1 the bubble

-Year 2070 finally the future has come but not the one everyone expected, no floating houses, no flying cars, well they are floating but not in the air. An enormous flood has happened that the whole world is now under water, some people have died some still live to this day. It's like a flower blossom in Florida, grass is green, bright colors all around except for the valleys. The technology is a lot more advanced now, everyone's houses have a crystal sphere that protects them and also gives them air. And if that doesn't work the government has injected everyone with a power that gives everyone more time to hold their breath, to connect with sea animals, swim faster than usual, I call them redeyes. Almost everyone has been injected but me.

Preparing myself to go to school is kind of nerve racking because I don't know what others are going to think about me. I put on my teal blank shirt with my long jean pants, looking myself in the mirror and giving myself good luck. Looking at the corner of the mirror I have a photo of my mom and dad who both died trying to save me from the flood. I opened my window to sneak out of the house to go to school because I didn't want to talk to my aunt and uncle. I grabbed my scuttle bubble and headed to school.

I went inside the school bubble and parked my scuttle bubble in the parking lot, I turned around and saw Gunther behind me staring at me with his spiky black hair, sazzy eyes, and psycho smile. Gunther is the only kid that bullies me at school and people don't help, they just stare or record him punching and pushing me to the ground. Gunther saw a puddle of mud by my side and pushed me to it. "Hahahaha", he laughed hysterically as I stood up with mud all over me. "Very funny Gunther, now let me go to class," I asked. " Oh I'm not done with you yet, Sunflower.", he laughed, cracking his knuckles and walking towards me. He grabbed my hair and said; "such pretty hair, it'll be bad if someone would have cut it". He grabbed a pair of scissors that he had hidden in his jean pocket.

Right at the moment he was about to cut my hair the principal interrupted. " Gunther stop!" he demanded, "Gunther in my office, now!" he said angrily while pointing to the office. Gunther rolls his eyes and lets go off my hair, I fall to the ground as I see him walking past the principal all annoyed. My first and second period were fine but then I got to the third one. I walk in the classroom and I see Gunther looking like he had another plan under his dark brown hair. "Alex", called the teacher, " you sit next to Gunther'', she said as she was pointing towards my coffin. I sat next to him and said nothing, surprisingly he stayed quiet too. The class has ended and I was suspicious of why Gunther stayed quiet the whole time, not a stare or a finger flick. Then lunch came, we had mashed potato and steak. I sat at my seat alone as always and saw Gunther talking to his friends like nothing ever happened. Minutes past and as I was about to eat my mashed potatoes, a hand pushed my head to the plate. I grabbed the potato off my eyes, saw Gunther laughing, and walking away. I blow my nose and look at him grumpily as if this was never going to happen.

Then the day finally ended and I get to go home, getting my scuttle bubble I saw Gunther next to the school bubble. He was holding a paper and frustrated he crumbled up the paper, threw it to the floor punching the bubble, leaving a mark on it. After he left, I ran to see what was on the paper that got him so angry. They were his school grades all f's and d's, I heard a cracking noise besides me and when I saw that the bubble had a huge crack, I ran to get people out of the school. " Everybody run there's a crack on the bubble!" Everyone looked at me and when they saw behind me the crack was getting bigger by the time, everyone screamed running towards the exit. As soon as we got out the bubble started collapsing and everything inside the school was left floating. We were inside the bus because there was nowhere else to go. I looked at the one who caused all the problem and his eyes had never been so open, It was almost like he had seen a ghost.

When I got home my window was closed which means that my uncle and aunt knew I escaped. When I opened the front door I saw my uncle passed out on the couch and heard the shower was open where my aunt might be. I grabbed some food for the night and sneaked into my bedroom. In the middle of the night I heard a big knock on the door like someone was trying to break it. I ran downstairs as if I was late for something and saw a lot of people in the front yard. I hid on the top of the stairs to see what was going on and one of the people that were outside pulled out an ipad and in that ipad appeared the president. "Hello Adam's Ale ¨, he said as he looked at my uncle and aunt that were as confused as I was. " I would like to make an offer", the president said while smiling, as an evil villain that appears in the movies. " I will give you two a million dollars for your nephew." he smirks while holding the money. " Why would you want our nephew?" my aunt questioned him. The president moved his seat forward, tucked his finger and said with a friendly but sinister smile. ¨there's a way to help everyone breathe underwater and I think I have an idea how your nephew can help." My uncle and aunt looked at each other and before they said a word I ran upstairs because I knew they were going to say yes. I took cloth, a flashlight, the food I saved, and went to my uncle's room and took the keys to the van. I jumped out the window and founded Oval outside. "Oval what are you doing here?" I whispered.

