1 Chapter 1

The news came on at 8 pm, the miniature reindeer toys on her headband bobbed She turned down the music playing on her MP3 player to get her fill of the weather report.

The snow was three feet deep and temperatures dropped by 12 degrees, they had to stay indoors until the roads were salted and that would be... by tomorrow!

She returned to humming along with the singer while she checked her inventory, in the Christmas spirit.

It had been a good year, no burglary, a few losses, repaid debts, they were good to go.

At least all the supplies turned up early on November.

"Keira!" Sam called out brushing her hair away from her eyes, she tied it up, exhausted from throwing it back all the time.

"Can you get off your lazy butt and help me carry these boxes?"

She groaned.

Keira feigned a sweet smile, she finished setting up the Christmas supplies, what was left were the boxes.

"No" Sam threw her head back groaning once more.

She was twenty years old with light blonde hair, the bangs almost covering her light blue eyes, she had a heart-shaped face with a pointed nose and thin pink lips

She kicked the other boxes away with her ugg boots, hobbling to the counter to sit back.

"I work too hard."

She took a sip of Keira's hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Keira rolled her eyes at her little sister.

Keira and Sam Miller always had each other since their parents passed away in a Ferry accident on their way to Ohio.

She worked hard to get Sam through college, only in her second year now, she was aspiring to be a vet, although she had a somewhat irrational fear of reptiles.

Sam unlike her knew how to spice things up, she was carefree and saw the bright side of life, Keira was somewhere in the middle and completely boring.

Yes, she could say that with a straight face.

She had red hair with cat-like green eyes and a skin so pale that she could be mistaken for a manequinn_the tan last two seasons were a disaster.

She only had a high school diploma and a first degree in computer science, utterly useful, she thought with a hint of sarcasm.

Sam snapped her manicured fingers in her face.

"Earth to Keira, you're zoning out again"

Keira gave her a 'seriously' kind of stare and picked up her mug to take a swig, it was empty, even the marshmallows were gone.

Sam licked her fingers with a look of content.

"Yeah, that's how long you were gone "

The music switched to Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'. Sam lit up and sang along to hit music.

'All I Want For Christmas Is You...!'

Keira scoffed when Sam pointed her fingers jokingly and did a little shimmy dance on the stool.

Her eyes strayed to the glass doors, it was still snowing, her car would be half-buried under the snow in no time.

"Don't worry sis."

Keira grimaced "How could I not worry? I don't even have bus fare_"

Their heads veered around to the doors again when someone banged on the glass.
