"What's up with people these days?" Lia muttered grimly after the call from Cindy ended. "A few days ago it was Neil who was acting weird. And now Cindy. Do they just want to work on me?" She shook her head.

Her eyes returned to the TV, to the comedy program that had begun to wane in her interest. The images in her head were filled with streaks of weirdness. But what stood out the most was about Cindy and also about the human-eyed bird.

"I think something is wrong. But I don't understand what it is." Now her gazes were blank. Even though the TV was on, the girl didn't enjoy it.

Her body moved to go to her room. Her footsteps passed faster than she could have imagined. In her hands were the stuff of her childhood. She scanned the objects carefully.

"Who exactly am I?" asked Lia thoughtfully. "And who are my parents?"
