17 His Curiousity

Jill tried to remember her life before she got lost in the forest of Olympus and was almost eaten by wolves. She was an actress. But not an ordinary actress. She started her career since teenager and had her own drama series on Disney channel. Now that she was 23 years old, she only appears in movies and occasionally became voice actress or do commercials.

She tried to remember something in her past that could help her deal with this situation. Jill often acted with famous Hollywood actors and models. Some of them even openly asked her out. Although most of the time Jill decided to end it after a few dinners together— because she was too busy with her works.

They are all good looking, because handsome actors and models are more favored by the world market. Jill was used to it and no longer a teenager who gets excited when she was close to a model or member of boy band with angelic face.

But this time Jill was nervous. He shouldn't be this handsome. The god of war she thought was ideally more scary with a bushy beard on his face as well as some ghastly scars.

Ares was an overly attractive man. Even for her who works and knows nearly half of the most handsome public figure in Hollywood. His well-groomed jet-black hair looked pleasant to the touch. His eyes were dark and shady—harboring a mysterious yet friendly impression. His face was more captivating than the statue of the God and goddess in the Greek museum she had visited.

His skin was not too light. His physique was also perfectly sculpted—thanks to his fighting and monster killing hobby.

Jill suspects Ares' charm was also influenced by his charisma and thousands of years of age. He was more confident, sounded intelligent and made any mortal creature felt small in front of him. Jill was intimidated. He was a real god of war. One of the most powerful entities on the Greek today.

Perhaps Ares can be equated with Vladimir Putin, the Russian president of her time. The difference was that he was older, more experienced, more dangerous and more handsome.

"You are very quiet, princess of Sparta. I wish I could hear your voice," Ares rebuked her who now turned her face the other way. Apart from being afraid of being caught that she was blushing. She was embarrased of her current dirty and soil-stained condition.

Jill was grateful that Ares didn't carry her until they arrived at his palace. Ares found her horse and now they both ride it. Jill felt ridiculous as her muscles involuntarily tightened in panic because being so close with him. Ares seemed to notice her reluctance to touch and sat slightly away from her. Even so, his hand holding the reins was still able to protect the Spartan princess from falling. He also spurred his horse not too fast.

"My throat hurts a little from screaming so much earlier," Jill reasoned in a slightly softer voice.

Jill was still tried to analyze the current situation. Slowly, she was able to overcome the awkwardness and began to think logically. She couldn't carelessly open her mouth. She couldn't joke and laugh like she had with Alastair and the emissaries before.

She was just a human who had lost her freedom. A princess who was called the most beautiful in Greece but was not immortal. A girl who knew nothing about Olympus and its gods and was not even twenty years old.

"Oh, I'm really rude. You must be very thirsty, princess of sparta. Here, have a drink." Ares handed her a leather pouch filled with water.

"Thank you," Jill nodded and accepted. Then she gulped down the contents a few times before giving it back.

All her life, Jill was anti-sharing glasses and plates with others. But this time she accepted it for fear that Ares would be offended if she refused.

There must be a reason why the majority of Greek poets said Ares was a cruel god.

"You look scared of me, I won't hurt you," Ares guessed.

"I should be afraid, you are the god of war," Jill replied quietly.

"Believe me, you have no reason to be afraid of me," Ares smiled.

"How could that be?"

"Firstly, I have given many treasures to the king of Sparta as a dowry. Second, we haven't even officially announced our relationship to the Titans. Third, if I want to kill you why would I bother looking for you in the middle of the forest like this?" Ares explained.

Jill straightened her face and looked back. He ventured to examine Ares's face. It seemed like what he said was sincere. At least in the near future her life was not in danger.

"Why do you want to marry me?" Jill couldn't help but ask.

"Why? Don't you know that rumors about you have also been heard all the way to Olympus? Even we gods want to know what the princess of Sparta looks like. Unfortunately the King of Sparta did not allow you to leave Sparta and kept you only in the vicinity of the palace complex."

"So just out of curiosity?"

"I can't tell you the details at this time," Ares responded again, shaking his head.

"If it's just out of curiosity, don't the gods usually kidnap the girls they want?" Jill regretted saying it. she used to argue and forgot that the man she was with right now was a god.

"No, of course not. Don't the priests at your temple tell the truth? When a god comes to his lover it's mostly because they like each other. We don't kidnap or ****. there may have been a few in the past but believe me we are all more mature and wiser."

"Still," Jill doubt it.

"Why me? Just out of curiosity? Really? Then what if I disappoint you? If I'm not as beautiful as the rumors say then what will happen to me?"

"Princess of Sparta, there's no need to think so complicated. Be happy with the life I gave you. You should be proud because you will be the first woman I marry."

Ares then grabbed her hair and played with it. Jill flinched because even if it was just a brief and harmless physical contact it could actually make her heart beat fast. She don't know if Jill can build immunity against the war god's existence.

"Princess of Sparta, you are the prize I won. give birth to my child, stay beautiful to me then I will guarantee comfort and happiness for the rest of your mortal life," Ares said.

Jill felt uncomfortable hearing that. All her life she used to be independent. relying on an established man while she only needed to be by his side while remaining graceful and beautiful never sounded comfortable to her thought.

Maybe that was why she never dated for long. because those who approached her were men with more successful career than her.

She didn't want herself to be judged solely for her physical beauty. Although all women have choices and of course Jill respects them - she's just not used to it. Maybe she should accept it because she lives in the era of ancient Greece. although Greece is a pioneer of democracy and equality- still women had not been able to play much role.

But Jill also guessed that the character of Ares might not be as old-fashioned as the majority of men in ancient Greece. Apart from being non-human, he liked and got along well with Aphrodite. Apart from her free lifestyle, selfishness and unfaithfulness, the goddess was a classic norm breaker in this era. She was a woman but also a feminist – who, like a powerful man, had many lovers. The all-female Amazonian knights also respected Ares and could do many things that only men normally did.

"Can I do some things in your palace?" Jill asked.

"You mean?"

"Like Attica and the other women there, I want to be able to do what they do."

Ares slightly frowned upon hearing that.

"Are you sure? You're a princess. I can prepare many servants for you to make your life as comfortable as in your old palace," Ares confirmed.

"I've lived too long as a mere display in the palace of Sparta, even though my life is short but I hope to have a different experience while living in Olympus," Jill showed her manners and once again looked back and saw Ares' face which turned flat.

"I didn't expect this before, but I don't think I'll stop you, it's just—" the god responded a little doubtfully.

"Why?"

"It's just that you need to know, that your fate and future life depend on your own decisions. this is Olympus, as long as you are in my palace and with me you will be safe but it is different if you come out of my palace. I also don't like liars, so when you speak you have to be sure and keep it."

"Err . . . All right. I'll keep that in mind," Jill said dubiously.

Why was the reaction so serious? when Jill thought only of occasionally using the kitchen, going to the library or riding horses. What was the life of the female residents like in the Ares palace like? Jill was worried about herself because the god Ares might have misunderstood her.
