"How is Zach going to get home today?" I asked as I realized they come to school together.
His face was firm. "Zach brought his own Volvo today." He didn't look so entertained. Was it because I brought up Zach or because I brought up a third person between us?
"Oh!" I realized they were extremely rich so it was obvious that they had different cars.
"So this one belongs to you." I tried to change the subject.
This time there was a smile. "I'm shocked you couldn't come to the conclusion sooner."
He was right. I should have guessed it sooner. The dark black finish of the car fit his taste perfectly. There was no doubt it belonged to him. I felt like an idiot for even verifying it.
The remaining ride from school to my home went in silence accompanied by the splattering sound of the rain in the background. He was engaged in driving while I was just lost.
