3 Chapter 3

He was still on his knee, as she travels back in time. He repeats the question.

'Jen. Say you will. Will you marry me?' The look he was giving her was a look noone can refuse to, not even a complete stranger nevertheless a lover. Jen stood up from her chair and stood still and with out a second look she walks out.

'Where are you going?' Rob asks with confusion and disapointment turning his head to face her from where he was kneeling. Jen stood with her back facing him.

'I can not do this to you. I have lied to you. There is a lot you do not know. You are a good man. I just can not!' Her tears runs down her cheeks. She walks out with out a second look. She left him there with the ring on his finger and with a blue face.

Jen walks out into the streets with out even knowing where she is. All she wanted was to leave that place. If only she was who she said she was. That way only that way 'yes' would have been the answer to Rob's question. The rains falls uninvited without a warning but didnot surprise Jen as she continues her walk. She thought of her life. She thought of her future. She thought of herself.

Four years earlier,

It was very challenging for a rular young girl to easily adopt to the city life. Everything is different in the city. Especially with no money, no friends, no family, noone you know, can simply set it as a version of hell on earth. She feels as if it was the right and only decision having left her home yet again the city frightens her.

At exactly 12:00am people all over the streets can be seen. Mostly proffesional kinds. The men choose to wear suit often and women also suit. Students wearing uniforms. And some people wear normal shirt with jeans but in small range. This come and go between people on streets lasts upto 2:00pm mostly. Then the other part ofthe street awakes. These people choose to wear clothes that expose their body parts. Dominantly women are seen but some men are also there on some corners of it. Jen a poor country girl was there sitting on the corner observing. She has been for two days as she had nowhere to go or had nothing to eat. It was like she was wating for death to come take her. She sat by the corner she has been sitting since she arrived. Her vision was starting to get blurry. She passed out where she sat.

Jen opens her eyes, she sees the ceiling. She blinks faster to focus her vision. She tries to get up but her head hurts.

'Stay there. You should rest.' A womens voice comes to her direction. She opens her eyes wide to identify her identity, she does not know her. The women was wearing a white top with nothing under except her undergarment. But atleast her top was long to cover it up. Her hair was blond and very short. But her smile very was nice. It gave Jen a warm welcome. She comes near Jen with a plate on her hands and gives it to her.

'Eat. You must be hungry.' Jen slowly adjust her position and takes the food. Without a word she starts to eat. Anyone could tell how hungry she was by the way she was eating. She cleaned up her plate very well and drunk a glass of water that was placed on the table next to her.

'Thank you.' She puts down the plate.

'How did I end up here?' Jen asks with curiousity.

'You passed out on the road. I brought you here.'

'Thank you very much. I donot know how to repay you.' Jen bends her head to rest on the sofa as she couldnot hold it.

'Let me give you some medicine to ease your pain.' She gets up and walks to the kitchen. She comes back with them and hands it to Jen. Jen didnot think twice, she took the medicine and got comfortable.

'You should rest. I am going to sleep myself. We will talk later.' Jen felt really happy. For a second she thought there was no longer hope for her existance and now she is very well. 'God is a miracle.' She smiles and slept by.

3:00pm

Jen was in dream land when the women came to wake her up. She was all dressed up and smelled nice. She was wearing a dress with stocking with hills. The dress she had on exposed her boobs making it seem like it was done intentionally. Her red lipstick complimented her blond hair and black eyes. Jen opens her eyes.

'Hey.' She smiles at Jen.

'Am going out. You can stay here if you like and we will talk when I come back.' Jen nodes and so the women left. Jen felt so much better as she woke up. She sits up for a second and looks around the house. She didnot have a watch on her hand but it was dark. She guessed the women would be one of the people that worked at night on the streets. But that did not bother her. She gets up and goes to the bathroom. She sits on the toilet and looks around. The bathroom needed a lot of cleaning. She gets up after finishing and decides to clean the house for her. It was the least she could do to repay her kindness. So she started cleaning. She cleaned the house upside down. She cleaned the three blue sofa she had. She cleaned the mattress. She cleaned the kitchen facing the livingroom. She cleaned the bathroom. She cleaned everthing except the one room that was locked. Jen thought it would be her bed room so she left it be. Without knowing it, time flew by and it was day time. Jen prepared coffee. She found eggs in the fridge so she made eggs for breakfast. As she was cooking the women walks in.

'What is that wonderful smell?'

'Take off your shoe.'Jen ordered. The women did although she was confused Jen ordered as if it was her house having spent a night over. But then she came in and saw how well she cleaned the house. She was amused.

'Forgot how bright the house was.' The women compliments looking at the windows curtain opened wide.

'Come sit. I am making eggs.' Jen invited. The woman sat. Jen served the coffee first. The women pick up to drink. She takes a sip. Her eyes spoke before her lips.

'O my God. This is amazing.' She takes another one. Jen serves the eggs. And just as her coffee her food was also amazing. After taking a bit the women speaks

'You have been up all night cleaning. haven't you?' Jen nods yes with food in her mouth.

'You are impressive.' She continues eating. They both cleaned up there plates.

'Thank you so much.' The women continues. 'So what is your story? How did you end up on the streets?' This question got Jen emotional but she pulled herself together and told her everything.

March 12

It was the next day Jen met that young man by the river. The young man with light brown eyes. That man that made the sky smile. The man that saved her life that day, when she thought she was about to die from the pain on her ankle. No address, no way of seeing him again.

'How will I see him again?' Jen chunters. She thought of him. She thought of he scent, she inhales in closing her eyes. She thought of his kiss, her lips unmet. She thought of his touch and her whole body shivered.

'Jen! Are you ok?' Jen's mother yells from behind as she saw Jen shiver with her eyes closed. Jen turns in shock.

'Yes mother.'

'Come on then. Give me a hand in the kitchen.' Jen tries to shake off her thoughts and join her mother in the kitchen to prepare dinner. Jen loved cooking. She would always cook for her family with her mother and aunt( her mothers sister). But her aunt wasnot feeling well so she didnot join them in the kitchen, she was resting. Jen's mother was making soup for her.

'Take this to Ami.' Her mother ordered Jen handing her the soup. 'You could walk and give it to me.' Amanda speaks from where she was resting. They all laugh. Jen takes the soup and takes three steps towards Amanda and hands it to her. The kitchen and bedroom are all in one room. It is not big but it is enough. Jen walks back to her mother to help her prepare dinner but tonny came.

'Good evening Mrs. James.' Tonny forwarded greeting. Jen'd mother smiles and greeted back.

'Can Jen help me my assignment?' Tonny requested. She knew she wouldn't say no with something school related, as her attitude towards education is very high. She quotes 'Education is a key to success.' She always tells them to study hard and be successful, and that way and only that way will she ever be proud of them.

'Ok. But be back soon.' Jen and tonny walked out to go to tonny's home. Tonny's lives with her father. She takes care of him as he did his whole life. Her mother passed away whilr giving birth to her. She always wished she knew how it felt like to have a mother. Jen's mother always treated her as if she was her own daughter, and that built a strong bond between the two like sisters.

'What assignment?' Jen asks as they got in.

'Tell what happened yesterday!!' Tonny started her question before sitting down. Jen bursted with joy. She sat down and so did tonny. Jen gazzed away without a word.

'I am waiting. What happened after we left you there??'

'We kissed.'
