49 The gossip queens

Lina saw two girls sitting in the cafe of the company. They seemed to be having a coffee break. Lina decided that it was better to indulge in an interaction with the colleagues who were enjoying a coffee break, rather than disturb someone who's busy.

Lina walked towards them and introduced herself. She ordered a sandwich for herself and began to mix up with the girls. Their conversation was soon interrupted by someone- familiar to Lina - Jimmy, a spectacled man, with frowsy hair, who was aunt Ning's trustworthy employee. He had taught Lina everything about the office work.

"Hello, I'm Jimmy," smiled Jimmy, as he winked at Lina. "I'm the manager of the technical department," introduced Jimmy as he shook hands with Lina.

Lina heaved a sigh of relief after finally seeing someone who was a part of the plan. "I'm Lina," she giggled.

Jimmy continued. "You must be Mr. Wang's new personal assistant. Great to see you here. Let me know if you need any information. You can meet me anytime in the technical department," smiled Jack as he placed his hand on Lina's shoulder. Next, he turned his gaze towards the other two ladies. "You girls continue! Get to know each other. I need to visit the department," said Jimmy and began to walk towards his office.

The girls continued with their gossip. The two girls were over excited to meet the CEO's new assistant and wanted to extract out as much information as possible.

"Hey! Tell me something. Now, that you are so close to CEO Wang, you must be having all the information," the first girl asked Lina. "Is it true that there's a cold war going on between Mr. Wang and John?" she asked.

Lina decided to play it safe. "I don't think I should be talking about this," she replied.

"Come on! As if we won't know about it. It's so obvious. Mr. Wang is so particular about all the minute details.. and the entire company knows.. that John*.. that crazy photographer.. does not care much. They've been arguing over so many things," giggled the second girl.

"Hmm," Lina gave no reply as she focused on eating her sandwich.

The first girl continued. "Mr. Wang's requirements are so difficult to meet. He gives orders to John*.. and John* goes crazy. They recently had a fight over a female model.. haha!" she laughed.

Lina listened to both of them with half her attention, and the pending half was devoted towards her sandwich.

Smith had just walked out of Wang's office. He entered the lobby area, waved at Lina, and continued to walk towards his own office.

Lina decided to gather some information about Smith. "Is Mr. Smith a partner in the company?" she asked the two girls.

"Yes! He takes care of the administrative department.. and I can't think of any individual who can handle the department better than him," praised the first girl. "Purchase related decisions and negotiations are also under his work domain. Mr. Wang is into creative section. His technical brain and creative skills have resulted in world famous concepts," shared the second girl.

Lina looked around to ensure that no one was listening to their conversation. She took a step near to the two girls. "And what about Miss. Chunhua?" she asked.

"She's one of the leading most fashion designers of the world. They always make sure to get her advice before taking any decision," remarked the second girl. "She had joined the company just six months back.. and she's already a favorite of both the partners," she winked.

"No! No! That's not the case," interrupted the first girl. "Chunhua is too desperate to impress Mr. Wang. And, Smith is too desperate to impress Chunhua," she giggled. "Chunhua likes Wang.. and Smith likes Chunhua. Hahah!" laughed the first girl.

The second girl interrupted. "Yes, even that can be true! Anything can be possible with Smith. He is such a womanizer," she giggled.

Lina was surprised. "Really? He doesn't look like a womanizer. He seems to be a complete gentleman. I think he is a very nice guy," said Lina.

"Yes, he is a nice guy. But, who said nice guys cannot be womanizers at the same time? People do have many traits in them. Smith helps people, he is a great manager, but is a womanizer as well," explained the second girl.

Suddenly, the first girl gestured the second one to stay silent.

Lina was clearly annoyed after hearing such adjectives for Smith. In her anger, she failed to notice that Wang had just walked into the lobby area, and was standing just behind Lina. The other two girls who were facing Lina had seen Wang.

Lina continued to defend her point. "Being nice is very important.. the most important for me. If you are in such a high position.. and you are still being nice, this means a lot. This should be appreciated.. I mean, whether you are an employer or an employee, no one has a right to assume anything wrong about people and look down upon them," Lina explained.

The second girl gestured Lina to look behind her back. Lina failed to interpret the signal.

Lina continued. "What? I'm not finished yet. So.. you see.. in the end, it is all about 'being nice'. People will love you for that. That's my opinion," Lina preached.

Her words were soon interrupted by Wang, who had been standing behind Lina, hearing her long explanation. "Ahmm! Miss. Lina. We have to go," ordered Wang and walked towards the main door.

Lina was stunned. With her eyes wide open in surprise, she grabbed her clutch and hurriedly followed her boss.
