34 34 She Was an Outsider

October averted her eyes from Meixiu and looked at the front platform where the speaker who did the introductions spoke. Her eyes immediately landed on the middle-aged man carrying his 5-year old son on one hand and holding a young woman on the other. If one did not know who this woman was, they would have thought that it was the eldest daughter of Park Family.

It was such a huge scandal that exploded 5 or 6 years ago regarding this young woman in front of them that had successfully seduced the widowed master of the Park family. This was the most gossiped topic in all of the madams and misses on both small and big families. She looked so innocent but the rich madams attending the party knew just how shameless she was. So young yet she was already such a loose woman. If not for giving face to the master of one of the wealthiest family of the city, they wouldn't even give this woman a second glance. That's how much they looked down on this woman but it seemed that the person was just oblivious to her tainted reputation on high society. That or she was just thick-skinned and a good actress.

Peizhi Park, however unthinkable this was even to the point that some of the respectable men that he had connections with were frowning at his actions, they still did not meddle with his private affairs as long as their businesses are not affected. But some men who are brave and righteous enough and are truly devoted to their wives immediately cut ties with with him regardless if they will take some losses while some are just powerful enough to have the guts to do it.

Looking at them smiling brightly on stage made October to not have the guts to go near them. Such a thing was already beyond her reach now. 'They look so happy.'

Meixiu raised her well-shaped brow when she noticed the sudden drop of temperature around October. Tearing her eyes away from October, she looked at the people on stage and frowned deeply as soon as her gaze landed on the young woman. Meixiu rolled her eyes at this and harrumphed at the pretentious woman. Such a lowly woman acting all adorable and elegant when she's not. She then looked back on the unfeeling woman sitting on the chair and wondered why October got herself close with this lowly woman in the first place.

Fu Yung smiled a sweet smile as she stood confidently beside her husband. She was in fact really dissatisfied of how that speaker omitted of calling her. What was worse was that her husband did not even correct that damn speaker. She has to hold up herself from leaking her dissatisfaction and talk about it with her husband to fire him. She can't let herself be bullied now. She was already the new Mrs Park, the mother of the only son of Peizhi Park. Right now, she can literally have everything she want that she was not able to get before.

Glancing at the crowd below, something caught her attention through her peripheral vision. Fu Yung looked at it again and there she saw an expressionless woman donned with a black dress sitting in a corner. Her smile widened even more.

Tapping on her husband's shoulder to get his attention, she whispered in a light tone into his ear, "Honey, look over there."

Following the direction that wife pointed to, Peizhi felt like his heart dropped into his stomach as soon as he saw October. He did invite her but he did not expect her really come. He was having mixed emotions. It was already been a long time since he saw his eldest. As he was wallowing in his melancholic emotions, he felt a tug beside him. Looking down, he saw his wife with a bright smile on her cute face and almost instantly, he forgot the person he just saw.

October knew that her father saw her but acted as if she was not even there. A hint of disappointment flash passed her dead eyes for just a second. She slowly stood while tucking a some strands behind her hair and decided to get some food for her to eat.

Meixiu got irritated as October just seemed to not notice her at all. She really wondered why October was really such a cold person. But then again, having such family... Meixiu looked at the thin frame of October's back and somehow felt pity for her.

But it seems like that woman would not just let her be because when she was getting back to her seat, she was stopped by Fu Yung who was literally standing in her way. And as expected, looking passed her, October saw her father holding his son by the hand while walking toward them with a look as if he was looking at a stranger. Well, she really doesn't need to expect anything now. Thinking like this, October felt like her being was getting more empty and colder. Even being like this, she still did not have any expression on her placid eyes.

Fu Yung looked at October who stood frozen in place. She knew that her husband and son followed her here but was just a little delayed due to the greetings said to her cute son. Fu Yung laughed in delight in her mind while looking at the still stoic October.

Blinking her eyes innocently, Fu Yung swiftly moved closer to October and took both of her hands as she squealed in delight. "Daughter, you made it here."

Before Fu Yung's hand could even last a second more, October flicked her hand away in reflex. Even if she was indifferent about a lot of things, she was still human who can hold a grudge. Suddenly, she noticed something and nonchalantly said, "Please conduct yourself appropriately, Miss Fu."

Fu Yung froze in place with her hand awkwardly got swatted away and felt the chill running up her spine when she heard the icey voice of October. It was a voice that seemed like to carry sharp icicles and pierced through her very skin. Even if she still had a smile on her lips, her blood already turned cold. What was even more irritating was that she just called her by her name and not Mrs. Fu.

"Also, I don't remember having a mother like you, a woman who has the same age as me." October coldly said as she gave Fu Yung a blank but eerily dangerous eyes. She was really skeptical as to how she got herself so fooled by this woman. "Also, get away from me."

This smell...she hates this. She felt like she was having a headache. If not for the people crowding the place, she would have swiftly walked out of here. Also, right now, they are gathering a lot of attention. Being the low key as she was, she wants to end this supposed sudden "encounter" right away or else, she might really get more headaches that'll make her nauseous.

Just as she was about to turn to leave, she suddenly heard her name being called making her body stiffen for a second. Even if she can feel her heart beating so fast, she tried her best to stay calm and collected as she turned to the person who just called.
