15 fifteenth piece of the broken cage: the devil within

The weather seemed to be joking with them.  First, there was snow and now there was a wind too ?!

Julia pulled her hood collar up to her nose to keep the freezing air from hitting her skin.

Diana was still out cold. Whatever Jay had done to her was still working and Diana was peacefully sleeping on her back. 

Julia gathered all the strength she could master and take another step on the white road before finally collapsing to the ground.

Diana hit the floor with her as her brown hair painted the white ground.

Julia moved towards her to take her body in her arms to cover her form. The street was mostly deserted as no one in their right mind would dare come out in this weather. 

Except for them and the BH ...

Their names send shivers down her back and not just from cold ... Fear was wresting at her heart.

The snow was sitting on top of the red vessels as they disappeared from human eyes ..... So no getting warm... Or maybe there would still be some warmth in them.

She bit her lips as she took Diana by her limp arms and dragged her to the nearest vessel. She pushed the snow away with her shaking red hands and pressed her naked palms flat against the huge vein .... No warmth ... It was limp and blood was no longer floating through it. It was as black as coals.

Her heart dropped...

Adrian!

Her lips were slowly turning blue from the extreme coldness of the air and as the wind took another turn, she could feel her heartbeat coming down ....black spots danced in her vision.   ...

" B_but....A_adrian..."

Tia pulled the knife out of another BH soldier and turned around as fast as she could to take down another one that had sneaked up behind her with flashing guns.

She punched the woman in her ribs and tangled her hand in her hair before tugging her head back then pushing the knife in her abdomen as deep as it could go. She left her in the snow, she then glanced up towards Scarlet.

Her hair was as always neatly in a style. The rosy dress she was wearing hugging her body in those long strands. Scarlet was standing like the wind of the snow wasn't bothering her at all.

Scarlet looked away from her to star straight ahead ....then she let a smirking wink at her red lips.

Tia's heart was pounding as she looked over at the place she had her eyes on.

Tia fisted the knife in her hand ....he wouldn't make it. ..

Jay had at least twenty men four times his small size that was shooting or attacking with all force to him ... He was holding on though.

His bat was broken to pieces and he was left with only his hands ...she was about to run to help him when some of those same men blocked her way and fired their guns at her.

She had no time to judge but to put the nearest man in front of her. The bullets hit him on his chest as his bloody form slid to the hard ground.

Wind buzzed at her ear as she glanced at Jay again. His fist connected to one of the soldier's face as he gracefully jumped on top of the body to kick another one right on their crouch.

Tia settled down on her army to fight with.

They had hidden behind the trashcan as much as they could but eventually, they were found and shoved to the battlefield.

Scarlet hadn't uttered a single word and had just seen them struggle to stay on their grounds to keep their heads on their necks. 

She finally stood up ...the swishing of her gown making shivers go in an unsettling pace around her body.

Soldiers helped her down to the ground and as her feet touched the snow-covered earth, the ice froze on the air. Bundles of ice were resting on the sky and with a flip of her fingers, they crushed the ground. Soldiers backed away from the cracks but some of them fell to the depths of the no longer ground. 

Jay struggled to keep his balance under control but it was getting harder as the snow on the air attacked the very being of him.

Tia tried to keep her feet on the earth but as Scarlet made a fist with her long fingers, cold old ice settled on her skin and the freezing tips of them pierce her already bleeding flesh.

She hissed as they dug deeper into her body but Tia stubbornly didn't let go of her knife as she clenched her fist around the iron handle.

Scarlet titled her head to the left as if absorbing her reactions. She smirked and looked over at her soldiers.

" I expect her headless body to be presented to her majesty .... And lock that traitor, make sure he is locked completely. "

Scarlet flipped her hand one more time making the ices turn into glasses as they dug in her skin and disappear in them ....but they had not melted

Tia could keep a track of her pain as the glasses rubbed against her organs...she looked over to find Jay but he was nowhere to be seen. ..

Soldiers were closing in, around her, and finally, Tia could no longer hold the pain in as a scream tore her throat open.

Scarlet smirked as she turned to leave.

"  Hey Scarlet! Watch it! "

A line of light broke through the road and landed right before Scarlet's feet.

Tia snapped her bowed head in Jay's direction. Every single vein in his body had turned blue.  There was blood coming from his ears and eyes and he winced as glasses of ice tor even more into him. Tia dragged her eyes towards Scarlet.

The woman had turned around and was walking lazily to the middle of the street. Every soldier moved out of her way as her high heeled feet broke the snow away and brought the actual road to her.

" I almost forgot you have the balls to do anything.  "

" Breaking your jaw included. "

The smirk on her face fell. Her black eyebrows knitted together as she made a ball gesture with her fingers. Snow rose from the ground and formed like swords around her. They slowly turned into broke glasses, ready to shoot at Jay.

" Gifted against Gifted it is. "

Jay with his damaged state cracked his knuckles and let lightning dance between his fingers. The black fire was blowing from the center of his palms ...

Tia could feel the fear every BH soldier was feeling as she slowly took her broken body into the hold as she moved little by little to the hiding corner to kneel on the snow-covered ground.

Jay couldn't use much of his powers before he was completely drained. But Scarlet wasn't anywhere near tired and she could go for hours and hours, using every bit of her abilities. 

