15 15 Frustration and Oddness
Three weeks have now passed since October started receiving bouquets of flowers. Her apartment was already decorated with flowers, even her office were not spared. Every corner and table in her office, there will be a vase of flowers.
On the first day of the fourth week, there was a commotion caused by the employees on the lowers floors. They were anxious, curious, and worried that there was none today. It really was just a small matter, but to employees who were excited about it was surprised to the point of making a big deal out of it.
Such matter was immediately raised to Yun Xixi who was also worried but also helpless about it. She glanced at the closed office doors that was reeking with dark and gloomy air making her shiver to her bones. Her boss was seriously not in a good mood.
Inside the office, October was holding a document. She was working as usual, a pen on her hand was ready for her corrections. But at this moment, if one observed her, the document was still the same document as the one she had early morning and the pages that were only few.
October knew that she shouldn't get used to it. She's angry at herself for getting used to it. She was even looking forward to what kind of flowers he'll send. But today, there was not a single one flower, even just a glimpse of a petal.
With a frown on her face, she felt annoyed at how he played her. But she can't also complain to him. In fact, she's still uncertain if the person sending these flowers was really from him. She doesn't know that she was slowly sinking into Lexus' sweet trap for her, a man that was both alluring and dangerous.
The document on her hand got crumpled. With frustration in her melodiously cold voice, she spat, "Bastard!"
There was no point in regretting it anymore. She knew she mustn't expect much but Lexus was consistent up until now.
Unconsciously, the document in her hand flew across the room and hit the door with a bang.
Yun Xixi flinched on her seat when she heard the bang inside. I quickly turned her head on the door and hesitated to approach it. She knew that her boss must've been upset. Even she herself and all her followers and admirers in the company were upset about it.
Making their director so upset like this was unforgivable. If they knew who this man was, they would definitely do everything they can to avenge their Ice Director.
Without hesitating anymore, Yun Xixi stood up and immediately opened the door. She saw that some papers were scattered on the floor and that her boss was still sitting on her seat. But what really surprised her was the frown on her boss' face. It was an expression she never knew her boss can make.
Yun Xixi blinked her eyes a few times but there really was a frown on that gorgeous face. She was not mistaken.
"Director?" Yun Xixi called and immediately, the cold green eyes that was swirling like storm turned to look at her. She felt like she's been bathed with cold water making her shudder.
October saw Yun Xixi standing by the door stiffly and looking at her with wide eyes and had a pale complexion.
October knew that she let her emotion out. She felt odd for she doesn't usually get angry easily or even throw something all of a sudden. She's been like this lately. Even her menstruation didn't come when it usually came in the middle of the month. But maybe it was just late this month. Also, her breasts seemed to be sore lately. She really felt that it was odd.
October felt that she's just overthinking things. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. After opening it back, she now has her usual calm and composed self. The frown on her face no longer there.
"Collect the papers on the floor and arrange it properly before sending it back to me." October nonchalantly said to Yun Xixi as she avoided the bewildered stare directing her way.
What October wanted to say was that the documents that was given to her were bot arranged properly and so she tossed it on the floor. Yun Xixi knew what her boss meant but her guts told her something else. Although she knew her boss was lying, there's nothing else she could do. She just needs to support her.
With that, Yun Xixi picked up all of the papers on the floor and silently went out to rearrange it.
After Yun Xixi went out, October sighed. She needed to forget about him. It already affected her work tremendously. She needed to focus now and finish her work.
Determined, October started working at her own pace. After a few moments, Yun Xixi went inside to put he arranged papers on her table and went out right away.
Yun Xixi knew that her boss wanted to distract herself by focusing all her attention on work and nothing else. She's really frustrated for her boss.
October checked proposals after proposals and made reports after reports. She even almost skipped her meal. Good thing that her secretary reminded her and took a quick meal.
In the afternoon, she had a meeting with Director Sheng. After the meeting, he asked her if how she was after the 'scandal' that she was initially been involved.
Director Sheng is one of the few people who knew of her family background and her circumstances. But they didn't mind it, instead they really treat her well and looked at her skills and not her backing.
However, they only knew her connection here in City D and not in City A but she don't think that it is her obligation to tell them in the first place. In fact, she can almost definitely say that no one knows that her maternal grandfather is from City A for even her father doesn't know of it.
Aside from that, she was really grateful to the people here at Halo company.
October knew that Director Sheng was just worried about her and so she only said that he doesn't need to worry about it and that its already been covered by a new scandal much more worse than hers.
After the meeting, she went back to her office and continued to distract herself with her piled-up work that she planned to finish before going home.
Flipping through the pages of the last proposal for the day, October's phone suddenly went off. She stopped and looked for her phone in her bag. She felt something unusual and pulled it out. It was the blue box containing the Forget-Me-Not necklace.
Immediately, she was reminded of Lexus, his brows, lips, nose and his burning gaze. She pursed her lips with a frown and immediately tossed it back in her bag. She has to stop thinking about him. He already stopped doing it anyway so why bother? Maybe he was just bored at that time?
The more she think about it, the more frustrated she was and the more she felt a tug of pain in her chest.
A sound blared again, making October snap out of her bubble and immediately searched for her phone. When she found it, she immediately answered, "Grandfather."
"Granddaughter, what took you so long to answer?" Grandpa He asked, a little annoyed.
"Sorry grandpa, I was focused with my work that I was not able to immediately answer." October bit her lip as she just lied to her grandfather.
"Hmph! You're too focused with your work. That's not good for your health at all." Grandpa He said with deep concern in his old voice. "Take care of yourself. Eat more meat. You're too skinny."
"Okay, grandpa." October replied and glanced at her wrist. Indeed, she was quite skinny.
"Good. It's good to know that you're listening to me. Anyway, are you free now?" Grandpa He asked in a mischievous voice.
"...why?" October suspiciously asked. She felt that her grandpa is up to something.
"So you're free!" Grandpa He laughed loudly. "Get ready. I'll have someone pick you up there from your company. Don't be late." He immediately ended the call, making October unable to decline his arrangement.
October sighed at the randomness of her grandpa. She wondered what could he planning to do.
A knocking sound on her door made October turned to her door. After that, her secretary opened the door and went in.
"Director, there's a man asking for you. He said that he's here to pick you up." Yun Xixi said as her eyes glowed in curiosity and gossip. When October saw her face, she find it funny and cute but still didn't show it on her face.
"Okay. Tell him I'll be there." October was surprised that her grandfather really was fast at almost everything. She then fixed her things and went down on her own, with only her bag on hand.
