3 Chapter 2

May 27th, 1985 - Muggle Britain, Number 4 Privet Drive

Harry Potter, age four, sat despondently in his closet. He winced as the thin shirt he wore rubbed harshly against his skin, the cuts and bruises along his back and waist throbbing painfully and the deep cuts along his stomach causing him to hold his breath now and then to lessen the pain.

He flinched when he heard the sound of his Aunt Petunia's footsteps coming down the stairs quietly but in a rush. His made to stand up but fell down on his bottom after a few seconds due to dizziness and blood loss. Before he could attempt to stand once more, the door to his closet flew open and he was dragged out quickly.

Meanwhile, somewhere far far away...

July 31st, 980 - Wizarding Britain

A tall man suddenly appeared in a long and dimly lit hallway. He walked further into the building, searching for a select few individuals. He turned and walked down the hallway to the left, reaching a large brown door with strange symbols drawn around it. Snapping his fingers and walking through the door, he finally found them.

"Oh my. What are you doing here so late at night, Merlin? Has something happened?" A young woman spoke, her long blonde hair swishing from side to side as she made to stand up.

"It is quite alright, Helga dear. Please be seated, I believe you may need the support after hearing what I have to say." Merlin waited for the four witches and wizards in front of him to settle down and offer him their complete attention before speaking again. "I have seen something great, something very important but something quite dangerous."

"What did you see?" Salazar spoke up, eyes trained on Merlin with curiosity.

"A boy will be born exactly a thousand years from now and will become the saviour of the Wizarding World," the aged wizard replied. "Fate is playing a dangerous game and I–"

"I do apologise for interrupting but how is the state of the Wizarding World a thousand years from now of any concern to us, Merlin? We will not be alive to know or do anything about it," another woman cut in, her dark eyes full of knowledge gazing intently at him.

"Ah, Rowena dearest. The boy is in much danger where he is now. It has me worried." Merlin rubbed his hands together in bitterness at the memory. "I saw the current headmaster, of this school that you are building, leave the child in the cold outdoors to a house of muggles as a babe."

The two women gasped in shock. The men stilled in their places, fury bubbling beneath the surface of their emotionless masks.

Merlin smiled slightly. "Yes, I learnt that in a decade's time, you four will have finished building this castle for young magical children and that in the future, they will be offered the opportunity to come here to learn after 11 years. Therefore I will leave the boy here until he reaches that age before returning him to his rightful time. He will become powerful and I firmly believe he will save the whole of the Wizarding World, prophecy or no prophecy."

"Well then, that settles it. Bring the boy here as soon as possible. We will do our best!" Godric smiled. Merlin turned before disappearing with a crack, leaving the four young wizards and witches to plan for the time he returns.
