Wang's liking. All we have to do is to get her in his vision.. for a long time," continued Ning.

Jack, who had been listening to the entire conversation with patience, decided to add his words of wisdom. "Smith! You know that Wang is a very reserved guy. He's a workaholic. He's the undisputed king of loneliness. Have you ever seen him focusing on his social life? The mistake that Ning and I had been committing, was to set up dates for Wang in the situations that he isn't very happy to be in - like at public places, pubs and discs, etc," explained Jack.

Ning was pleased at her husband's analysis of the situation. "Exactly! And we've decided to change the plan. We would be introducing the girl in such a way so that she is going to be in front of Wang.. in his daily routine, at his work place and all his business trips," chimed in Ning.

Smith listened to them with all this attention. He turned his gaze towards Jack. "Now, I get it! You are talking about the post of Wang's personal assistant. You are going to place that girl in the position of his PA in the company.. She's going to set up the entire schedule for Wang, escort him to all the important places, and even decide when Wang will eat and drink. In short, she'll be there.. wherever Wang would be!" babbled Smith.

Jack smiled continuously. He was happy to see Smith getting the feel of the idea. "Look at that! Look at that! The power of love! Smith, Love has made your brain so versatile. What an amazing person you are?" praised Jack, as he turned his gaze back to Ning. "Ning, did you see how clever Smith is?" Jack asked Ning, as he smiled at Smith, and then turned his attention towards Ning again.

"Well done, Smith," cheered Ning. "You're spot on, as always. We are going to place the girl as Wang's assistant. And then, we will plan how to make him fall in love with this girl," continued Ning, as Smith listened to her with a raised eyebrow.

Jack clapped his hands in excitement. "Yay! And then, we are going have a double wedding - you and Chunhua, and Wang and that girl. Isn't this going to be amazing?" laughed Jack.

"It certainly is. And we will have to make sure that this all happens within six months from now," insisted Ning as she saw Smith, who was now focused on his own thoughts.

It was already too late at night. Smith was now too confused to get into more details and decided to bring an end to the meeting. Three of them finished off the snacks and Smith drove back to his home after the formal farewell greetings.

Ning and Jack stayed in the lobby, till late at night, planning for what had to be done, the very next morning.