Oval moved back and forth as if she wanted me to follow her. I had no time to get the van so I decided to take it in the morning. I followed Oval and she led me to a tunnel. And inside the tunnel there was a cave filled with other fish, plants and crystals. Oval swam fast to her friends and started fish talking to them. All of them looked directly at me. And I looked back at them with an awkward smile. I started to wander around and saw a pile of seaweed. " I guess I'm staying here". I questioned and answered myself as I put my backpack down. Morning came and I had forgotten where I was, away from home, people were after me, thank god Oval is with m- "Oval?" I looked around trying to find Oval and I couldn't find them anywhere. I grabbed my bag and went outside, the light of the sun almost blinded me, so I put my hand up next to my eyebrows and started walking.

Finally got home and sneaked into the van and drove away. While I was driving I saw Gunther on the sidewalk, I pulled up beside him and pulled him inside and drove away. Confused, Gunther screamed "What the?!" I looked back at him and nervously said "do you know my name and who I am?" Gunther looked at me even more confused and responded like I was someone different "Ah yeah?" he went up to the passenger seat and asked " Are you good? Why are we going so fast!" I looked at Gunther rapidly and looked back to the road, "I got people trying to find me who want to kill me," "What?" he laughed nervously. A bunch of people came to my house last night and said that the only way to help people breathe underwater is to kill me, but I don't think that's true," He looked at me trying to understand what I just said. " So you're saying there's more?" we got to the library and started looking for a book called the elements. " Here I found it," I exclaimed. "So what are we looking for?" asked Gunther. " One day I was reading this book and found something called the under tree, aha!" " The under tree is an air element but is hidden underwater, many people have tried to find the under tree but failed and died on the journey." "eeehhh, blah blah blah, here!" " It says that the first clue that explorers found to find the under tree was hidden in the solo mountain.¨

We got the book and headed to the gas station because we're out of gas. "You got money?" Gunther exclaimed. "Yeah I got 20 dollars." I responded. We grabbed some snacks and headed to our destination, solo mountain. It was a long ride but we got into a deep and stretchy ravine. " Ugh what now," sighed Gunther. I looked around to see if I could find anything that could help us cross the ravine. " Over there," I said while pointing to a big log. We ran to the log and Gunther questioned "How do you think we can move this thing, it's massive". I stopped and thought for a second. " Hey you can communicate with fish, call Oval". Gunther looked at me with a puzzled look. " who?". I sighed and rolled my eyes. ¨My best friend, she's a fish." Gunther looked at me weirdly and said, ¨Ok?" Then he looked away at the distance and nothing happened. " Where is she?" I asked. " Hold on, it takes time for them to come here". I couldn't hear anything but water flow. Then a couple of seconds later I heard Oval's bubble talk. I looked back and saw Oval. "Oval" I screamed and hugged them, "Oval we need your help to move this log. " How is this little fish going to move this massive log?" grumbled Gunther. " With teamwork." I confidently responded. Gunther looked at me like he couldn't understand a word I said.

Then Gunther saw a shadow behind him and when he turned around there were a lot of fish coming to help us. We all pushed the log and pushed it to the ravine to make it a bridge. I thanked the fish and Gunther gave them a little ¨hmm.¨ I gave him an elbow punch, he looked at me with a serious face, looked back at the fish and with a mumble said, "Thank you for helping us". The fish swam away and Oval stayed. They wanted to come with us, "Oval it's going to be dangerous out there are you sure you want to come?" I asked. Oval looked at me with her derpy eyes and bops a bubble. "That's a yes to me." Gunther said as he walked to the van.

We kept riding and got to the solo mountain "Let's go," Gunther excitedly said. On halfway up the van stopped moving " What happened?" I questioned. "Look," Gunther said while looking outside, "The tire is flat". I threw out a big sigh, " I guess we have to walk", Oval bops another bubble and swims away. "Oval wait for us", I screamed as I grabbed the supplies. "Gunther, let's go!" I shouted. "Coming" he moans. We followed Oval to the top of the mountain and there was nothing. "what" I screamed. " We came all this way for nothing". Gunther looks around while I sit in frustration. Gunther looks at a mark that's on the floor, ¨what's this?" He asked as he pointed at the mark. I raise my head and breathe. "What?" I said as I walked towards him. It looked like part of something but the sand was covering it.

"Quickly remove the sand." I told all of them. Gunther scrubbed with his hands, I scrubbed with a little broom that I brought with me, and Oval scrubbed with her fins. When all the sand was uncovered it was a symbol with words on it, " Mondo sott'acqua," I whispered. The ground started to shake and the symbol was a door that opened and inside there was a dip hole with a light at the end. "Jump", said Gunther. "What?" I directly answered back. "Come on, if you do it i'll do it", he said calmly. Is he a psycho? I said loudly, "are you crazy im not jumping down there i don't know what's waiting for me there". " We came here and had not found any adventure yet, come on jump in!", he screamed back. "Gunther im only 15 im not going to die right now-". He grabbed my arm and pushed me down the hole." AAAAAHHHHH ¨I felt like I was gone already, but a bubble caught me and made me fall slowly. The bubble popped when it touched the ground ¨oof¨, the grass was soft as sea algae and green as green lantern. Gunther fell slowly on a bubble and Oval swam down.

