Chapter 12

LOU RIVERS

I woke up the next day feeling alive than ever before.

'I have found my mate'

I have always longed to meet my mate and I am among the few who have met their mate this quick.

'ayiee'

But it did hurt when she ran away from me. The moment I realized she doesn't want me, the pain stung more than any venom.

'ugh'

Shouldn't she be excited to meet me?

Well, guess she's not. Maybe I am not the mate she expected all along.

'tsk'

Even so, giving benefit of the doubt in the matter, I have composed myself. Maybe she was just too shocked to know that a girl is her mate and that she just needs time to accept it.

And so, I have decided to wait while of course, paving my way into her heart.

'ayieee'

For now, though she's not so accepting of me but I know deep within her that her words contradicts her feelings.

'la la la'

Hence, I have decided, I'm not going to be fazed of how many a times she'll deny me as long as she has not sworn the blood oath of rejection, I will not give up.

I will win her over even if I become an annoying pest in her sight but it would be better if she doesn't find me as such.

Right?

My strides were lighter when I headed my way to the common room of the huge packhouse.

The Alpha has arranged for a meeting to brief all pack members attending school for the next day.

I stood beside Maggie near the staircase. I also meekly ran my gaze around and —

'damn'

... the number of adults outnumbered the students.

"As the school is administered by our pack," the Alpha spoke with a tone of warning.

"I expect fair treatment of the students, may it be from our pack or the others."

Then his eyes searched for the young ones around, "As students, I want you to look at each other's back."

"To hurt one is to hurt the other."

"And as nobles, display superiority but not abusively or I'll torture you myself brutally."

"So be warned."

'woah'

There he inflicted fear to everyone but— no effect in mine.

'oopps'

When the meeting ended, while everyone is getting ready to depart, a cheerful girl, I believe I saw her at Rachel's home one morning, excitedly asked Alexa about the mate thing and it piqued interest from everyone around.

It was like the time had stopped for a second.

Everybody's attention shifted towards the girls. The question didn't past unheard and seemed to held so much importance to everybody.

And I saw how hard Alexa gulped and how her heart took a pace while the girl who asked, anticipated an answer with sparkling eyes, oblivious to what her action had caused.

Even Maggie and Marc on my side were intently looking at them too.

When Alexa seemed not to find her words, I decided to stand beside her.

"Hi," I greeted warmly then held out my hand.

"Lou Rivers, I'm Alexa's mate."

And there it was, the girl gaped in bewilderment. It was an over reaction actually, then shifted her gaze from me to Alexa then back and forth.

When she seemed too shock and could not say her thoughts, Alexa groaned and left the place without a word.

'hmmm'

She sure likes to walk away.

'tsk'

ALEXA ROHAN

I once again walked away.

I can't stand everyone's intent gazes and curiosity.

'ugh'

Of course, they were so keen to know who's my mate as it would surely make a difference in my life.

And Carmen—

Why does she have to be so nosy?

'ugh'

As I walked my way out from everyone, my mate caught up with me.

"Can we talk?"

My brows automatically furrowed, giving her an annoyed look.

"Can we atleast let our wolf see each other?"

"I'm having a hard time controlling mine."

I was about to decline the plea—

'yeah, she sounded pleading'

... but Reika attempted to take over.

~Let me see him~, Reika growled.

I was about to argue but did not when I comprehended something unexpected.

~Him?~

And there I realized that my mate's wolf is a he, a rare occurrence.

"Follow me," I said sternly then took off.

I brought her to my sanctuary, a place in the woods I'm the only one who knew about.

I didn't even realize what I've done until we were already in the place.

'ugh'

~the bond~ , Reika snickered sensing my frustration.

Then taking over me, she intimidatingly stared at our mate.

'gosh'

It was more like an act of flirting— to be honest.

Then I begun to shift, the sound of my cracking bones could be heard along with it. And my breath hitched up to my throat as soon as I stared back at the green orbs of the girl before me.

It felt— I don't know, overwhelming I guess but seemed an understatement to what I was feeling in that moment.

It was a feeling that is so new— to be held in someone's eyes like I am the most beautiful girl that ever lived; to be held in her gaze with so much desire and of purity, so genuine.

~Now shift~, Reika mind linked our mate but she did not. She moved closer instead and caressed our fluffy fur.

"What's your name?" She asked.

My wolf leaned in to the touched.

~ Reika ~

"A beautiful name," she complimented with a warm smile tugging her lips.

And my stomach again flipped.

'ugh'

"My wolf is Addi," she said, moved back then begun shifting.

And I was stunned as well as my wolf at the sight before us.

There stood a proud wolf with ash gray fur and green forest eyes.

'Addi'

He isn't small but the size of mine.

Reika, me— who is bigger than normal werewolves.

How come?

Then with graceful stride, the gray wolf walked towards us. The sound of dried leaves crunched under its paws.

Addi stopped a ruler from us. The pool of his eyes were dazzling as it stared lovingly straight in mine.

~I am your mate as you are mine,~ he spoke through the link.

~I swear by my honor — ~

~... to protect you with all my might,~

~... to love and cherish,~

~... to put you above anything else as you are my life,~

~... and to live without you is a life I rather live not.~

'holy'

'goddess'

Tears rounded my eyes caused by an unknown feeling; so new to me.

There was also that fluttering feeling in my stomach and in my heart.

And the most unexpected happen, Addi crouched down on the ground.

The act warmed my heart—

Reika, nudged Addi to stand up and when he did, she lapped a good lick unto his muzzle.

'what the—'

~Reika!~

And my wolf just sassily shrugged.

'ugh'
