32 32 An Acquaintance

Putting on some red-colored lipstick, October's final touches of light make up on her pristine face was already finished. She decided to tie her black hair into a messy side bun with a single pin shaped in a flower on it. However she looked at herself. she still looked rather plain.

October went to get her black clutch bag with the invitation and phone on it and went out of her apartment. Although she doesn't want to attend the party, she still need to do it in order to give face to her father. It was already 5 years now since she last saw him. She doesn't know what to say to him when they will see each other today. And Fu Yung. That woman who stole her home will also be there right too.

The elevator door finally opened. Slowly, October walked out of her apartment complex. She will need to drive her car to go to the venue. Unexpectedly though, a car stopped in front of her. The driver got out of the car and went to stand in front of her and bowed respectfully and greeted, "Young miss, it's been a while."

October looked at the man in front of her with a blank face. It really has been a while since he saw him. This man is the son of the head butler of the family, Liu Chen. He is around her age and so can also be considered her childhood friend. Unfortunately, that was all in the past. Both of them have already grown and changed. They can only be passed as mere acquaintances now.

"Mm." October nodded but didn't say more. The only thing was why he was here.

Liu Chen smiled dejectedly at how cold the response he got from her. Their distance that was only a feet away before were now a thousand miles apart. Never had he thought that such drastic change will suddenly happen to his young miss. That cold eyes and blank expression in front of him still made him mesmerize and his heart jump from his chest. "I was ordered by master to escort you, young miss."

'Ahh. So that's why.' October thought as she nodded again in acknowledgement. It seems like her father still remembers her somehow.

"Young miss, please." Liu Chen opened the car door and gestured for October to get in the car. He also extended his hand to offer her assistance while she did so, unfortunately, she did not take it and just get in herself making Liu Chen take back his offered hand that was rejected coldly.

Smiling bitterly, Liu Chen closed the door and went to get in himself and started to make their way to the venue. Both of them were silent during the ride but Liu Chen kept on stealing glances at her through the rear view mirror. She was looking outside with a bored look but it was still beautiful in the eyes of someone else, especially when the evening lights outside illuminates her jade-like face. It was really such a breath-taking sight for him. After seeing her for the first in 5 years, she looked stunning and more mature.

"Young miss, do you want me to open the car window?" Liu Chen asked.

"...No." October replied. It might be cold out. She wants to avoid making herself sick. Also, she needs to go home early for she still have work tomorrow. She hopes that tonight's party would just end immediately.

Twenty minutes passed, the car finally stopped in front of a restaurant which she knew that her father is one of the biggest shareholders of it. It was a restaurant that have a lot of branches on other cities and abroad.

October got out of the car slowly after Liu Chen opened the door for her. She thought of how nostalgic it was for her to be here again after such a long time and that nothing much has changed.

People from other big families were also seen making their way into the restaurant while also exchanging pleasantries from one family to another. And so, as soon as she got out of the car, some of the people stopped and looked her way only to see a stunning beauty standing gracefully and elegantly while being escorted by her butler.

Who was this young woman who looks so ravishingly beautiful that gives them this cool and unique aura?

That was the question that immediately popped up in every people's minds. At this time, October was gathering a lot of attention on herself as she started to make her way toward the entrance without even giving others a fleeting glance. She gave every person there a very icey and intimidating atmosphere making them not take a single step to greet her and know who she was even if they wanted to. Although some of them were curios as to who she was, some felt like they saw her somewhere.

"Haha." A laugh was suddenly heard ahead and stepped out a man in his forties to stand in front of October. "I didn't know that I'll see you hear, Assistant Director Park."

Hearing that this woman in her twenties was an assistant director and was even greeted first by the president that owns most of the hotels there are in a lot of cities was really such a blow to most. The few people who felt like she looked familiar suddenly gave her a second look and nodded in recognition. The woman in front of them was that popularly stunning Assistant Director of Halo Company which they sometimes saw on some occasions.

October stopped in her tracks as she looked at the man in front of her and said indifferently, "Good evening, President Zhou and Madam Zhou."

President Zhou laughed again as he looked at October with curious eyes. Seeing her here confirms everything that he suspects. What he was more curious about was the reason why she was trying to live a low profile.

"A good evening to you too, Miss Park." Madam Zhou said with a warm smile on her pretty face. Even though she was already in her early forties, she still maintained herself young with a slim body that seemed like it did not gave birth of three children. Also, she was really kind and gentle too, not at all bothered by how expressionless October was every time they meet.

"I hear that you have yet to find yourself a husband, Miss Park. My eldest son is already 21 years old this year so I can make an arrangement for you two to meet. I've always wanted to have a daughter like you. It is a shame that I had 3 boys with me which always gives me headache." Madam Zhou happily said with her eyes glittering with excitement at the thought of having October as her daughter-in-law. Such a fine lady was really such a good catch for her son. Thinking this, she looked at her husband and said, "Don't you also think so, Darling?"

October looked at the couple in front of her that was showing their love for each other. Such a sight was really beautiful and bright for her. When will she have that kind of atmosphere?
