2 Chapter 1 Part 2 - Something to be Called By

Jonah lifted me off the ground and led me out of the alley. "You'll love Master!" He dragged me through town, passed the dark buildings.

"Wait up, Jonah," Marcia huffed. "That is very rude! We don't know if the kid wants to come with us. Plus, we don't even know his name."

"Oh... Heh!" Jonah laughed nervously, "well, kid, what do you say want to come with us?" I quickly shook my head up and down. "Good, so what's your name, kid?"

I looked at the two, confused, "name?"

"Yeah, what do other people call you. Like how I'm called Marcia, and he is Jonah."

"I guess it's... witch boy." Marcia frowned.

"That's not a name."

Jonah paced back and forth while scratching his head. "I got it." A smile grew on his face. "We'll call you Gruff because it sounds like tuff!"

I looked at the boy, smiling; I puffed out my chest and held up my arms.

The teenagers burst into laughter. Jonah wiped a tear from his eye. "I like you. I think we will be great friends."

Jonah led us through the dark, desolate streets. The two of them quietly walked while keeping to the shadows. Usually, no one goes out at night because of a rumor about monsters appearing in the forest.

I felt excited and a bit scared when we made it to the forest's edge. Jonah and Marcia walked into the woods with no fear. They were brave, just like mom. I looked to the east and saw the sun start rising. Something pushed me forward, something warm and welcoming. Jonah and Marcia looked back at me, holding their hands out. I grabbed on; they were big and gentle.

We started our journey in the woods. Light flooded the trees, and our path became illuminated.
