1 Beginning

Mage walked across the beautiful and sprawling campus of Calibri University. He adjusted his backpack as he walked by various tables with banners and older students trying to lobby freshmen into their respective clubs. Dodging two over-enthusiastic guys wanting to tell him why their club was the best chess club, he continued on his way to his dorm assignment.

After a five minutes' walk under the sun, Mage arrived at his destination sweating slightly. Damn summer… he cursed in his mind. The building he arrived at was a one storey building that looked less like a dorm and more like a house. Mage walked through the front door dragging in his suitcase and backpack. If one was perceptive enough, they would notice that the suitcase was light… too light in fact. It was almost as if there were little or no items in it.

That was exactly the case. Mage only had two pairs of clothes in the suitcase, which were the clothes they men who were holding him custody had been kind enough to give him. In the backpack, Mage had all his other belongings… if you could call them that. It was filled with junks and trinkets and all other odd stuffs that held sentimental value to him from his time in Oreo city's underground.

Of course the backpack was also very light, but this was by Mage's design. He made it so in order to travel light and move quickly in case of emergencies. Even though he had been repeatedly assured that the offer to study at Calibri had been genuine, growing up in the crime filled underworld taught him one thing: Trust no one!

Looking up, Mage took the hallway to his left and walked till he found himself looking at a sturdy door that looked to be made of metal or something else. The door's surface was flat except for a small box with an oval shaped pad on it. He was already used to seeing this type of doors back in Oreo, so without any fanfare he pressed his right thumb into the oval pad. The door swung open ten seconds later with a light buzz.

Mage stepped through the door into what looked like a living room to him. There were a few chairs set up and a small center table. There was a flat-screen television and the walls were painted in dark blue and white which was the official color code of Calibri University.

Mage went over to the side of the television, only to find out that there was an open doorway by the side. Walking through it, he found himself in a moderately sized kitchen. There was a large sink, a stove with multi burners and all kinds of other cooking utensils that Mage couldn't identity or possibly figure out the use for. Walking to the end of end the kitchen, Mage opened up the cupboard there to discover it to be fully stocked. Whistling softly, Mage closed the cupboard and left the kitchen after opening up the door opposite the cupboard to find it filled with mops, brooms and other cleaning equipments.

He walked back into the living room and climbed up the flight of stairs he had noticed previously. Getting to the top, he discovered four closed doors with a single alphabet lettered on them; M, Q, T and L. Looking closely; he also noticed an oval thumb scanner on each of the door.

Guessing that the alphabets were initials, he walked over to the door lettered 'M' and pressed his hand to the thumb scanner. His guess was apparently correct as the door swung open. Mage stepped into his room.

The room was not too luxurious, but it was definitely the best Mage had ever stayed in. Back in the Oreo, he didn't really have a place to call his, and during his detainment he stayed in a white cell room with a plain bed. There was a large bed in the corner with a desk and chair meant for a computer set in the other corner.  Between them was a window with sunlight streaming through the curtains. The floor was tiled and Mage walked across it to the closet at the end and pulled it open.

Mage was shocked to find the closet filled with rows of clothes. There were shirts, T-shirts, tracks; he even noticed a pair of briefs poking out at him. Puzzled, he hurriedly pulled the closet close, coming to a realization in his mind; this was someone else's room.

That was the only logical conclusion Mage could think of. The letters at the door must not have stood for initials as he first thought, and the lock at the door must have been broken or malfunctioning thereby granting him entry into someone else's room. Slapping a palm to his forehead, he thought…I should probably leave before the owner gets back. It would be really awkward if he comes back to find me in his room. And the last thing I need is a misunderstanding with my future dorm mates on the first day of school…

Wasting no time, he picked up his suitcase from where he dropped it to open the closet and with swift steps, made his way out the room. All of which landed him face to face with a dark skinned boy emotionlessly staring at him from the doorway.
