37 Chapter Thirty-Seven

We sat in silence for a while after that. All questions had died on my tongue. He burned the whole village. He killed everyone. How could he do that with no consequences? With no remorse? I mean, they had hurt me and I wanted to see them pay for what they'd done. But that was too extreme. No one deserved that kind of fate. 

Marcel tried to make conversation a few times as we continued along the path, but I ignored each attempt. This was all becoming too much. The answers they were giving only seeded more questions. After a few more hours of travel, the sun had risen over the trees. I looked out of the wagon to see that the trees and underbrush were beginning to thin out. We must be near the edge of the Forsaken Forest.
