21 Can't you tone it down a bit? Part1

Grandpa Su napped for almost the entirety of the afternoon. Su Lin, as well, flopped onto the bed in the Su family mansion's guest room.

Though she had almost won half the battle, tonight was still crucial and she wanted to carefully think through all the possibilities.

Now that her health has somewhat stabilized, Su Lin was officially free to begin her new life.

And the first thing she wanted to do was earn some money.

Earn more money, relax in luxury, enjoy the pretty things, and scour this planet for spiritual energy. This was her entire agenda for her life on earth, in that order.

Once she becomes strong enough, she would be freely able to return to her old world in this body.

One might say that this was her summer vacation from her violent and bastardly bloodthirsty world. So she wanted to live here as long as possible and enjoy this life to the fullest.

But unfortunately for her, the previous Su Lin was a poor orphan and on top of that, she had this pest called Shi Meng attached to her life.

So Su Lin decided to use the Su family to achieve the first step of her agenda.

Su family's entire reputation and wealth were built on capital investment and banking. So they were kind of perfect for her.

Su Lin carefully thought about the various questions that might pop up and spent the entire afternoon tossing and turning in the bed.

With Shi Meng and his mother coming in for dinner tonight, she was going to a lamb among the lions. Except, in this case, the lamb was really a dragon in disguise.

Just as Su Lin had expected, Mama Meng created a loud ruckus as soon as she entered the Su family's mansion.

"Get down here, you ungrateful wench. How dare you come and hide in this decent family? Is it not enough that I chased you out of our family?"

"Why are you begging me to chase you out of this entire country?"

"Calm down. Xiao Ling. Calm down." Grandpa Su creased his eyebrows and walked out of his room.

He looked at mama Meng and Shi Meng standing next to her and sternly spoke. "I invited you both here to talk about things peacefully. If you are not capable of that, please leave."

The mother and son pair immediately quieted down and walked over to the dining table.

Mrs. Su, Su Han's mother, and Grandpa Su's daughter-in-law was out of town, so it was just the five of them for dinner.

But grandpa Su had a feeling that just this five was enough to create a chaos equivalent to a fifty people dinner party, especially considering the loud uncouth Shi Meng's mother.

Su Lin as well walked downstairs from her room and joined the others in the table. She had a very dainty innocent and pure look on her face.

The woman seemed extremely fragile and delicate, and could easily invoke a protective feeling even in a stranger.

But both the mother and son pair did not buy her act. As soon as they saw her, they gritted their teeth in anger.

One could even see the family resemblance in their angry faces. The mother and son pair grimaced in the exact same way.

Su Lin held her laughter in and calmly walked over to join them. She then shamelessly sat down right in between Su Han and Grandpa Su.

Mama Meng immediately glared at her and was about to curse her, when the old man cleared his throat lightly. She could only gnash her teeth and shut her mouth.

Shi Meng on the other hand silently stared at his ex-wife. If looks could kill, then Su Lin would already be dead ten times over.

Now that the last member of this tragic dinner party had arrived, the housekeeper walked over with trays of delicacies and started serving the dishes one by one.

A heavenly aroma wafted out and Su Lin's stomach rumbled. The poor woman hadn't eaten anything since morning and simply wanted to devour the food in front of her.

But Su Lin cried inside and controlled her hunger. In order to maintain her act, she behaved like a sad and dejected recent divorce and nibbled on the meat in her plate absent-mindedly.

It was almost as if she had absolutely no interest in anything and looked very pitiful and lifeless.

Mama Meng looked at her sad gloomy face and grimaced even more. "Don't think you can worm your way back into our family, just by a few crocodile tears. Stupid slut."

"That's enough Xiao Ling." Grandpa Su sighed.

Seeing that he can't put off this confrontation any longer, he rubbed his temples and started the topic.

"Kiddo, how can you doubt your wife just because her cancer got cured? In fact, from the reports I read, it hadn't even been cured completely."

"The malignant tumor was somehow locked into her spleen and then the doctor removed it. Is that not correct?"

"So she is not cheating or lying to anyone. Why do you have to go to such extremes and divorce this innocent loving woman."

Grandpa Su explained his point of view and tried to talk sense into the arrogant brat.
