22 22 Free Ride

October sat on her chair in her office with her chin propped on her hands as she stared absentmindedly onto nothing. She was really so flustered about what happened this morning when she got up. It was really such a very unexpected dream.

What was that all about? Why did she had a dream of Lexus? And he was even half naked next to her on her own bed. And wife? WIFE?!

October shook her head in disbelief at how wild her dream was. They say that dreams sometimes reflect what your heart and mind truly desires. So does that mean deep down within her, she wanted to be his, Lexus', wife?

No...no no no. She can't think like that; it was impossible. Someone like Lexus was out of her reach. Even getting to meet him in the first place was just a mere coincidence in and of itself. Someone like Lexus who has the looks and wealth will definitely have a lot of girls lining up for him. Although she does not need such good background and great wealth, she still think that those girls were better than her.

What if she will see him walking with a different girl in his embrace, what will she do? October felt like her chest got squeezed in pain at just the thought of it, how much more if it really happened and she witnessed it with her own 2 eyes? Can she really look straight at them with a blank look? Can she hide her...emotions?

Maybe she can hide her emotions since she was already emotionless in the first place, right? Yes, she can definitely look at them like as if they were nothing but strangers. She was already numb.

October convinced herself that she can do it. She can ignore them. Her life will definitely go back to normal just like how she was back when she didn't meet him.

October's eyes glowed with determination and great resolve. She has to do this in order for her to not be stuck with it and be able to continue her work peacefully.

As planned, she continued her work silently, trying to block all of the past events and trying to eventually forget about it. However, it doesn't seem as peaceful for Yun Xixi and the other employees.

"So how was it? There's still none? It's already been a week!" Yun Xixi asked Li Chen anxiously in a soft voice. She looked at the closed doors of October's office with a worried look on her face.

"No ma'am, there was none today as well." Li Chen answered sadly; she was one of the receptionists on the first floor who was also one of the Ice Director's admirers. She was also frustrated at this too and felt helpless that she can't do anything about it.

"Okay. Thanks, Chen'er." Xixi ended the call and sighed on her chair. She was really worried for the love life of her boss, although she herself doesn't have one right now but that's not her concern at the moment. Anyway, she can't just leave her boss like this. She saw that her boss was already making progress on developing and showing her emotions but, right now, she was starting to revert back to her old emotionless self.

What really happened last Monday? She heard that her boss was picked up by a car but no one knew whose car it was. She scratched her head as she really don't know what really happened and she was dying to know what it was but she can't just ask her boss directly.

Yun Xixi propped her chin on one hand as she mused on how to go about it by indirectly asking her boss who seemed to act as if nothing really happened when all of a sudden the door clicked open. Xixi automatically straightened her sitting posture and looked toward the person standing calmly by the door. She looked so dignified and graceful even just by not doing anything special.

How can someone be so cold and apathetic yet still charmingly beautiful at the same time? This was just so unfair but she really also can't blame her boss who was born that way, though she was skeptical on how her boss got to be so emotionless.

"I'm going home first, Xixi. You can also go home now too if you're finished with work." October said with even tone as she adjusted her bag on her shoulders and started walking.

After October walked for a couple of steps, she turned around and looked to Xixi who was fixing her things on her table. She thought for a second and then decided to ask, "Are you going out now, Xixi?"

Yun Xixi snapped her head toward her boss and was left bewildered to her sudden question. "Uh...yes, director. I have already sorted out my files and finished my work for the day."

October nodded her head slowly and nonchalantly said while turning her heels around and started to walk toward the exit of her office and to the elevator, "Let's go home together then. I'll just drop you off."

Yun Xixi felt like there was a ringing on her ears; she thought that she was just hearing things as she stared dumbfounded on October's slim back.

"Xixi, hurry. Let's go already." October said urgently to Yun Xixi who then realized that her boss really just offered her a free ride.

"Y-yes, director. Coming." Yun Xixi hurriedly replied and immediately gathered her things and run to follow her boss. Even though she was skeptical at the sudden offer, she was still happy to accept this very rare opportunity to ride on her boss' personal car. She'll be really stupid if she would reject this offer. She'll definitely brag about this on the company website. Surely, they'll definitely be envious of her.

With a smile on her lips, Yun Xixi followed her boss silently onto the parking lot and got into the passenger seat though she can't help but feel really nervous. She then bit her lip and took the courage of taking out her phone slowly out of her bag and took quick pictures of the inside of the car.

October took a side-way glance to Xixi who was sneakily taking picture after picture on the interior of her car. Her secretary seemed like enjoying herself in it as it clearly showed on her bright face and sparkling eyes. She then raised her brow in wonder and looked at her rear-view mirror to see if there were something wrong with her car but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

October shrugged her shoulders and decided to just turn a blind eye to it as she already noticed that her secretary sometimes acts like this. She really don't understand Yun Xixi sometimes but she knew that she was a really good person. Her secretary really treats her well too.

October asked to where Yun Xixi was staying and found out that she lived quite far and have to commute every single day. She wondered why her secretary didn't buy herself a car for easy transportation.

While driving, October didn't notice her secretary taking a picture of her and posted it on the company website. Right after posting, there were already a flood of likes and comments on the photos.

Yun Xixi was smiling ear to ear while reading their comments and mostly of their comments were praises of how beautiful their company goddess was in every angle. There were not a single flaw on her face, body, attitude and working ethics. Even her lack of emotions became an added charm and allure to her; it really made her very unique and stand out from the other women.

Yun Xixi was happily looking at her phone and didn't notice that she already arrived at her home. She happily thanked her boss and bowed when the car drove off. Xixi really felt like her boss was truly kind. She felt very grateful and lucky to be assigned as the assistant director's secretary.

"Ah!" Yun Xixi cried out and slapped her forehead with her hand. She completely forgot on asking her boss about what happened. She just let the great opportunity to slip by. Will she get to have another chance? Yun Xixi really felt like crying yet there were no tears for her to cry.
