1 Chapter 1

There was no one in the streets except the old newspapers that came to visit once in a while. It was pass midnight. The wind blows so fast it feels like it is chasing the rain away little did it know it was blowing her dress away. A dress so glamorous she bought for this amazing night. A night so amazing she thought would have never ended this way. The hills she was wearing were so high she could barely walk. Her hair so messed up, kept on covering her eyes blocking her vision. ‘stupid wind' she mumbles. Her tears running down her checks ruined her makeup. A makeup she wasted hours and hours on to accomplish perfection.

She turns as she hears the sound of a car approaching her. Some sort of delight could be seen in her eyes. She waves with hopes the driver might stop and gives her a ride home. Home, a place where she feels she belongs. But what an unlucky day for her, the driver drives by her without even noticing her existence. She felt sad. She felt unhappy. She felt unfortunate. She continued walking. She takes off her hills and continues walking.

Earlier this day

The alarm rings, but Jen was awake way before the time approached. She got off bed. Heading to the shower. She turns on the warm water. She takes a deep breath as she wants everything to be perfect this day. Slowly she pulls the shower curtains to the side and let her slender table legs into the tub. She sits and leans her back to relax her shoulders. She was singing along with the music she opened just as she got off of bed. Celine Dion’s song (when I need you.) came up, her favourite. Jen closes her eyes and deep into the tub she swims into memory land.

When I need you just close my eyes and am with you and all that I so want to give you babe it's only a heartbeat away.... Celine Dion took her away into the place where she once was. A place she felt that heaven in earth was possible. That life made sense and we do belong to someone.

Nov, 24

If her parents hadn't sent her to fetch water from the river maybe then this day would have never happened. It was bright sunny day as Jen was sent to fetch water for there was lack of water in the area she lived with her parents. The distance from her home to the river is very long so people of the village choose to go together. Jen along with her neighbours/ friends (since they all grew up together) all started their journey. They are four in total. Kam, Tony, Yard and Jen. Making their way down the hill to fetch water Kam spoke

'I am so tired of this. I want to be like the city girls. Do nothing.'

Yard followed.

'You are so right. We deserve that life too.'

' why can't you learn to appreciate? We are healthy we have a good family we have each other are we not blessed?' As Tony spoke both stopped to talk.

'She is right. Something better is waiting for us but for now this is all we have. So let's learn to appreciate.' Jen concluded.

As talking about this and that they have reached their destination. They did not take much time to fill in the water but as Jen was about to pick up her pot her leg bended pressing all her body weight on it. She screamed without knowing. All three gathered around and laid her on the ground. They couldn’t touch her as the pain was severe. They looked around searching for help as they saw this young man approaching them.

'What is wrong?' He asks having found yard half way.

'Please help us if you can. Our friend is in pain. I think she might have broken a bone.' The young man didn't stand there he rushed toward Jen. Jen was in bad condition. Her leg turned red and she was screaming with tears.

He takes a good look at her leg and runs to go beyond the river without no say. All three were confused. They all had a question of ' he left?' In their minds. Not long he came back running. He brought some leaf with him. He chews the leaf and applies it on her leg, and then he cut his shirt and ties it around the ankle.

'How far is your home?' He asks. 'We are from the kasanchis village.' Kam replies with a humble voice. Without a word out his tongue he pick up Jen and carries her up. Jen stares at him with confusion.

'I will get you home. Ladies let us go.' He starts walking. Jen did not know what to do. Her hands were down in the air. Her neck couldn't move. It was as if the pain never took place as she forgot all about it.

'You can hug me if you want.'

'It is ok.' Jen replied. Jen was uncomfortable but at the same time comfortable as she has never been grabbed or held like this by a man before. She felt her hands turn numb as they were down the whole time. She slowly lifts it up. He looks at her and gives her a smile. She wraps her hands around his neck. She turns back checking up on her friends. They are following. Jen slowly looks up to see what this good hearted man looks like. He has brown beard and hair. Even his eyes are light brown, Jen could see so clear with the reflection of the sun. As her hands wraped tighter around his neck he looks down at her slowing down his speed. She looked straight into his eyes. He was very handsome. He clears his throat and walks faster.

'We could rest if you are tired.' Jen speaks. He looks down at her and smiles. Something about him got Jen hooked. She knew she had to make this day worth to remember.

'I want to rest.' Jen demands.

As all her three friends were about to rest with she continued,

' No no. you all should go. We will follow.'

'But we cannot leave you here.' Tony says with uncertainty.

'You are not leaving me here I will follow you. Just need to rest a bit. And they will be very worried if we all do not make it back in time. At least you can explain.' After a lot of talk Jen won and all three headed to kasanchis village.

He sat beside her. ' What was your reason?'

'What do you mean?' Jen asks.

' Why did you want to stay with a complete stranger?' Jen did not have an answer for this. She stared into his eyes for a second. With the wind bringing his scent and his good looks charmed his way into her. Jen couldn’t describe how or why it happened but it was like numen pushed her towards him to kiss him.

Jen almost drowned in the tub as she traveled through memory land. 'O how big could our brains be!' She thought in wonder. All pictures saves so clear like nothing has changed. All words spoke replied like as if heared at this very moment. Then she comes back to reality and delivers harangue to herself as she thought of all the silly mistakes she made, as memory land switch it's path.

She nodes her head with attention to pull herself together and pull the towel hanging. Walking to the kitchen she makes her coffee just the way she likes it. Jen has always loved coffee. She says coffee was created by the Gods to give us blessings. Although most disagree with such philosophy she always stood by it. Something people find odd when they see Jen drink coffee was her habit of gazing away until she finishes her cup. She says one should never be in a rush when drinking coffee, it helps calm you down and picture how your day will be like. Yet still most disagree but as always she stands by it. Making her way up to her bed room as she finishes her drink, she took in front of the mirror and dropped her towel. She stood there naked for a while staring at herself. She walks closer and sit on the chair placed right in front of the mirror. She pulls her hair down and stares into the mirror, as if she is looking into her soul.

She started to do her makeup. Hours and hours she spent on transforming herself into the queen she wanted. Final touch was her red lip stick. Her fingers holding the tip of the stick to curve the edge of her lips. Done. She finished her makeup as she sat naked. Not even a piece of cloth to cover her up. She looks at herself and smiles. 'Beauty is incredible.' Jen speaks to herself, taking a deep breath. Breathing in and out. She walks to the closet to pick a dress. Her eyes scrolled from left to right in search to find the perfect dress she wanted. She stops at one. A red silky dress, it had a turtle neck and was see through up to her chest. Looked elegant but at the same time graceless. 'Perfect!' Jen smiles. She moves to the other closet where she keeps her gown to find something to put on top. That did not take time to find. She pulls out a black gown. She walks over to her drawers and takes out her under garments. A red very light bikini. Finally she walks to her shoe collection and picks her red high hills.
