Chapter 11 – Catalina’s Cooking Skills

Kichi's pov

Later in the afternoon, at 3:11 p.m., I was reading one of my favorite books while using my left hand to flip the pages. At the same time, my right arm is now healing itself up, faster than I expected. The girl who was taking care of me, Catalina Wesley Jr., was reading one of my books, too. I knew her name because I saw her name on the digital announcement board.

"So, how's your right arm?" she asked.

"It's now feeling better," I responded back. "I think by tonight, you may go now."

"What? Do you really need my help on food?"

"Hey, I can't cook because I can't use my right arm."

"Fine," Catalina responded reluctantly in annoyance. "Right now?"

"No, a bit later," I answered back. "Just go back doing what you're currently doing."

"Okay," Catalina replied, before going back to reading my book.

This follows with a short silence.

"So, Mr. Whoever you are," Catalina asked breaking the silence. "You're reading this kind of literature?"

She then showed the book she was currently reading to me. It was an action book.

Seeing it, I replied back, "Yes, it's one of the favorite genres."

Putting the book down, Catalina retorted, "Wow, it must've been expensive."

"No, my cousin gave it to me on my 14th birthday," I denied in response.

"I see. Well, you're a bit too young to read that type of literature."

"Yeah, but I'm used to it because we watched a lot of action movies."

"Okay, that's odd."

Later, at 6 in the afternoon, I decided to eat dinner, so I asked Catalina to cook a dish, any dish, for me.

"Now?" Catalina asked back.

I then positively nodded. "Yes, any dish which you can make."

"Any dish?" Catalina asked back once more.

"Yes, what you can cook."

"Okay, I'll check the fridge. I heard they stock the fridge every time there is a new student."

She then put the book aside, stand up, and went to the kitchen to check the fridge for food.

Upon opening the fridge, she saw that there are kinds of food.

I was drinking my glass of water when Catalina asked me if I like fried salmon.

"Oh, yes, I like that," I responded back positively. "Sure. I'll eat bread, too. I had some in my backpack."

"I see, okay then," Catalina replied back, before getting a pack of precut salmon fish from the freezer.

After, since I heard that the organization also provided cooking oil, salt, pepper, and other seasonings, I eventually revealed that fact to Catalina.

But Catalina responded with, "I know, I know."

She then grabbed a frying pan and placed it on the stovetop, before turning the stove on to medium heat.

After that, Catalina grabbed the bottle of cooking oil, and pour some in the pan in just a right amount, before tilting the pan to spread and distribute the oil.

Since the packaged salmon had been precut, Catalina didn't need to cut it, and she just put three of them into the pan. Luckily, the salmon was not that frozen at all.

After that, she get a metal spatula and started cooking the salmon for me.

Amazed by her cooking skills, I stand up, walking to the kitchen, and commented, "Wow, your cooking skills are so good."

"Yeah, I inherited this from my mum," responded Catalina. "I liked cooking, too."

She then asked a question, "So, do you want seasonings in your salmon?"

I then smiled and answered back, "Sure thing, that'll make it even more delicious."

In response to that, Catalina get two packs of two different seasonings, tear them open, and lightly sprinkled them on the salmon.

I then sniffed the falling seasonings and commented, "So good."

But then, Catalina was annoyed of my presence, and she pushed me out of the kitchen saying, "Just go back to your seat. It's gonna be quick."

"Okay, okay," I replied back without any resistance, before I sat down on the same chair and resumed reading my book.
