8 08 Forget-Me-Not

It's him!

October's blood turned cold but her heart was beating erratically. Why is it him? Is it really him? October was incredulous. She closed her hand holding the necklace as she couldn't believe it.

What does he even want from her? He's insane! She already said to him that she doesn't want to get involved with him anymore.

The hand of October that was holding the necklace shook. But maybe she guessed wrong...right? Right? She needed to calm down and think. She just can't jump into conclusions.

October got up from her her seat and started making her way toward the door and out of her office. She turned and saw Xixi who was sitting on her table, arranging some files, and approached her. Seems like Xixi didn't notice her presence.

She needed to know what this is. October was gambling if Xixi knows what it was.

"Xixi, do you know what this is?" October asked as she opened her palm and showed Xixi the silver necklace.

Xixi jumped in fright when she suddenly heard someone talk beside her and placed her hand over her pounding chest and let out a sigh when she realized that it was just her boss. It really scared the daylights out of her. She thought it was a ghost.

After calming down, she noticed that her boss' hand was outstretched toward her, to show her something. She looked at it and almost screamed in pleasant surprise. She blinked her eyes profusely as she gasped.

"Oh my gosh! Sooooo pretty. C-can I touch it? No...no, no. I can't. It looked so pretty." Xixi gawked as she stretch her hand to touched but can't for she feels like it will get tainted by her "dirty" hands.

October looked at her secretary who was looking at the necklace on her hand with her eyes shining and mouth almost drooling. Why was Xixi acting like so?

"Xixi." October called.

"Ah yes Director. Is this the gift inside that small box? It looks expensive too. And the flowers." Xixi asked, looking up at her boss with sparkling curious eyes. It was so bright that almost made October cover her eyes from its brightness for it was just so blinding.

"Nevermind that. Do you know what flower this is?" October asked seemingly unaffected but there was a hint of urgency in her voice.

"Oh." Xixi turned her attention back on the necklace and tilted her head trying to identify what it was. "Blue flower...hmmm...hydrangea? No. Delphinium? No, I don't think so." Xixi mumbled and touched her chin deep in thought. "Give me a sec, Director." Xixi said as she searched on her laptop.

October nodded and gave Xixi time to look into it.

"Got it. It is a true blue flower called "forget-me-not flower"..." When October heard what the flower was, her heart gave a big tug.

"...and in the flower language, it means just as what its name implies, remembrance. It also represents true love and fond memories as a couple." Xixi squealed in delight and turned to look at her boss who was as beautiful as a goddess.

Xixi was so excited but October wasn't as she frowned with deep creases between her brows and sharply turned to leave.

Xixi was so happy which made her feel like she's floating in the air that made the scowl on October's face so obvious and red.

"Was he your boyfriend, Director? The one who sent you those flowers and necklace? So sweet." Xixi remarked as she grinned for ear to ear but her boss' reaction was something she least expected, making her smile freeze and sweat a cold sweat.

"No, he's not." October said through gritted teeth, a voice so piercingly cold making one shiver in fear, and then went inside her office with a slam on the door.

Xixi was flabbergasted. She almost toppled over from her seat and onto the floor. What have she done? It seemed like she just made her boss angry. Her hands were sweating, her knees were shaking. What should she do now? This is the first time that Xixi made her boss angry like that. Xixi bit her lip in worry as she cast a nervous glance at the closed door of October's office.

While Xixi got herself so anxious to the point of her wanting to cry, October was clutching the necklace so tight as if wanting to break it into dust.

Now I'm pretty sure that it him, Lexus. That Jerk! What did he mean by that? Remembrance can be negotiated but true love? Seriously? She believed that such a man was not capable of such love. He was pretty dangerous in so many ways possible, especially her little heart that seemed like it was going to erupt.

October walked toward her table and shoved the necklace back into its box. She slammed both of her hands on the table so hard that it shook. She was not bothered at all when her hands sting like hell and red as tomato, what bothered her most is her heart that was pounding so fast like it was trying to escape out of her chest.

"What does he want from me?! Why is he doing this to me?! Why can't he just let me be?" October huffed in anger as she clutched her chest on one hand and putting her weight on the other hand leaning on the table. She was frustrated, annoyed, anxious, and angry even though she's not clear if she's angry at Lexus or angry at herself. She doesn't know about that but what she was certain was that Lexus keeps on haunting her.

October bit her lip so hard that she can almost taste her blood. But she heard a knock on her door making her snap out of her stupor. That's right. She'll just ignore him. Stop thinking about him. Lexus was just a stranger. She tried convincing and comforting herself that did little.

October straightened herself with clenched hands on both sides and took a deep shaky breath before answering to the door. "What is it?" She asked with her back on the door and the door slowly opened.

"D-Director, its almost time for your meeting with the advertising team." Xixi cautiously reminded while standing at the door.

October let out a deep breath and turned to walk toward the meeting room, reverting back into a calm and composed her that has a cold atmosphere. "Let's go."

"Yes, Director." Xixi heaved a sigh of relief when she noticed that her boss was back to normal. With her worry vanishing into thin air, she reverted back to her cheerful self and followed her boss to the meeting room located on the floor just 1 level below them.
