13 The Envoy and The Princess (1)

Attica was an Amazonian female knight. Her dark brown - short wavy hair, brown pupils, and her firm facial structure made her seem like an unapproachable person. Jill noticed that her steps were as firm as a men's. As well as her athletic back and shoulders. She must be trained a lot.

For several hours on their journey to Olympus— Jill was busy observed all the envoy. At first, Attica, even though she seemed fierce, was actually very friendly. she seems tried to be on par with the men around her and refused if they tried to help her.

"Is it because we travel with a Princess so you feel that you have to act like this to me?" She was annoyed when Alastair and his partner Argus tried to help her get on the horse after a short rest by the river.

"Sorry, we forgot you're not a girl," Argus raised his hand and shook his head.

"I am female!" Attica replied.

"Oh come on Attica, you are almost 300 years old, one day you will also get married. None of your amazon friends are here, it's okay to be spoiled for once in a while," Lasonas teased. He was another emissary with short dark hair and a scar on his face near his ear.

Jill who was rode her horse leisurely with Attica frowned slightly every time she heard the messengers spoke. Are they really not human? She still had a hard time to believed it.

"We're on duty, Lasonas! I can't let my guard down, the Spartans might still be after us," Attica dodged.

"I checked, they're not after us," Argus chimed in.

"Yeah, we can relax a bit because there are still a few more hours before we arrive at Olympus. So Attica, is that story true? They said some Amazonian warriors are going to visit the Titan community to find a mate?" Lasonas smirked.

"What? I don't think so. Why should we do that?"

"Because there will come a time when you want offspring and have to go to a man to fertilize your womb," said Lasonas again.

Somehow Jill was offended by that.

"Sorry, I think you harrased her," said the princess angrily.

"Harassing?"

"I didn't even touch her!" Lasonas laughed.

"No-no, I mean, harassment not only by touching but also from your words that may make the other party uncomfortable," Jill explained.

"What? Where did you get that thought?"

Jill realized, she forgot for a moment that she was now lived in a primitive era.

"Ah, that—my teacher in sparta taught me," Jill evaded.

"Oh, did any Spartan philosopher have such an opinion? Interesting, we don't really follow their Civilization progress," Argus commented.

"I'm not offended, men are like that," Attica shrugged.

"I think if they've gone too far we should speak up," Jill responded firmly.

"Oh no, for us amazonians, if they go too far, we'll cut off some of their fingers," Attica smiled as she said it. Jill responded with an awkward laugh. It seemed she didn't need to teach an Amazonian woman to defend herself.

The Amazonians are a legendary tribe in ancient Greece made up entirely of female warriors. Jill first learned about it from the DC Wonder Woman comic. Diana the superhero was said to be an Amazonian knight. They are led by a queen who was said to be descended from Ares from his relationship with nymphs or fairy creatures.

Attica said they weren't always in the same place. They often go on adventures and work for the gods of Olympus. So it was not strange if they met a man and get pregnant. What Lasonas said was only an issue that was often told of as a joke by people who didn't know their culture. Attica herself was a follower of Ares and one of his trusted soldiers.

"So you're all demigods?" jill asked.

"What? No. We're Titans," Argus replied.

"Titans?"

"Yes, we and the gods and goddesses of Olympus are called the Titans," Argus replied.

"We are immortal and cannot age," Lasonas chimed in.

"I heard the Titans are monstrous giants and spew fire like Kronos who was killed by Zeus. But you all seem normal," Jill doubted.

In the mythology she knew, the Titans were a group of early God who ruled the earth. Kronos was the first ruler and he eat his own children for fear of losing his throne. Then Zeus who was saved by his mother—arranged a plan to free his brothers who had been eaten—then took revenge. Kronos was defeated and Zeus became the main god of Olympus.

"No, princess. Kronos has the same form as us. The story of him eating his children is just a dramatization spread by our people," said Argus again.

"Yes, humans love heroic stories," Lasonas chimed in.

"Hey! Is it okay if we tell her this?" Alastair reminded.

"I guess it doesn't matter, she'll be on Olympus forever. She can't tell any humans," said Argus casually.

"So all of you are gods?" Jill wanted to made sure.

"No-no, be careful talking like that, princess. At Olympus, that title is very serious. we have twelve major gods and dozens of minor gods. They are our leaders. We are only the Titans, living in the land of the humans of the earth in peace," Argus explained.

"Alastair is the only demigod here," Attica said.

"Yeah, his age isn't much different from you. You can be friends," said Argus.

"His mother is human, his father is a god,"

"He's not immortal and short-lived, but he's reliable," Lasonas patted Alastair friendly on the shoulder.

"Hey! Do you guys have to discuss all that with the Princess of Sparta?" He complained.

"How old are you princess?" lasonas asked.

"I'll be turning nineteen soon," Jill answered quietly.

"Oh, that means you still have fifty years left to live,"

"Very short, but you don't have to worry. Olympus is a lot of fun. if Ares pleases, you can even take a walk to another city. You won't get bored living there," Lasonas responded.

"Yes, Ares will spoil you. He's always been like that with his human lovers," Argus recounted.

"What happened to them?" Jill asked.

the messengers looked at each other, not immediately answered.

"You can ask him directly," Attica responded.

"Were they killed?" Jill asked in horror.

"Honestly there are some, but that's because of the woman's own fault,"

"Why?"

"You should know this, Princess of Sparta. the gods hate magic and curses, don't try to cast a spell on them or do magic. Olympus has clear laws about it. Witches will be put to death," Alastair announced.

"One of his lover used to try to cast a love spell on Ares. She was taken to prison and sentenced to death," Attica said in a small whisper.

"What? Don't gods and goddesses always work wonders with their magic? Why do they resist magic?" Jill was confused. How about a vulture turning giant? Wasn't that magic?

"No, princess of sparta. Magic is only practiced by humans. That's why it's strictly forbidden to do it on Olympus. We Titans only act with logic and science," Argus chimed in.

"Okay, I'm still confused. Can you tell me about the Titans? Who are you? Why are you different from us?"

"How so, because we have a long history. You can study it later. Ares Palace also has a library. Even though the books may be dusty because the residents hardly ever go there. Our history here begins with Kronos, who arrived with thousands of Titans about four thousand years ago," Argus said.

"Oh, are you guys from another continent?"

"Hmm, not from there. At night you can see it,"

"I still don't get it."

"At night, you can see the sky. there is one star among the star clusters that we can always recognize and miss."

"Yes, our house used to orbit that star," Attica added.

Jill was surprised at the moment, though she tried not to show it. maybe for ordinary ancient Greeks, the Titans were just talked about their home in heaven. But for Jill who lived in the modern era, she also suspected something else. Did they just say that the Titans were an alien race?
