20 Chapter 18: Internship With Two Heroes, Part 1

(Okay, so Miruko won by a landslide. However, the only one who got another vote beside her was Ryukyu, the Dragon Hero, so Imma tweak canon a bit and have Ryukyu and Miruko's agencies be super close to each other so that they can basically both intern him.)

(Also, If y'all had chosen to let me pick, It would have been Ryukyu.)

(Daily Music: Boku no Hero Academia OST - "Hero A" )

(Little fun thing before we get to our innocent but also psychopathic mc's pov)

Shortly after the Festival ended, merch of Jokara became a thing, and boy, did it become a thing. It became one of the most demanded things in Japan's history, both pre-Quirks and post-Quirks. Part of it was because of how easily he won the Festival, but a large part of it was because his now giant fanbase found him really cute. There were several fan-sites made within the first few hours after the festival ended. Fan-art got extremely popular to do, but the things that became in unbelievably high demand were plushies of him. Action figurines also later became a thing.

Now, you might wonder why it was him specifically that got so much attention? Well, 85% of the reason was because the winner of the event where extremely talented Quirk users 15 years old battled. People who often had at least ten years or so to train their Quirks. However, the public thought that he only awakened his around 3 years ago, when he was 5 years old, as that's the general time most people awaken their Quirks.

If only they knew he had actually awakened it around barely a month ago. Then he would have become more talked about than All Might himself.

One picture of him, taken by teachers at UA, became the most liked image on social media. It was a picture of him in his hero outfit, training.

(Image here)

He got many nicknames from the public. Prodigious Child, Bone Fighter, Bone Dancer, etc.

However, the action that got him even more attention was what he said to Endeavor's son, Todoroki. His laughter had terrified many spectators, and people who watched the event live from their homes. Those weren't words that anyone would be able to imagine from an 8 year old, especially one coming from one trying to be a Hero. Sure, the student known as Bakugo often said vulgar words too, but he was a hot blooded teenager, with a powerful quirk, who was likely praised endlessly by his peers, giving him lots of arrogance, so it was kind of understandable. But, hearing the words that came out of the mouth of Jokara were very different.

That didn't impact his popularity, however.

(Now, to our cuddly bony boi)

It was the day after the Festival. Aizawa told us that we would be interning with Heroes who offered to intern us at their agencies. I got the most offers, easily. in the 3000 range. I made sure to look through for the names of Heroes who I thought would be worthwhile, judging from whatever I saw when I researched heroes. Eventually, I settled on one.

Miruko. The Rabbit Hero.

She was one of the few who I would probably be able to tolerate enough, and also wasn't a weakling. So, I picked her.

However, another was for us to pick. Our Hero Names. I had one in mind, so I wrote it and presented it.

Me: The Mutilation Hero, Jokara.

(You know how people have things they're good at, and, subsequently, they have things they're trash at? Yeah, I'm good at gore, but naming things, jesus christ, I fucking suck at it. I spent like 20 minutes to come up with this name, and it's probably still trash)

Midnight: Oooh, creepy! Why Mutilation though?

Me: Because my ability mutilates me whenever I use it, and it can do the exact same to my enemies, so I thought it fit.

Midnight: I like it!

I had finished packing what I would need for the internship. Toothbrush, toothpaste, and my hero outfit. After hugging my family and saying goodbye for the week, I ran to where Miruko's agency is. It wasn't that far from where Iida would be doing his internship.

It didn't take me that long to get there, on account of the levels of speed I could reach in regular sprints. The agency was at last a couple hundred kilometres away, but I got there in around 3 minutes.

I walked in through the door of the agency, and saw a receptionist at a desk in front of me.

Me: Excuse me, miss?

Yoneda: Hm? *looks up* Oh my gosh!! Jokara!!!

In extreme speeds, she got over her desk and brought me in a tight, but surprisingly comfortable hug.

Yoneda: Omigosh omigosh Omigosh!!!!! I'm a big, big fan!! You're like, my favourite!! You're so cute, and so cool at the same time!! Where did you get your Hero suit made?! What's it made of?! It's so cool! How do you train your Quirk?! Does it always hurt when you use it?! I can see if I can lessen it! Would you be okay with that?!

She is, as you can tell, extremely hyperactive. She also seems to be a very big fan.

(I'll post an image of what she looks like here)

Miruko: Calm down, Yoneda. Let the little guy breathe a bit.

She calmed down a bit, and reluctantly put me down. She ruffled my hair gently, though.

It felt nice.

Miruko: So, you chose my agency. You've got good taste. While you're under my care, I'll make you way stronger! You'll pummel the rest of the brats at UA when this week is over!

Me: Very well. I'll unpack, get dressed, and then we can start. Where's the changing room.

Miruko: Down the corridor, third door to the left. I'll wait for you in the training room. It's upstairs, the first door to the right. Meet me there when you're there.

I went to the changing room and got dressed into my hero outfit. I went upstairs to meet Miruko where she was waiting.

The room she was in expanded, turning into a forest.

What is it with my opponents always giving me the greatest environmental advantage they possibly could?