But there had to be a way to get the woman down so that they could have some time to leave ....to run ...she took a deep breath and placed her bleeding, bruised hands on the ground to get all the information she needed.

Outside of her corner ...lightning cracked the ground as the clash of breaking glass ran down the sides...

Clark turned to the corner, his eyes were spinning to the streets as they finally fell over two limp figures that were crouched on the snowy road.

He stopped the car and jumped out of it His heart pounding by miles as he ran on the slippery street before reaching the people and kneeling beside them. His heart skipped a beat as he recognized the two girls.

" Oh no ....nono no nono...wake up.....now ...oh sweet Jesus Christ ! "

He padded Julia's cold cheeks but the green-haired girl gave no response. He looked over at Diana but her chest fell and rose on a steady rhythm that was not normal for a sleeping person..... just what the fuck did Jay do ?!

He pressed his lips together as he got both girls in his arms at once and stood up as fast as he could .....

The wind was getting harder ...

Tia was panting as cold air left her dry lips.  The snowy wind was making it harder to see the breezing noises were singing the lullaby of death

Scarlet was the queen's younger sister who barely visited her older sibling but whenever she did come ...it was an execution for Gifteds

The Black Hunters were Under her very commend.

Queen upon going to her throne had declared that she was no Gifted and as a human, she had seen fit in the Gifted population because according to her, eighty percent of the population was a lot and was nowhere near fair ... Unlike naive people, Tia and the gang knew from the beginning... She was one of the most powerful Gifteds on the planet and her sister was also one of these kinds.

The liar Queen broke her promises as if they were nothing but some glass meant to be broken ...

She sure would want Jay's head now ... Meanwhile that Scarlet was busy making up a storm Tia had been killing her so-called soldiers one by one ... Drawing Their blood as their scream was silenced by the howling wind. Lightning and black fire tor in the layer of Scarlet's protection and made her surrounding weak.

Tia had made the soldiers to a minimum ...

Jay was a Gifted that no one knew of William was the only Gifted that had the power of mind-reading, jody could bend any metal, Clark could lift anything ....but Jay was simply unknown.

Shadows broke the wind apart as the sound of broken glass empowered the lightning.

Fire slowed down and died ... Tia swallowed hard ... She turned away from the pair and closed her icy eyes ... Nightmare did not need to be seen.

The lonely, in pain and howling Wind, carried Scarlet's screams...

As the soldiers backed away and ran as fast as their feet could carry them; Tia turned to the boy that was now panting on the ground.

Tia took a deep breath and moved towards him

The wind had died down and snow wasn't bothering the ground anymore.

She slowed her pace as she neared him. 

" Jay ...it's you, right? "

He weakly nodded. That was Tia's clue to run towards his shaking form and collected him as he finally lost his balance and fell to her arms.   Jay looked so much smaller then. His skin was grey as black veins moved from his heart up to his neck and both blue, blue eyes. The white in his orbs was pitch black color. His entire body was freezing to touch. Every breath he took seemed forced

" Jay No sleeping on me okay? I really can't carry you "

Tia was a panicking mess, she had no idea what she should do if he was to fall asleep. She padded his chilly cheek and pulled on them....her gaze moved around them to find Scarlet ...or what was left of her ...

There on the rocks, was her broken body. ..her mouth was wide open as if her soul was eaten ...

" Jay ...did you let it out? "

She didn't want to sound as bitter as she felt but Tia just couldn't help it.

His voice was breathy when he replied.

" It was the only way ...."

Tia took a breath to keep her temper in check ...no need to make him feel worse.

" Tia ?....what are we gonna do now? "

She looked at their surroundings ....no more soldiers to fight. No more home to return to and honestly no place to live.

Jay was breathing heavily. He was already feeling hotter than normal as the freezing of his skin turned to warmth ...the greyness of his skin slowly turned into a white, sick color...

Upon Scarlet's death, the glasses in her body had melted as if nothing was ever there. Unexpectedly Jay broke into a fit of a wet coughing fit. Fortunately, blood wasn't coming out of his mouth ...the ones of his ears and eyes had dried. Making his dark hair stick to his skin.

" Jay... Did you bring a phone? "

" Who are you going to call? "

" DO you have one ?! "

" Why do you want it? "

" Wow! Even at your state, you're arguing! What the hell do people use a phone for ?! Excellent Jayson Lewis ! "

" Temper outbursts aren't good for your blood pressure you know? "

Tia clapped the back of his neck. His head was pressed against her shoulders as he struggled to get his phone out of his pocket. Before giving the phone away he is in a small voice asked " don't call Will okay? "

Tia knew that she couldn't call Will ...or anybody more like ....not even Clark Because now Jay was also a useless Gifted; therefore his head was wanted by the Queen. Because he so lovingly had killed her sister after all. Gifteds like them didn't get to have a phone so they could only use the road telephone

" I'm not gonna him ...I'm gonna call Diana. "

There was a buzzing sound coming from Diana's pocket as Clark took a hold of it and pressed answer bottom

" Hello ?! "

" Clark! We need help ....none of us can walk, can you come to pick us up ?! "

Clark slapped a hand against his forehead and kicked the paddles to go faster. 

" you idiots! Send me the address I'm gonna drop the girls to Jody then I'll come to pick you up. "

" Sure thing man Love you bye! "

Clark let out a deep sigh .... honestly, couldn't he just take a break?
