1 chapter 1

Zhang's mom did not like the idea of shifting to South Dakota ,especially because of its cold winters , the problem which pretty much the whole of the states was fed up with , and Zhang unlike all other new comers was not very excited to join his new school. His mom drove through the streets as he saw all new faces in his neighborhood.

'Music?' Lin-Xu asked.

'Umm, yeah , why not ?' Zhang answered. He never really liked the mandopop that his mom liked. He was more inclined towards rock groups and a few Asian groups , particularly EXO, but she always tried to make her understand that learning their culture and language was not a luxury for him, it was a necessity, often when they contended over something , Lin used to shout at him in mandarin,  she was more like the typical Asian mother, born in  Hebei , a city  near Beijing , brought up in a well educated Chinese family, Zhang's grand mom was a native of Hong Kong who was the daughter of a Chinese military personnel, fluent with her mother tongue,

Cantonese.

Lin-Xu  was a mother who always expected her son to be back before quarter to eleven , sober, even on Halloween , until he was fifteen and when one fine night  he arrived home past midnight , drunk, after that Lin understood that her son was grown up and it was ungovernable and unnecessary to take part in his life.  Ever since, there has been tranquility, mostly.

Zhang was surfing through his cell phone , while moving his fingers swiftly across his blonde hair , which he had dyed recently , the smell of his cologne pervaded the car , he mostly preferred using Dior perfumes with Calabrian bergamot and pepper top notes, the smell that can be identified at once u get a whiff of, fidgeted with his septum for a while and then gazed outside the window arbitrarily.

Zhang got admitted at Roseland high in his freshman year, Roseland high used to be a decent school, with some history and his dad Ashton had completed his schooling here, so obviously he was pretty excited to see his son get admitted to his school.  He always wanted to visit China and pursue music , and start his career as a trainee, well he thought he had it all , he was fairly good looking , attended dancing classes till he was fourteen , and principally he was Asian, but his Mom and especially his dad had other plans for him , and he had to go through what most Asian guys have to.

Lin hummed meanwhile as she drove past alleys.

They reached the front gate and Zhang hopped out, fixing his ear piercings.

'Are they bleeding again?' she asked.

' Neh, mama I'm fine !' Zhang replied with an accent.

'ohk, then , guess I'll have to leave now, I have to see to the opening of the restaurant, take care of yourself and don't get into any trouble , atleast try not to !' she smiled and kissed him bye.