Me: So, let me guess. You first want to test my capabilities and work off of what you get from that?

She nodded.

Me: Should I use my full speed, or tone it down for you?

Miruko: What's the fastest you can go without any kinds of boosts?

Me: Around 600 kilometres an hour.

(The speed of sound is, according to google, 1234.8 kilometres an hour)

Miruko: Impressive. Well, since I want to work on your physical capabilities the most, feel free to use your max speed. Nothing that boosts it though. I want to increase what your natural capabilities are, and build on that.

I nodded. I dashed at her, going for a punch to the gut, but she managed to dodge with a kick on the ground, leaping onto a tree branch.

I did the opposite of what she probably expected me to do, and, instead of chasing her down, jumped into the cluster of trees surrounding us, and began jumping from tree to tree, increasing my momentum and velocity with each jump, until I reached an acceptable level, and jumped in her direction. I passed just under the branch she was on.

Miruko: Ya missed, kiddo.

Me: Oh, did I?

She just now noticed that I had grown two bones that interlocked with each other, and it had locked over her right leg.

As I shot past the branch she was previously on, she got dragged since her leg was trapped by my bones. I spun near several trees, slamming her into them with extreme velocity. Around the fifth tree, my momentum slowed down, and I released the bone around her leg.

She was quite damaged, but not out.

Miruko: Nice one, mini-hero. Now, let's test your defence. I'm going to attack you with around 5 to 10% of my max strength. Don't dodge, I need to know your physical limits for punishments to improve them.

I nodded, and went into a lax stance, not a proper one. After all, I wasn't supposed to defend anyway, so now point in being in proper stance.

She jumped to me and kicked me in the chest, sending me flying back quite a bit, but not actually hurting me at all. This was nothing.

Me: Didn't hurt. What percent of power was that kick?

Miruko: 5%. This next one will be 10%.

She did the same kick, but with a good bit more power behind it. Again, it pushed me back, quite a bit further this time, but it still didn't manage to make me even flinch from pain.

Me: Give me more! MUCH MORE!

Miruko: Wait, hold on, slow do-

Me: DO IT! YOU KNOW WHAT MY OWN POWER DOES TO ME, THESE LITTLE TAPS FROM YOUR FOOT ARE NOTHING!! HIT ME LIKE I JUST KILLED SOMEONE IN FRONT OF YOU!! LIKE I JUST ENDED A FAMILY!! AFTER ALL, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO STOP THOSE KINDS OF PEOPLE, RIGHT?!! SO HIT ME!! HIT MEEEE!!!

While you wouldn't think of seeing it from a small boy like Jokara, the words he was saying, while not based on a thing he really did, looked incredibly real in Miruko's mind, like he had really done it.

(This is something I want to try. So, you know how in lots of fics, a character is exposed to a killer's "bloodlust" or "killing intent" and it paints a picture of them in a scary scenario, and it terrifies whoever it's aimed at? He has something kinda similar to that, but the more people or creatures he has killed, the more realistic it is. If he was like most heroes and people his age, nothing would happen with him saying this, but since, as we all except for the characters in the fic apart from Jokara himself and Ryujin know, he's killed quite a lot, it looks incredibly real to people when he wants it to. Just in case someone gets confused)

She could see the image in her mind as clear as day. Jokara, covered in blood, holding a woman by the neck, a hole in her chest, bleeding. In his left hand, a teddy bear, covered in blood that didn't belong to Jokara or the killed woman he was holding with his right hand. Behind him, lay the corpse of a man, a wallet by his dead body with a picture of the dead woman and a child.

And Jokara was laughing, as if he heard the best joke of his life.

She instinctively leapt at him, and kicked him with around 50% of her power. This sent him flying way further, slamming him into a tree as he flew.

Miruko: KID!! A-are you okay?!

At first, with the silence, she thought she had seriously damaged him. Until, somehow, he just pulled himself out of the tree, not even seeming that damaged.

Miruko: Kid!! What the hell was that?!! Why did the image you were talking about seem so real?!

Me: Oh, that's something I found out I could kinda do. Show people mental images I want them to. It has to be violent though.

Miruko: How does that work?

Me: Dunno. The first person I tried this on was terrified, and when I asked them why they saw the image I was describing so clearly, they just told me "You made it believable". Whatever that means.

(Y'all can come up with your own theories. I won't confirm, nor deny them :) )

Miruko: Well, ignoring that. Your defence is really solid. I don't think there's much I can do to improve it. Now, last thing we gotta test. Physical strength. I'll stand here, and I'll just guard. I want you to wail on me with all you can muster up. No quirk though, just pure physical strength.

Oh, this is my weak spot. Sure, I'm nowhere near the weakest physically, but not impressive either. Just slightly above average in adult terms. So, nothing phenomenal happened while she was testing that part.

Miruko: Alright, so, your main focus is going to be physical strength and speed. Your defence is already great, so that's fine, I don't think I could do much to improve it. But for now, get some rest. Later, we'll be testing your stamina.

I nodded. Me and her went out of the training room.