We all looked around and it was beautiful. Colorful flowers everywhere, there were animals flying in the air, water falls, and the under tree was in a little island surrounded by what looked like a Lake that reflected the night sky. "Woah," we were all astounded. We all walked towards the tree and looked at the tree and looked at the lake. "How are we now going to get over there?" Gunther utter. I touched the water with my fingertips, a white and gold bridge reflected on the water. " Look!¨, Gunther screamed. The exact same bridge that was on the water appeared on the grass. " How did you do that?'', questioned Gunther. I was confused and responded ¨ I just thought of a bridge and it appeared¨. Gunther lowered his eyebrows and walked to the tree, ¨ So what now?¨ asked Gunther. I looked around and saw a fruit up in the tree. ¨Up there¨ I said pointing to the fruit. ¨ what is it?¨ Gunther questioned. ¨ I don't know i've never seen a fruit like that before, and I don't see anything like that in the book ¨. Oval flew up and got the fruit. ¨ should we eat it?¨ Gunther whispered. I look back at him with squinted eyes¨ I really don't think that's a good ide-¨, Oval rapidly ate the fruit before I gave a reason why we shouldn't eat it. The only thing she left was the seed. ¨ isn't that the seed we needed?¨ Gunther asked me. ¨It is¨ i admayerly said. ¨ok let's go then¨. Gunther ran. ¨How are we going to get up there now?¨ Gunther wined. I looked back at the tree and went down to get a little bit of the universe's water. I wished for a water elevator and sprayed the water all over the floor. ¨Run to the water¨ i screamed. We stood on the water and little bubbles quickly floated us to the top of the mountain.

¨Wow that was fast¨ a girl's voice said. Gunther and I looked slowly to Oval like she farted or something. ¨What?¨ Oval questioned. I jumped back and Gunther's jaw broke from slapping to the floor so hard. ¨Oval?¨ I asked her nervously,¨You can talk?¨ I pointed to her shaking as crazy.¨I can?¨ she asked as if she didn't know what just happened.¨Oh my god i can talk¨ she gasped. The day was getting dark and red lights approached from a distance. ¨What's that?¨ I nervously asked. I Squinted my eyes and saw a lot of people. ¨Those are the people from the town¨ I screamed.¨ let's get out of here¨ Dunther ran. I look back at the people and I see a big figure behind them. ¨Gunther stop¨ I begged. Gunther stopped and looked back at me, I pointed to the figure and we saw a giant cannon pointing right at us. ¨Run!¨ Gunther panicked. ¨Wait what about the mountain¨ Isaid. Gunther looked at me worried and looked at Oval with an idea. ¨Ok, Oval get all the animals out of there¨ He stuttered. ¨Alex and I will try our best to stop everyone¨. ¨OK¨ we all prepared. We ran down the mountain and Oval got the animals out. When we got down the town people started running to us. ¨ what do we do?¨ asked Gunther. I tried looking around to see if I found anything and I found nothing. A big hologram of the president appeared up in the crowd.

¨Congrats Adam's ale, you get to save all of the world, any last words you like to say?¨ He smiles. I trembled and my heart started to get heavy, I felt like this was my real end of the story. But Gunther looked at me and held my hand, ¨ I have learned today that it doesn't matter the destination but the journey and people you're with¨. I looked at Gunther with a smile,¨Irather die knowing i did something exciting with people i care for than stay and do nothing with no one¨ i exclaimed. The president lowered his eyebrows and said sarcastically,¨wow, beautiful¨. Gunther turned me around to him and kissed me. His strong hands around my head and his lips were soft as a pillow. I kissed him back and hugged him. ¨Eugh¨ the president disgusted, ¨ now i have a reason to kill you both¨. Oval came down to us and asked. ¨I finished my job, what did I miss?¨. She looks infront of her and sees the crowd.¨oh¨. ¨Fire!¨ screams the president. As they were going to light the cannon the ground started to tremble.

The ground started to open and a big sea dragon came out of the crack. ¨Fire!" repeated the president. A big red ball came out of the cannon to the mountain. The dragon swam to the crowd and destroyed the cannon. The ball was going directly to the mountain and i didnt know what to do so I threw the under tree seed at it. The seed lighted up a light yellow and an angel appeared. She puts her arms in front of her to stop the ball and the ball bounces off her hands and explodes in a far place. The angel came up to the president's hologram and touches it. The president then starts to lose air, the hologram and the angel disappear. The bright red on the people's eyes disappeared and they dropped their weapons. When the angel disappeared it gave everyone the ability to breathe underwater. The dragon gave us another under sea seed to plant it and we all went back to the town.
