5 Chapter 5

'Are you nervous?'

'No.' She answers knowing he will not buy it.

He takes her by the hand and leads her she follows. He pauses and turns.

'Do you trust me?' He asks. She nods. He was shocked to see how she trusts him without knowing anything about him. He leads her holding her hand she follows. He takes her to a place where you can see the fountain from where they were. There was a big tree near them. He walks towards it holding her hand. He slams her on the tree and starts to kiss her. She kisses him back no word, no nothing.

He pulls his head back with a smile on his face looking down. 'Sam.' He introduces himself. He looks at her. She smiles.

'Jen.'

'Where did you go?' Tonny wakes her up. For a second Jen thought it was happening at that right moment.

'For how long has it been going on?' Tonny asks.

'About a month. We meet every weekend and sometimes on school days.' Tonny couldnot believe what she heard. She has been with her the whole time but she didnot see what was going on. She was amazed as she realized the saying of how the eye couldnot see the nose though very close to it. How well could you really know someone and their actions? She questions herself.

'When are they coming to ask for your hand?' Jen asks knowing Tonny was next in line.

'Father didnot tell me. But maybe tomorrow, or after.' She lies on her back from where she was sitting.

'Do you think we will be happy?' Jen asks. Tonny gazes away with a face showing uncertainty. As they both sat with a moment of silence Jen suddenly got up

'I have to see him!!'

'Are you crazy? Its pass 10, it is late.' Tonnny argued but that didnot stop Jen. She put on her shoes. Tonny knew Jen was always stuborn but for once she thought she might listen. She knew she couldnot stop her so she decided to follow her. They both put on jacket and a blanket. Tonny gets a flash light and both walk out.

'Did you get the keys?' Jen asked. Tonny nods yes. They both walked into the darkness to find Jens love.

'Where will we find him?' Tonny asks.

'I know his home.' Tonny turns with confusion.

'You have been to his house?'

'No no ..he showed me from distance.' Jen came her down. They walked for a long while.

'We are almost there.' Jen speaks. The cold was unbarrable. The sounds of wild creatures were very scary made them feel like they were out there to get them. They reached the house.

'Is this it?' Tonny asks. Jen nods yes. She continues 'he is probably sleeping! We should go back. Let us not wake him up.' Tonny naggs.

'It is ok. I will get in through the window. Let's go around.' Jen walks around the house, Tonny follows.

'The window is open.' Jen slowly crawls in.

'I will wait for you here.' Tonny stands by the window. Jen enters the house. She was thinking of how glad he would be when he sees her as he always told her how much he adores her. She hears a sound as she walks slowly out of the kitchen and into the next room. The sound was very near. It was a sound of moaning. A women made that sound. Jen was confused, her whole body shivered with shock. The women screams out the name Tom. For a minute she thought she was going to hava a heart attack thinking sam was in that room. But she breaths having heard a different name. She pulls herself together and slowly bends down to see who it was through the key hole. Was not very clear but she tried harder. She falls back on her back. She couldnot believe what she saw. She denies and back up she looks again. She tries to focus. Although it was hard to identify him at first as they switched positon, as she bends down him knealing down his face was very visible. It was him. It was sam. Jen couldnot control herself. She panicked. Her whole body couldnot control herself. She opened the door. Sam looked at her. She stares at him and runs back. He didnot follow her.

Without her awareness her tears dropped down her face that woke her up from the past as she picks up her hand to dry it.

The kind women pets her hands and asked.

'Is he the reason you left?'

'Yes. In our village the girl and also boy must be virgins before marriage. If not they will return to their families and bring shame upon them. I couldnot let that happen so the exact night I found out he was married I left my village for good. ' Jen pulled herself together.

'But how did you know he was married?'

'I saw the ring of his finger. He always took it off when we met but he had it on that night. O and his real name was Thomson not Sam.' Jen laughs at herself for being so stupid having bought all his lies.

'I ruined my whole life. I left my education, my family, friends. I left everything for a boy.' Jen gazes away with disapointment filled in her eyes. The kind women get up from where she was sitting and moves towards her. She hugs her. She hugs her tight.

'I am Kassy.' Jen smiles feelimg comfort from the hug.

'I am Jen.'

'Just Jen?'

'Just Jen.'

The wind got louder and rain got stronger. Jen couldnot walk longer. she found a corner with shade and sat by. The rain it rains, Jen wishs it could wash the pain away. She dreams it would bring ever lasting love.A love so pure and honest it will never fled away. Colors so bright you feel blessed and alive. So Jen seat by the corner waiting for the miracle to happen from the raining rain.

The hills she was on killed her feet. The black gown didnot protect her from the cold. She cried. She wishes she didnot lie and wished she told him all from the start of who Jen really was. Maybe if she had done that, then maybe she wouldnot be in the situation she is in right now. The night was very silent. Jen got scared. She wraped her hands around her legs as she brought her legs near her chest. She looks into the rain as she felt like she was looking at the reflection of her tears.

Jen woke up from her so called sleep as she felt something touch her.

'We don't show up for a day and now you think you can take our home? Ha?!' A drunk man talks standing infront of Jen. She stood straight from where she was. It was morning. She was confused.

'Why don't you answer me?' Jen walks away from him. But she doesnot know where she is. She looks around and noone was around. She didnot want to go back to the drunk but she had to as she had no clue of where she is. She turns and asks.

