2 The Desert

As we were informed we were being transported to a government stronghold nearby which was a day's trip away.Being so close to it gave the group a sense of security , a fake sense of security before the horror that shall befall them.

As the convoy was heading forward the front truck suddenly stopped synching with the other trucks as they formed a circular formation with the trucks for defense. As we alighted I saw a survivor shouting " What you doing we need to go to the stronghold not for a rest stop".

A officer then walked up to him and separated him from the others afraid he will affect everyone's minds which were at the tipping point from collapsing. "Sir please calm down, our soldiers are even more tired than you, they have been mobilised since morning till now with not a single break in between, I must let them rest or they will collapse before we reached the stronghold."

As the soldiers were distributing some food and water to everyone, everyone was silent as if there was a silent agreement in the air for everyone to mourn for those who died and for some to rest. After distributing, most of the soldiers collapsed onto the ground immediately falling asleep with staying up to keep watch.

With a bright full moon that shined with an eerie glow, non of those who were not exhausted found it hard to fall asleep with the bloodbath and the massacre that happened this afternoon fresh in their mind. As the night continues most if not all give in to their mind telling them to rest and I too sank into deep sleep.

Somewhere in the desert 10 miles from the camp , a hand suddenly stretched out from the ground. Under the moonlight it looked horrifying if one were to look closely there was no skin left only bones , a head , another hand and body soon climbed out from the ground as more and more hands emerged soon a army of the nothing but skeletons were formed.

With the sound of bones crackling in the air, they marched their way sluggishly towards the camp in eerie manner.

As the moon hangs high in the air, the sirens started again, everyone panicked as they carried everything they can and jumped on the trucks pushing shoving each other until a officer fired a shot from his pistol to maintain order.

As the trucks started we looked for what might have cause the sirens but saw am army , an army of skeletons as they marched forwards towards us. Then a lady in the truck screamed and fainted due to the shock as the nearby survivors went to help her.

The unforgettable scene etched into my mind as moments before it was our camp were trampled upon by skeletons as the distance between us increased, we gave a sign of relief. While we fall back into slumber wanting to forget horrors of the night I heard another ringing sound in my mind.