'Where is this place?' The drunk man laughs, he laughs so hard like Jen was a standup comedian and was dressed for the part. Her messy hair, her ruined lipstick could be spoted from distance.

'Why are you laughing?' Jen asks with anger.

'You are funny.' He replied with laughter caughtup on his throat. Jen knew she couldnot get anything series out of this man. She hears a sound of a car from behind she turns and waves her hands. The car stops. She runs to it and gets in.

' Thank you very much for stopping.' It was an old man by the drivers seat. With just a nod of a greeting he drives. Jen laid back and got comfortable. Not a word out of the driver that was kind enough to give her a ride.

'You can drop me off here.' Jen tells the old man as she recognizes the street. She got off after showing gratitude with words and walked home. Jen opens her door and walks in. She slams the door behind her and walks straight to the bathroom. She takes off her cloth and takes a shower. She cries in the shower with hopes it will wash the pain away. Hoping it will bring cure. She hears the door knock. She closes the shower to make sure. The knock got louder. She takes a rob and walks out of the shower to open.

It was Rob by the door. Jen froze as she saw him. He walked in with out invitation. She closed the door and followed him in. He sat and looked at her waiting for her to sit as it feels they were going to have a serious talk. Jen sat.

'I am waiting.' Rob spoke. Jen knew exactly what Rob meant. He was talking about last night and why she left him there. But she stood silent. She felt like her tounge was playing games with her as it slept.

'I am waiting for an explanation.' Rob hit the glass table that was infront of him. Jen was shoked as she never has seen him this way. He looks like he has been drinking all night and not a single sleep has pass by him.

'Come down.'

'Don't tell me to come down!' He yells. Jen bow her head and let her tears fall. As he saw her cry he stood and walked towards her. He takes his hands and places it on her face to lift it up.

'Is it that you don't love me?' His tears droped. Jen looks into his eyes. She couldnot believe he was crying as she never saw him cry.

'No no...' she approachs him. It was like a reflect action as she saw his tears drop.

'What was it then? Ha?' He yells pushing her away with his voice. he continues.' Is there another man in your life?' He dryes his tears up looking into her eyes.

'No.' Jen replies.

'Do you love me?' Jen nodes yes with mixed emotions.

'Then why will not marry me and be mine?' He asks holding her face by his two hands. He looks at her and gives her a kiss.

'Why?' He kisses her again. She holds back. He untie the rob she was wearing leaving her naked. He stops kissing her and sits at the chair placed right infront of her. He wipes his face trying to pull himself together. He stares at her body, her perfectly scalpted shape. He bits his lips. Jen stood there to see what he is going to do.

He walks towards her and puts back her rob.

'Sit down. And tell me everything.'

He demands sitting down infront of her.

'Everything?' Jen hesitated.

'Every little thing?' He made certain. She takes a deep breath and began her story as she lied to him about all. She opens her lips to talk but again feared. Fear of losing him once he knew the truth. But then again she thought she will lose him despite. So she began.

'Kassy is not my cousin. We can start there.' Jen began clearing her lies.

'Ok.' Rob wasnot surprised.

'She is my not related to me and she didnot bring me here from my family so I can get better education. She is a women who helped me survive as I nearly died after having runaway from my family.' Jen takes a deep breath. Rob rubs his beard. Jen continued.

'I run away from my family because I was inlove with a man. I was stupid and young. He made me believe he loved me and we will be together forever.' Jen pauses to take a moment Rob was listening attentively.

'But then I found out he was married the hard way. In our tradition a women will never marry if deflowered before marriage, if so the family would be discriminated from society. I couldnot let that happen to my family so I left. I left with nothing. No goodbyes no kiss from my family.' Jens tears found a way out once again. She wiped them with her fingers. She takes a deep breath and continues.

'As I came here I knew nothing of the place. I took the bus that led me here from the money I had on my pocket for emergency purpose. I spent some hard days but then Kassy found me and took me in. She took care of me.' Jen explaining her past made her go back in time.

Jen helped kassy around her house the first couple of weeks she found her. She cooked, she cleaned, she did her laundries she did everything around the house.

One Tuesday morning as Jen was about to proceed with her normal routine a mail slides down the door. Jen picks it up. It had a big red mark written final notice. As Jen was wondering if she could open it Kassy walks in.

'Good morning.' Jen greeted. Kassy gives her a nod. She looks tired. She sees the mail Jen held on her hand.

'What is that?' Jen hands it over. Kassy rolls her neck with exhaustion. And walks towards the sofa. Jen follows her feet with her eyes as kassy forgot to take of her shoes.

'What is it?' Jen asks.

'Didnot pay three months rent. Now if I don't pay at the end of the month they are kicking me out!' Kassy explains and leans back with stress. Jen thinks for a minute. She gets up to get her coffee. She hands it to her.

'Thanks.' Kassy took the coffee.

'You want to eat?' Jen asks. Kassy looks over at the kitchen and scrolls her eyes back to Jen.

'How can I not eat? I love your cooking!' Kassy gets up heading to the kitchen. Jen follows with a smile. That is when it hits her.

'Why don't I sell food?' Kassy looks at her confused. Jen elaborates.

'I will cook easily made foods here and sell it at night. That way the girls could eat with cheaper price and we could also take orders. We can start small. This way maybe we could pay for the rent.' Jen rests her case. Kassy looked like she agrees but again she thought.

'I don't know. We will think about it.' Kassy responds. Jen smiles. After eating Kassy as always goes to her room to sleep, as for their job the night is day and day is night.*
